Since the beginning of time choices must be made in any given situation. It has been said that tough times call for desperate measures. In the case study, California’s Governor Jerry Brown was faced with a $27 billion budget deficit. Governor Brown had to make some tough decisions in order to balance the state budget. This report will cover several questions. What decisions did California Gov. Jerry Brown have to make to balance the California State Budget? What specific steps did he need to take to do this? How did Gov. Brown respond to the criticism that he was harming the less fortunate by undertaking some of these measures? What other criticisms have been lodged my detractors? And what have been the results of these decisions in terms of California’s State Budget and on taxes on/services to different groups?

Schools that has been effected by the budget cuts have their classes cut. Students have less resources to learn in class.

This week’s assignment is about evaluating the quality issues of three organizations. The three sectors I chose to evaluate are manufacturing, service and government. I will then discuss the importance of quality to each organization, the relationship of quality to customers, the leadership commitment to quality and the alignment of quality to the organization’s strategic goals and objectives.

United Methodist Church leaders have recommended a cut of $12 million from the recent budget proposed in February for the next four years, which puts its expenditures at the lowest level in 16 years, according to a UMC press release.

Quality can be greatly affected internally within an organization. Considering that internal factors can be monitored and controlled mainly from within, it is considerably easier to manage, though these factors have a much more direct and immediate effect on the organization where the management responsibility lies. Internal contributors that factor into quality outcomes include leadership styles, administrative policies, and organizational culture. These factors, if not performed to standard or with minimal empathy can cause stress among staff indirectly affecting the consumers. An unpleasant environment may lead to a low morale and dissatisfaction throughout the organization. (Suchman, A., 2001)

Faculties are supportive, welling to teach  and trying to provide a comfortable environment to work and learn.

The President Ralph Larsen has realized that Wengart has some major problems with the quality however he is focusing on the profitability instead of the longevity of the company. He needs to have the team focus on improving the quality problem or the company’s profits will continue to decrease. Larsen in the effort to improve the quality has decided to seek out help from an OD practitioner who suggests to Ralph to implement Top Quality Management (TQM). Larsen feels that this should be easy to implement and hands it off to Kent Kelly the Vice President. He feels that the TQM program was a matter of common sense (Brown, 2011, p. 365).

Within every company there is a customer, regardless of what your line of business is it is being done for the consumer albeit an external consumer or the internal consumer. The customer’s needs and expectations should be the driving force behind the decisions we make and the problems we solve…the customer, not our own personal or monetary gain. As quality improves we have to make sure that we are improving what matters to our customers not want we want to improve upon for own sake.

Quality is defined as conformance to the requirement, not goodness: The first absolute explains that management must strive to ensure that during the quality improvement process everyone is getting things done right the first time. Crosby stated that in other to do this management must state clearly what are the individual roles of the employee, management must also supply the employees with the resources needed to do their task and lastly management must give continuous support and encouragement to the employees during the improvement process. When quality is defined as conformance to requirement it helps to reduce hassle and improve quality at the same time. Crosby (1995).

There is a State University video and it seems cool. It offers a lot of majors and the school is nearby the house. One time he visited the school and has a tour with his parents. There is one tour guide that assist them to the whole University and it seems that he doesn’t know what he’s doing and they wasn’t able to complete the tour. Quality is never an accident it is always the results of high intention, sincere efforts, intelligent directions and skillful execution, it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

Implementation of excellent quality comes with a cost. The company must decide if it is really worth compromising the quality for revenue. If the quality costs exceeds the expected revenue of the company then the company must abandon implementing quality control mechanism. If otherwise, the quality would contribute to the product value and hence the revenue.
