My goals for the next ten years, would be to get accepted to medical school and to graduate from medical school. Specifically, my top three medical schools that I would love to go to would be Oklahoma University Medical School, University of Colorado School of Medicine, and Oklahoma State Center for Health Sciences. To be honest though my top three are the places I would absolutely love to go to, I would gladly take a medical school that would accept me. Currently my plans for a specialty in medical school is endocrinology or immunology, I love the way that the body interacts with itself and how it is able to get confused and attack itself is probably my main interest in the specialty. My goals after I graduate medical school are, working in a hospital somewhere in Oklahoma, preferably in Oklahoma City or Tulsa, and work there as a resident for a time until I would be able to open up my own private practice or join a private practice and continue my health career from there. One of the things that has become increasingly interesting with me is Doctors Without Borders, which may end up being something that I would participate in after medical school during my residency or around the time that I would join a private practice.
The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences offers me a variety of opportunities and programs that I am unable to find anywhere else. First, the Early Selection Program allows me to have flexibility in my journey as a medical professional. Each student’s schedule in the program is tailored to a specific specialty and applicable track. In the program, I would get to explore not only the foundational medical courses, but also the courses that incorporate both clinical practice and community interaction early on. I would get to learn hands-on through the collaboration of my peers and work in an environment that looks at health through a cultural and evolving lens. From here, I will be able to get a solid impression of the care, communication, and approaches I want to implement as a future health care provider.

Furthermore I am currently in the process of achieving my next academic goal, which also serves as a career milestone, of being accepted into the College of the Canyons Nursing Program. Subsequently, after successful completion and certification of the nursing program I would transfer to, a yet undecided, University of California in an effort to work towards a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. Consequently, this one of the many reasons why I love the medical field for its limitless opportunities to obtain skills and abilities to help those in
As a child, the medical field has been a heightened interest of mine. Having taken classes to become and emergency medical responder, being taught CPR, watching and learning from media about emergency services, my want to excel in medicine has only increased. I feel one of the biggest purposes in my life is to understand and help others through the pain and suffering that they might be going through. I wish to develop the knowledge and the skillset to be able to help or even save those in need. In addition, I hope to help others see how successful you can be if you are passionately driven for what you do.
My mother has been a huge influential factor and has pushed me into seeking a degree in the medical field. I plan to attend medical school after completing a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry at University of Minnesota. I have been interested in going through medical school in Seattle, Washington. I aspire to become an interventional radiologist, but I know it will take many years of school. When I retired, I wish to continue working as a volunteer with Doctors without Borders and travel to third world countries.
The University of Pennsylvania's School of Nursing mission statement is "to make a significant impact on health by advancing science, promoting equity, demonstrating practice excellence, and preparing leaders in the discipline of nursing." These remarkable qualities that the university wants to instill within its students are the reasons why I applied to this prestigious university. This school would allow me to receive a high level of education while preparing me to become a nurse that exhibits everything the mission statement mentions. As a student at this university, it would help to expand my scientific mind into the vast world of nursing and all that it has to offer. It allows me to bring a fresh and new perspective to the nursing field while also embracing and studying the present knowledge I can gain from this universities nursing program.

My uncle lived in Aizwal, and a few times a year we would visit him. His apartment had a television and it was a very exciting event to sit around the big screen with my brothers and sisters watching movies. Watching the Rogers and Hammerstein productions like The Sound of Music made a tremendous impact on my understanding of world music and song. We Mizo people love to sing and do so unselfconsciously. It is more a part of daily life than singing is in the West. However, our songs were so much different from the songs I heard from Julie Andrews. Although they had foreign sounding scales, these songs were magic to my ears. I taught myself the tunes from The Sound of Music and other landmarks of musical theater. These songs stuck in my head, and soon I had half the village singing "I Am Sixteen Going on Seventeen" with me, especially those who were turning seventeen.
Regrettably the above slogan perfectly suits the present condition of healthcare in my country. An endeavor to bring about a change is the prime motive for me in aspiring to be a Public Health Professional.
“Never stop pursuing knowledge and education. These are things that no one can take from you regardless of what life throws at you.” This insightful piece of wisdom was offered to me by my grandfather, a professor at Northern Arizona University. He continually stressed to me that the attainment of knowledge and education are always worthwhile undertakings. For this reason I find myself unfulfilled unless some part of my days are spent actively seeking to further my current understanding of a given subject or endeavoring to learn a new one. I truly believe that no matter what unexpected events life creates, the educated person is always better equipped to adapt and thrive.
