We all grow up ad different times, places, and years , but how do you think your life would change if you were born in 1865 or 2012 ? As push comes to shove, we all know that each year , time , and place is different . what if you were born in Africa during the apartheid of born when Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation ? To answer that question , i don't think that i would be the same person if i was , let's say , born in America in the 40’s and 50’s . I know that i would have been treated worse than i am today . i know that , though , i would be the same person when it comes to standing up for what's right . I only believe in doing your part in society . If it means risking my life to stand up for what's right , i will . there is always something that needs justice to be done , and i am always willing to help the unjust become just . Throughout history , people have stood up for unjust causes. From the feminist group to the civil rights movement , and to the Black Lives Matter movement , there has been many who have fought for their rights and equality . As a citizen , i believe , it is one of your many duties to stand up for what you believe in . no one's tears and grievances should be ignored . It is impossible to win an election without your citizens vote . no one is going to vote for anyone if …show more content…
when i see something wrong i always say something . my mouth is never closed to injustice . there are a lot of things that i see in today's society that i speak against . I know ,though , that one voice can't be heard , but ,many voices can be heard . i know that being a minority it's not easy getting heard because of the stereotype that's already put on us . I know that as a society , we can overcome whatever barriers that block our way , whether is our race, gender , sexual orientation , etc. whatever it is , we can go way beyond expectations
If we are seeing injustice, it is our job to say something because if we don´t, it will only hurt the victim more if we don´t say anything. According to Elie Wiesel, ¨ We must take sides.
The individual is justified in acting out in civil disobedience when the government restricts the liberties of the individual. In the Declaration of Independence, our forefathers were going against British laws. It was considered an act of treason for them to separate from Britain and to create a newly formed government for America. Man is selfish by instinct, and those who run the government will try to take away the public's rights as stated under the Bill of Rights. Laws have been created to restrict our unalienable rights, therefore the individual should not allow the government to expand its role. He may choose to do this in several ways. He can tell his congressmen that he feels a law is unjust. If the congressman is unwilling or unable to change the law, he may make a proposition to change the law during the voting periods.
Thomas Jefferson once said, “If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so.” Citizens of any government are often subject to unjust, unreasonable legislation that they are required to follow - but are they? In fact, in order to uphold a government that reflects the will of the people, citizens must protest unfair laws by deliberately disobeying them. This method often results in immediate change, would help to ban immoral laws that can be dangerous to some groups of people, and upholds the entire idea of a fair government: to let the people rule.
Standing Up for What is Right Learning about civil rights was a requirement for many of us during our years in school. We have learned about the leaders and how they have been treated at civil rights movements, we know that because of them the world is how it is today. Although individuals have been taught these things not many was educated about civil rights from a leader’s perspective. A famous leader we all should know about, from his “I have a Dream” speech down to his birthplace; Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
On the hottest day of the year, director Spike Lee's, Do the Right Thing, paints a compelling picture of racial tensions in one of the most diverse cities in the country. Lee’s style of cinematography is shaped specifically to emphasize the racial tensions between the characters, and he accomplishes this by using first-person and direct-address narration, camera angles, camera movements and distance.
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter” Martin Luther King Jr. It is of the utmost importance that people stand up for what you believe is true to cause the change they want to see. Our country was based from the beginning on that belief. Now, everyone has forgotten about the significance of the 1st amendment. We can do it violently such as the birth of America or peacefully like Gandhi or Martin Luther King Jr.
Do you believe that fighting for what’s yours, is right?I believe that fighting for what is yours, is right. There are many reasons why I would want to fight for what’s mine and the first reason is because people would want to protect what’s theirs. Another reason why I would fight is because some people might of had it for a long time. The last reason I would fight is because it might of got passed down from generation to generation.
As Americans citizen we enjoy our rights and freedoms as a society. We enjoy our freedom of speech and our right to choose where to live. With all those freedoms also these rights comes with a legal obligation to uphold and to follow the law of our country. Also there are many American citizens moral obligated to exercise their rights but many times of the case Americans citizens are not forces to legally oblige to follow the law. A good example an American citizen has the right to bear arms but also an American citizen also has the right not to own a weapon. It is really important as an American citizen that we understand the pros and cons of voting.
the united states have free speech and peaceful protest just like mlk and abraham lincoln .....IT is important to stand up for what you believe in because you can make a change . Just like MLK he made a change in this world by just standing up for what he believe in .he believe in justice and peace to win over black americans he brought the world attention how unfairly certain people was treated . Its is always important to stand up for you believe in because you can change the wolr its a lot of people who struggle from a whole lot of stuff like rascism and etc. for example abraham lincoln helped us in this country as the president of united states he issued the emancipation proclamation which process of freedom for american slaves and also
The world we live in today is a crooked one. Even those who are perfectly fine with the way everything has turned out, know there really isn't a solution to all the problems the world encounters. I believe in doing what is considered wrong because standing up for your beliefs is essential to our everyday conflicts.
Why should people stand up for other people’s rights? People should stand up for other people’s rights because some people are not strong. So many people take advantage of other people and start being racist. “Though they undoubtedly tried, Martin Jr.’s parents couldn’t shield him completely from racism. Martin Luther King Sr. fought against racial prejudice, not just because his race suffered, but because he considered racism and segregation to be an affront to God's will. He strongly discouraged any sense of class superiority in his children which left a lasting impression on Martin Jr.” from Martin Luther King Jr. Biography. This evidence illustrated that Martin could not take any racism any more and considered racism to be an affront to God’s will.
In our lives, fighting for ourselves and what we believe in comes naturally. I can’t count on two hands the number of emails I’ve sent regarding my grades, or the number of conferences I’ve had with school faculty trying to bring more engineering classes to my school. It’s easy to stand up for ourselves. Standing up for others, especially those who have done wrong by us, is another story.
There’s always someone who is being bullied and does not really have the strength to stand up for themselves.Being the person I am I feel the need to help that person. It's not right for someone to do or say hurtful things to others.I care for anyone it happens to , but it seems that it usually happens to people with special needs and that's where it really hits home.
When will we stop being unjust? Our society today is full of problems and issues. We not only experience economic and politic issues, but we face social problems as well. One main problem that our society must acknowledge is injustice. However, many members of our society are blind not to recognize that permitting unjust and unfair acts is an actual injustice. They believe it’s appropriate to judge others, to make inappropriate comments and to be disrespectful.
Growing up I spoke quietly; I was informed I had to speak up is anyone was to hear me, what I wasn’t taught is it’s imperative to speak out to be genuinely listened to. In light of recent times when we have demagogues pinning groups of people against others it has never been more vital and burdensome to speak out. Our voices is the pinnacle of our freedom, but in today’s society when someone speaks out against oppression they are slapped across the face for being too politically correct or sensitive, this has brought unnecessary discretion for speaking out. I have a dream that those silenced will find the courage to speak out and loud to have their grievances heard. Countless times I’ve heard insulting things from my peers. When mocked because
