What caused the American Revolution? The colonists were not fight for separation from Britain yet. However they were fighting for their rights as citizens. Three of the reasons for their actions were: the Stamp Act, violations of basic rights, and the Intolerable Acts. These events led to the American Revolution. By 1763 Britain was in debt. The government was in need of financial help, they constructed a plan called the Stamp Act. It was a form of taxing the people without their consent. This angered many people.
