STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
“Millions saw the apple fall, but Newton asked why” ~Bernard Baruch
In my childhood my father used to buy me mechanical toys to play with. The more I played with them, the more I became curious to know how they worked. I opened them and tried to understand how they operated. I built new toys out of old toys, power toy cars with DC motors and other paraphernalia. When I was 12 years old, I worked closely with a bike called “Jawa-Yezdi” and restored it with the help a mechanic in my class 12. Since then, I always wanted to be a Mechanical Engineer.
“The principal goal of education is to create men who are capable of doing new things, not simply of repeating what other generations have done” ~Jean Piaget.
I believe that everybody faces a paradox at some point in their lives, the question about what do they want to be, what really can make them happy and contented. My answer would be, serving the society by solving the problems being faced in order to facilitate future generations. I feel it’s one’s responsibility to do so. When I think of working for the welfare of the society and for future

I have worked on a few projects, participated in various industrial training programs and competitions. Subjects like Engineering Mechanics, Automobile Engineering, Mechatronics, and Machine Design revealed to me limitless horizons in the field of Mechanical Engineering. My final year project was on "Thermo-Mechanical and Vibrational Analysis on I.C. Engine Piston” where I got an opportunity to lead the project which not only helped me gain knowledge of design applications in Mechanical Engineering but secured me a first class. This project was taken up with a goal to know its working conditions and material properties. The 4 years under-graduate course had not only provided me strong fundamentals but had encouraged me to learn more and guided me to continue research related
The career I chose to undertake as my profession is that of a mechanical engineer. Why do I want to become a mechanical engineer? Well, for starters, I would be able to design, build and possibly repair many various machines and other technologies that are complex. These technologies can range from being already in use on a global scale to new, futuristic designs that are highly technical. Also, this career includes being a sort of jack-of-all-trades, where I would possess knowledge in mathematics, physics, etc. Finally, this career offers me the chance to expand outside my immediate area since mechanical engineers are well desired around the globe as well.
“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.”
Malcolm X once said “education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today”. From adolescence to adulthood almost every person is put through schooling. As one gets older in age, the education they obtain becomes more rigorous in order to stretch their minds far beyond two plus two or what color the sky is. The strategies of critically thinking and being able to analyze/decipher information in front is them is reinforced routinely in the educational system. With this being said, the purpose of education is to aid in enhancing one’s qualification, socialisation, and subjectification skills within the society regardless of how or where one’s education was obtained.
“The goal of education is not to increase the amount of knowledge but to create the possibilities for a child to invent and discover, to create men who are capable of doing new things” (Jean Piaget).
Martin Luther King is quoted as saying: “Intelligence plus character; that is the goal of true education.” As I continue to develop as a person and meaningful and flourishing part of society, I aspire to attend a university that represents academic excellence, diversity and leadership in transformation. Nelson Mandela was once quoted as saying: “Education is the most powerful weapon which
Yet even with these realizations that delve into the deeper meaning of education, modern education is still calling for simple measurable outcomes and continues to be geared towards specific employment ideas. This model of education is blatantly inadequate though. Many students today will end up holding jobs not yet invented in fields not yet discovered, so the teaching of answers to today’s questions is utterly useless. Albert Einstein once said, “Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.” and this statement reigns true throughout time. To continue academic success, the education system needs to impart a mastery of one’s own mind that allows students to not only answer current questions but also to pose questions that will shape the future world.
The purpose of education is to prepare students for their futures with both knowledge as well as fundamental life skills. I believe students are highly capable beings who have a desire to be productively challenged. To empower students to meet and exceed high expectations set forth by the state, school, or teacher, it is imperative that educators “teach for enduring understanding through partnerships and by drawing on brain-based education, students ' multiple intelligences, and culturally appropriate curriculum innovations” (Laster and Johnson). Beyond guaranteeing students can read, write, and perform basic math functions, we should be producing graduates who are responsible individuals positively contributing to society, reliable workers, and devoted family members. Whether students receive a scholarship to attend college or go to work immediately following graduation, we must train them to conduct themselves with integrity, have an admirable work ethic, and solve challenging problems they may face throughout their lives.
“Education then, beyond all other devices of human origin, is the great equalizer of the conditions of men, the balance wheel of the social machinery”
Every human being has their own career aspirations. I also put one dream that I want to realize since being in school is to become a mechatronic engineer because of my deep interest in technical fields such as electrical and mechanical. Although, mechatronics engineer is not an easy career to achieve because have many obstacles and challenges to be met but I am sure that I am able to make full preparations for the realization of my dreams as a mechatronic engineer.
“Education should no longer be mostly imparting of knowledge, but must take new path, seeking the release of potentialities.”
Education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another. ~ G. K. Chesterton
“The goal of education is not to increase the amount of knowledge but to create the possibilities for a child to invent and discover, to create men who are capable of doing new things,” stated by Jean Piaget. Education serves many purposes; it helps a child open their eyes to the world, it provides curiosity and determination for a young adult, and it can provide middle age adults and elders with a spark of belonging and hope. To be able to achieve these purposes, the process of education must start at a young age. Singing the ABC’s to an infant, reading to a toddler, encouraging writing and math skills are a few steps towards all the possibilities a person could have in life.
In this letter of intent, I am going to focus on the purpose of studying Industrial Engineering further at the post-graduate level. I have chosen University name because I feel it will best prepare me to fulfill my future career objectives. I jot down my Statement of Purpose with due respect to the Department and the University.
The goals of education are controversial and not many people can agree on what they are. A commonly shared opinion of the “purpose of education is to prepare students for the “real world” to “succeed””. Children are constantly being prepared for the workforce and what will
Educating ourselves is a responsibility we have to others. Many of the skills and knowledge we have acquired to this day is through self education. This as a matter of fact, is going out and getting educated by one 's own efforts, especially without formal instruction. It’s important to go out and educate ourselves for the purpose of educating our peers that surround us. Without a more educated environment the world couldn’t move forward. The people and their education are the future of our world.
