My enthusiasm for architecture has developed from a very young age furthermore remains as a long-lasting passion of mine. My interest in mathematics and natural talent in art has played a huge role in my decision of becoming an architect. To pursue my passion for architecture, I studied graphic design and fine art for A-levels at ‘City and Islington College’. This has enabled me to gain the suitable artistry to visualise ideas and demonstrate my flair for creative design. My art-based educational background has influenced me to realise that architectural forms are creative representations of a designer’s imagination. The conceptual approach and artistic teachings at DMU have permitted me to discover and then express my imaginative ideas in their entirety. Although many of the projects were not feasible, they taught me the significance of having a solid concept, as well as how to productively execute a design brief. At ‘Leicester School of Architecture’ (LSA), I developed further confidence as a designer and truly valued the conceptual method and creative thinking. I wish to study the MArch Part II course in order to progress to the next stage (Part II) of this journey to become a qualified chartered architect. I believe that London Metropolitan University will help me to capitalise my academic degree and enrich my knowledge whilst allowing me to explore design ideas. Having seen the overview of the course module, studying a combination of design, technology, practice, and historical theory at your University will mean that I get the perfect blend of art, history and science in my teachings. By the end of this course, I hope to have built upon my creativity and develop my architectural writing skills through the production of design dissertations. Alison studied interior design at the University of Technology in Sydney. Here she learned the skills needed to design interiors for offices, cafes, and public buildings. After graduating from university, Alison was looking for a way to use her skills and qualifications in a more meaningful way. She also trained in exhibition and furniture design.
I am applying to QUT to study the Bachelor of Design – Architectural Studies because I have a passion for design. I haven’t known I wanted to go down this career path long, possibly only six months. I have always had a passion for the same area of work although I haven’t been able to pinpoint the career I really want until recently. Once completing this degree I would like to complete my masters in architecture then create my own business designing sustainable, environmentally friendly and carbon neutral housing.
As a developing and growing student, I realize that I need a plan for success, even though that plan may change. At Indiana University Bloomington, I plan to study in the School of Art and Design in order to eventually become an interior designer. While I may change my career choice and area of study, my drive and dedication to achieve excellence will never waver. However, that does not mean that I will not face challenges along the way.
