I want to be a Camp Cowboy Director because Camp Cowboy has been one of the most influential campus organizations for me. I want to utilize the platform Camp has to improve the quality of new students’ experiences here at Oklahoma State by coming up with ways to better engage campers and help them grow and become comfortable with who they are and who they wish to become during these next 4+ years. As a camper, I did not have the most pleasant experience at Camp Cowboy in fact I was miserable almost the entire weekend. However, it was the interactions that I had with my counselors and with the wranglers that made attending Camp completely worth it to me. This past summer, I was a counselor myself and my goal was to be the kind of person that
I became interested in the STEM camp because I believe this camp will benefit me an enormous deal in the future. Attending the camp will support my future academic goals. In college, I intend to specialize in science, math, and technology. The STEM camp will help develop my educational interests and provide a glimpse into what I can expect from studying the areas of math, science and technology and engineering. I know that my future career will involve knowledge in these subjects and I want to do everything possible to allow myself to be exposed to whatever educational opportunities that can help me develop these skills. I would also like to have an experience at UTRGV because it is one of my possible college choices at this
For the Coastal Brigade, I have several undergraduate marine and conservation classes that make my background exemplary. Fish identification and habitat management are my specialties, but I am eager to learn and share my knowledge with students and other adult leaders. As this is the first year the Texas Brigades are implementing the Coastal Camp, it is imperative that the adult leaders chosen are applicable and passionate about the topic in order to strengthen this camp and keep it relevant in the future. For the Buckskin Brigades, I am currently working on a thesis project with white-tailed deer, so I can share my personal experience with the students on what work is like, how I got this position, and how research not only helps managers
During the summer before my Freshman year I went to hell and back, and by hell I mean Philmont scout ranch. Just a little background, Philmont scout ranch is 140,117 thousand acres of big rugged, dry, mountainous terrain. I knew what I was getting into, Ever since I joined boy scouts Philmont was regarded as the ultimate scouting experience, so of course i was pressured into that. Eventually summer rolled around and before I knew it I was on a train to New Mexico.
I believe the experiences I have had throughout my childhood and now as a young adult would make me a great camp counselor. I have always enjoyed the outdoors. I often went hiking at Chestnut Ridge State Park and my family loved to go camping in Allegany. I’ve played many sports throughout my childhood including soccer, softball and gymnastics. In high school I started working as a gymnastics club leading workouts and creating circuits to build young children’s strength and abilities. I also became the captain of the varsity cheerleading team my senior year. Now in college, I am an early childhood/childhood education major with a concentration in math. I am a part of the education club on campus as well as Fredonia Greek Life.
For many individuals Camp Cosby means a lot to them, but for me there is so much value to the place I call home. Camp Cosby has been a huge part of my life even before I was born; therefore, I feel that it is necessary to help ensure that Camp Cosby is a successful place. I took a significant amount of time away from Cosby to not only grow and develop as an individual, but also to give Cosby a time to change. After years away from the place I was passionate about I feel the need to make sure that I am a part of bringing Camp Cosby to a new beginning. I want the best for Camp Cosby and for every individual that has ever felt the same. The benefits of working at Cosby for one summer have been life altering, and
My drive to help others stems from my time volunteering with the service organization, Rotary, and their leadership program, Camp RYLA. When I attended this camp as a high schooler, I learned invaluable lessons of self-confidence and connecting with others, traits seldom found in a high school environment. My experience at this program inspired me to return as a counselor, where I have been helping foster the growth of today’s youth for the past four years.
I interviewed Matto Reichart, who is the Camp Director for Pine Valley Bible Camp. He gave me some wonderful insight into how student ministry in a camping setting works. It was great to compare and contrast the techniques Matto uses at camp and the advice Mark DeVries gives to youth ministers that work in a church in his book Sustainable Youth Ministry. I began by asking how full time staff are spiritually fed at camp, DeVries makes it clear that any ministry job is very demanding and can cause major problems if the ministers are not looked after well, so this area is crucial to a healthy ministry. Next, I was curious about DeVries section on accomplishing tasks that need to be done and what that looks like at camp for Matto. Finally, comparing
I am interested in becoming a Community Assistant for the 2016-2017 academic year. I heard about this opportunity by being encouraged by others to apply, and from within the Kenna community itself.
In the spring of 2014 I went to FFA Success Conference in Covington, GA with my teacher Mrs. Beasley. Being sixteen and in High School after hearing about “camp” I thought how lame it was. Not knowing it would have changed my life on how I looked about things in life. So as my teacher went on about it and described how fun and positive it was I gave in. it was a two day conference so we will leave that next Saturday and arrived the same day. After the arrival we logged into our separate cabins girls and boys. From there we went to the first session.
Panther Creek Inspiration Ranch drastically changed my direction in life. My future was set in stone and planned out to a T, but this program veered my path a little. I began volunteering at the ranch my sophomore year of high school. My mother introduced me to equestrian therapy due to my love for volunteering and agriculture. This organization had more adventures in store for me than I had planned: to volunteer and have a good time.
I would love the opportunity to apply my leadership skills to the Outreach and Admissions Representative position. As a Student Assistant at the Merced campus, I have adopted FPU’s mission statement and become familiar with the admissions process. As an organizational leadership major, I am eager to support my team with the various concepts and methods I am learning in the classroom. I am a servant leader by nature; therefore, I am committed to the success of my team including students of various socioeconomic backgrounds.
I am trustworthy, and I appreciate the importance of accepting responsibility. My previous experience of babysitting, and previous volunteer positions of working with kids would help me very much while working as a counsellor. Camp Zodiac allows campers to have a fun and enjoyable
For the past six years that I have attended Camp Sea Gull, I have always seen my counselors and C.I.L.T.s as role models for myself. The impact that they have made on me has been very large, as they have taught me numerous life skills throughout the years. It is because of this impact that my past counselors and C.I.L.T.s have had on me that makes me want to be a C.I.L.T., and possibly a counselor in the future, as I want to influence others lives in the same way that mine has because of camp.
Cellphone’s should be able to be brung to schools for a good reason. The three that I came up with are kids getting home for school, useful for our education, and for downloading apps for us to use for our education for the kids at school. The first reason i say that cellphones should be brought was for safety of the kids getting home from school. If a kid is at school and they are trying to get home they can call their parents to come pick them up our another relative can. Also if a kid gets lost walking home from school they can just call somebody instead of asking a stranger and the stranger might just try to kidnap you. And from the article “Pros Of Allowing Cell Phones In High Schools” it says that if a
