Statement of Purpose
[Purpose]
During my under graduation, I nurtured an idea to shape my career in the way of doing research, in which period of time, has turned into my career goal. I am convinced that I should pursue a career in research and teaching as my profession. I wasn’t quite sure of what area of research I should get involved in, since I was interested in multiple areas of study until my high school. Taking a multi disciplinary undergraduate major has helped me to realize that computer science and logic are the areas which fascinates me the most when compared to others. By the end of under graduation I am crystal clear and confident in setting my priorities over computer science. Research at PhD level would be the best bet to satisfy my long term goal. I opine that completing masters and doing research at masters level would qualify me with the required skills in computer science and would set a perfect platform for my entry into PhD. Thus, after a careful consideration of my interests, abilities & goals, I decided to pursue masters degree in the field of Computer Science. [My Background]
Since childhood I always excelled at quantitative and logical abilities. Thus, I had a strong inclination for mathematics and physics. This led me to opt for mathematics, physics and chemistry as my majors at higher secondary level (10+2). After completing high school with outstanding grades, I was interested in pursuing my further studies

I feel that I need much more enhanced knowledge. Infact, I am more interested in doing research. In the next five years I hope to complete PhD with intense research experience. I have a strong passion for teaching which may lead me to take the path of teaching after PhD. But my immediate short term goal is to complete masters with good grades and with research which would be a learning
Therefore, most would infer that I pursue something related to my current field of occupation, right? This assumption is incorrect since I am determined to learn new topics, which led me to discover the unexpected: computer science. Versatility is a quality that few fields can offer, it was one of the reasons computer science attracted my interest. An individual may explore areas anywhere from game design, teaching, to cybersecurity. As I am a definite novice, my plans are to discover which branch suits my talents best and roll with it. Deciding to pursue this degree, was surprising due to my lack of necessity for new-fangled gadgets during my adolescence through my early college
The Physics curriculum is rigorous yet flexible. It’s filled with advanced math and physics topics which I find intriguing, but it also allows me to design my own future and satisfy my curiosity freely, even in other areas, through the electives and options. The Mathematical Physics option looks particularly enticing to me. So does Astrophysics, since I love amateur astronomy and cherish the breathtaking views of deep sky objects through my telescope. Though I enjoy theory, I will also cover all the important fundamentals and complete hands-on work, through requirements like the Electronics Laboratory course, that will prepare me comprehensively for future study, research, and career in physics and related areas.
In the fall of 2015 I enrolled in a beginning computer science course at Cosumnes River College to explore the option of working in the computer industry. After a few weeks into the course I knew that this was the field I wanted to become a part of. After discussing my options with my professor, Dr. Markus Geissler, I began to research my options for a degree path that would allow me to use both my strengths and interests. I have the ability to learn quickly, have great people skills, and an overall can do attitude that allows for remarkable adaptation into different environments and when I discovered the options that follow a management information systems degree, I knew I had found the best degree path. Computer science and all of its’ related sub fields are ever growing and changing, I am looking to work in a field that is fit to grow as demands for technology change, as well as challenge me to improve with any and all changes.
The excitement of the fast-paced technology world peaked my interest throughout my high school career. As a member of my high school’s FIRST Robotics Club, designing and creating the desired motion of our robot was an eye-opening experience. After my involvement in robotics, I took it upon myself to register for an online AP Computer Science Class and to take advantage of a work study program with the information technology department. I strive to gain a knowledge base that will allow me to be a leader in the forefront of technological advancement: taking risks, improving lives, and changing the world.
I have completed advanced courses in mathematics and science as I chose the science course in high
I completed my bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Anna University, a premier University in India.
Regrettably the above slogan perfectly suits the present condition of healthcare in my country. An endeavor to bring about a change is the prime motive for me in aspiring to be a Public Health Professional.
In my senior secondary classes I opted for science stream to pursue my dream and taken Physics,
As a kid I have always been curious about “How things work?”, the thing could may be as simple as dynamo attached to a bicycle or something more complex as working of elevators. As a result, I took admission for higher secondary education at S.P. College, Pune with Electronics as a subject. S. P. College is one of the reputed colleges in Pune. It is known for providing excellent research environment to students by providing exceptional laboratories. Taking Electronics as a subject got me started at very basics of computers. I studied different semiconductor devices, learning ROM, DROM and eventually different chips in the process. Also in the final year of my junior college, we were taught assembly language. I was very much fascinated by the device programming. My interest was clearly reflected in my
I am Ishani shah. My father is a business man while my mother is a house maker. I have one brother who is 4years younger than me. He has completed his HSC major in commerce. Right now he is studying BBA in LJ college.
Studying at University of Virginia was my first time living by myself in a foreign country. Turning to math seemed an easy choice for me because I had been passionate about math since elementary school. I started to learn Olympic Mathematics in second grade and enjoyed the challenging topics. I was soon able to learn by myself with the help of training in logical thinking. When I was forced to stay at home for a whole school year due to a heart problem, I read the textbooks on my own and passed the final exams so that I could continue with my class the next year. In fifth grade, I was able to understand abstract concepts such as linear equations and use x and y to represent unknown variables. Winning numerous Olympic Mathematics competitions awards got me into the best middle school and high school in Beijing, where I continued to pursue my affection in Olympic Mathematics. I received the medals of school winner and honor roll of distinction in AMC 12 and went further to AIME due to my outstanding
Mathematics, Physics and Computers were my favorite subjects from the beginning and thus I was prone to get enrolled in a Pre-Engineering College for my higher secondary schooling. I completed my higher secondary schooling in 2010 from reputable Aga khan higher secondary school
Since my childhood, I have special interest in practical subjects which turned my interest into electronics major in my under graduation.
I learned this from my high school teacher, who is a ceaseless learner and never took 'NO' as an answer. I saw him became successful in his career and recognized as a high flier in the campus. Even now he swears he has a lot to learn and things even better.
“Ability is what you are capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it”. These inspiring words from Lou Holtz have kept me motivated towards my goals and encouraged me to aim high in life. After a good deal of self-evaluation I have decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Computer Science in my areas of interest: “Artificial Intelligence” and “Distributed Systems (Cloud Computing)”. This decision followed naturally after carefully analysing my academic background, my areas of interest, and my long term career objective, which is to pursue a research career – either as a teaching faculty in a university, or in an R & D department of the industry.
