For my confirmation saint project, I have picked, St. Rita of Cascia. St. Rita has a background of change as she was always been undecided on whether to believe in god or not. When it came to being religious and in her beliefs she was always turning on and of her faith. St. Rita was forced to marriage at an early age and was unhappy for 20 years after her marriage ended her two sons died. She was left alone with got and that's when her faith began to grow. St. Rita asked to enter the religious life and was denied.although after a couple times of trying she was finally accepted and she was asked to take care and plant a dead grapevine. With time as her faith grew the vine also grew. To this date her vine and grapes are still growing, people
For my Confirmation I choose St.Marguerite Bourgeoys. Marguerite was born on April 17, 1620. Marguerite had survived many difficulties in the twenty-six years she had been in wilderness of Canada. She had survived the Iroquois attacks, a fire that destroyed her village, and plagues on the ships that she took back and forth to France, but nothing could stop her from achieving her dreams. The only thing that threatened her hopes and dreams more than anything else was what her own bishop told her in 1679. He had told her that she had to join her Congregation of Notre Dame with its teaching sisters to a religious order of Ursulines that stayed in one place and were close together. She had been told to do this before. Marguerite had overcome
(speaker name) walked intro the colorfully decorated classroom she would be speaking to. On the dotted carpet in the corner were around 20 children looking to be about 8 or 9 years old. (speaker) waited for their teacher to quiet them before sitting down. All of the children looked at their visitor curiously.
For my Saint report, I chose Saint Veronica. Saint Veronica is known as the lady who offered a fabric to Jesus so he could wipe his face while in transit to his torturous killing. The material is accepted to exist today in the Vatican and is viewed as a standout amongst the most prized relics of the Congregation. Saint Veronica is not specified in the book of scriptures, but rather is known not by Catholic custom and in the 6th Station of the Cross, "Veronica Wipes the Substance of Jesus."
civilization that was once rich with skill and vision derived from the decor elements untamed by age coexists in his art form. Amongst the tribes the Keres, Tompiros, Tewas, Tiwas, Towas, Piros, Zuni, as well as Utes, Navajos, and Apaches all have similar villages. The word pueblos came from villages in Spanish. Ultimately the rulers of Santa Fe received a warning before the revolt broke out.
In the final resolution concerning religion, Chicanas declare, “Revolutionary change of [the] Catholic Church or for it to get out of the way.”
I chose St. Margaret as my patron saint because she gave a lot of time and money to the poor. She read the Bible daily, even though people (like her husband) didn’t have the same beliefs as her. She was focused on her faith and encouraged people in her life to live a devout life and grow in prayer and holiness. I admire that she barely slept every night and fasted often in order to spend more time worshipping the Lord. St. Margaret is someone who I will continue to admire even after my
When picking my Confirmation Saint, I wanted someone who inspired me, who I was interested in, and who I could strive relate to. A Saint who perfectly fit this description for me was St. Helen.
There are many names for Our Lady of Guadalupe like the Virgin of Guadalupe, and Tonantzin, but they all mean the goddess that protected the people and came to Juan Diego. Over thousands of years the story of Tonantzin, what the native Aztec people called their Virgin Mother Mary, has been passed down and celebrated in the Mexican culture for all of the good and protection that they believe she has brought them. In Rodolfo Corky Gonzales’ epic poem “Yo Soy Joaquin” he references this Aztec goddess, Tonantzin because she is a religious figure, she was considered a native and she is a symbol of independence.
It was her second text, Admiraçion operum Dey, Teresa de Cartagena explores the controversial idea of equality. In the opening lines of the text, she apologises for her delayed response to Juana’s request, and forcefully claims ownership of Arboleda de los obras enfermos with the intention of contesting the disbelievers (“Prudentes Varones”) who refused to accept that a woman was capable of writing a religious treatise. She describes physical and mental state using military or warlike imagery. She then begins to lay out the foundation for her argument; that Arboleda was addressing God to whom attributes the enlightenment that made her understanding and her writing possible. For Teresa, denying acknowledgement of her authorship is to not only
I was excited to receive your letter and I am equally thrilled to respond to your request. For thousands of years mankind has conflicted against the power of evil in order to reach a state of harmony with God. The many different views of each religion seem to have compounded the issue of who may be right and who may be wrong. Regardless of our personal beliefs, our goal seems to always remain the same, to be united with Christ in heaven. The poems of St. Teresa of Avila, My Beloved One is Mine and Christ Has No Body, are illustrative of the thoughtful and emotional impact Christ had on the life of St. Teresa of Avila, and also illuminate various catholic beliefs. The goal of the poems is to allow the reader to become closer to God,
St. Rita is my second home. I came here in 2009 and have been here since kindergarden. My eight years at St. Rita are comig to an end. I have made an amazing group of friends since I have been here and they have become my brothers and sisters. They have been with me through the good and the bad, through thin and thick. They have supported me endlessly and I cannot describe the love I hold for them. My teachers have also been there for me. They have helped me grow and mature. They have guided me and shown me the way to good and helped me avoid wrong. The teachers at St. Rita- from kindergarden to seventh grade- have seen me improve and develop in all aspects of life: mathematics, my social life, emotionally, and spritually.
The first religious experience Saint Teresa had, she did not see Jesus, but was only conscious of Christ’s presence. Saint Teresa was petrified at first. All she could do was cry with fear; when the lord spoke one word to her she was filled with feelings of happiness and was free from fear. She later went to her confessor to tell him about the incident that had occurred. Saint Teresa stated,
St. Rita is the place I have come to almost every day since 2008 from when I was in Pre-K. I have always dreaded waking up early and coming to school, but now that I will not be coming here every Monday through Friday I have learned to love waking up and coming here to learn and spend time with the friends that I have known since I was four. Even though St. Rita is just another elementary and middle school to so many people, it is my home. I can talk to my teachers like they are family and my classmates have become my brothers and sisters. Everyone here has been here for me through everything. I have had good times and bad, but my friends and I can now look back at the bad times and laugh about them. I have at least
Saints are always different from everyday people, thus no one understands them in their lives, only a lot of years after their death. Joan of Arc was a saint like this as well, she was too far ahead of her times and was killed by her fellow men, because they didn’t know what else to do. She was canonized in 1920, after 489 years of her death. In my opinion, she was not only a saint, but meant to be an angel and showed a good example to all of us, how to behave ourselves in the name of honour, honesty, and glory.
Saint Philip Neri is an important person to learn about. He was born on July 21, 1515 Philip was from Florence, Italy. St. Philip Neri’s feastday is May 26, 1595. He was Canonised in 1622. Saint Philip Neri has a symbol of a Lily, he had this symbol because he was so pure.
