Stop-And-Frisk Contribution To The Decrease Of Crime In New York

Supporters of the policy argue that stop-and-frisk contributed to the decrease of crime in New York. Although the policy targets minorities, scholars and other advocates defend the disparities by saying that they reflect higher crime rates among racial minority groups and that it would only make sense because police are dispersed where the crime happens – within racial minority communities rather than white communities (Bratton and Knobler, 1998).
As Figure 1 displays, the empirical evidence shows the racial as well as ethnic disparities that happens with stop-and-frisk.
