"St. Michael the Archangel" For my saint, I picked Saint Michael the Archangel. I picked St. Michael because Michael is my middle name. Saint Michael is a name meaning "He who is like God" in Hebrew. He is said to be placed over all the angels. He is the Patron Saint of soldiers, security guards, and sick people. Saint Michael is one of the seven archangels, him being one of the three mention in the Bible. He is the leader of the army of God during the Lucifer upraising. It is said by Pope Gregory the Great "Whenever some act of wondrous power must be performed, Michael is sent, so that his action and his name may make it clear that no one can do what God does by his superior power." Saint Michael is one of the principal angels. In Latin, …show more content…

For my Confirmation I choose St.Marguerite Bourgeoys. Marguerite was born on April 17, 1620. Marguerite had survived many difficulties in the twenty-six years she had been in wilderness of Canada. She had survived the Iroquois attacks, a fire that destroyed her village, and plagues on the ships that she took back and forth to France, but nothing could stop her from achieving her dreams. The only thing that threatened her hopes and dreams more than anything else was what her own bishop told her in 1679. He had told her that she had to join her Congregation of Notre Dame with its teaching sisters to a religious order of Ursulines that stayed in one place and were close together. She had been told to do this before. Marguerite had overcome
St Patricks Cathedral is the mother church of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne. It was named after St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. The church was officially opened in 1997, however the first mass took place in February 1858.
The day of the weak associated with St. Michael is Sunday, so it’s clear that his planetary rulership is over the Sun. The Hebrew name translates to “brilliant one” or “one who is brilliant” and the Archangel plays important role in Abrahamic religions and Kabala , otherwise ( in
The college Mount St. Joseph, which offers Sports Medicine, and Athletic Training undergraduate degree, and as a major, presides in Cincinnati, Ohio. Information from SparkBox states that MSJ was established by the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati in the year 1920, as the first Catholic University for women living in southwestern Ohio. The first year of its opening, the only attending students were 20 female students. As years passed, the exponential growth in enrolling students was staggering. This encouraged the Sisters of Charity to create plans in order to further advanced the property meeting at the crossroads of Delhi and Neeb, opening a new
Strathcona has a significantly higher percentage of people who bike, walk, and take transit to work compared to Vancouver as a whole. There are a few reasons why this may be. Firstly, Strathcona is next to the Main Street Science World skytrain station. Secondly, as a residential area there are few busy roads and many bike paths that allow for safer travel. Thirdly, there are also several low income housing complexes; people who live in them will not have the income level to maintain a car. Finally, Strathcona is gentrifying, attracting people who see the car as harmful to the environment and not in line with their moral compass.
This is very similar to the narco-culture which is concentered in northern Mexico. Due to the increasing volume of drug trafficking in this area has been plagued by the effects of this crime and the people who are involved in it. With the emergence of the drug market, Malverde was adopted as a narcosanto—saint of the drug traffickers (Quinones). However, Malverde is not just the narcosanto—he is a saint of the poor, the handicapped, construction workers and migrants. Often the saints of Latin America are viewed through a Western perspective and are trying to be explained in that manner which limits the entirety of what the saint means to the people of the region (Mills). Malverde is a saint for the poor, which has been worshiped for decades

Gabriel is an angel who serves as a messenger for God to certain people. He is one of the three archangels. Gabriel is mentioned in both the Old and the New Testaments of the Bible. First, in the Old Testament, Gabriel appears to the prophet Daniel to explain his visions. Gabriel is described as, "one who looked like man," as he interprets Daniel's visions. He speaks to Daniel while he is sleeping. After Gabriel's first visit, Daniel becomes tired and sick for days. Gabriel later visits Daniel again providing him with more insight and understanding in an answered prayer.
St. Stephen was pretty intresting saint. There is nothing in the bible that says of his date of birth. Moreover, there is nothing on his birthplace as well. The bible never states anything about his childhood. The only clue about his family history was his name “Stephen”. His name in Greek is Stephanos which means wreath or crowned. This made people believe he was Hellenistic Jew. He died on the year 36 A.D. That is all we know about his background.
In my opinion most people in this world have a religion and faith in God. As we can see in today's world, we have different religions and gods. In back in the days, there is some segregation between christian and other religions. I think that is what the author Geneluen Yang is trying to bring up in these two stories. In Boxer, the village people thinks that christians are devils and they will destroy their nation. They are trying to kill all the christians and trying to save their country. In Saints, Vibina, the main character in this story, is a normal girl that don't like christen and she see as devil in her family. The treatment that she received from Dr. Won leads her to find peace in christen. Vibina decided to join in christian family because she wants to prove everyone that the religion as well as herself is not devil.
A martyr is someone who is killed because of their religious or other beliefs. A famous martyr that many people look at in the church today is Saint Stephen. Stephen was often called the protomartyr, or the first martyr of Christianity. Stephen's original name in Greek is given as Stephanos meaning "crown". This is given to him because he is invested with a crown on martyrdom. If you want to learn more about Stephen you can find him in the New Testament in the Acts of Apostles. He is mentioned in Acts as one of the Greek speaking Hellenistic Jews selected to participate in a fairer distribution of welfare to the Greek speaking widows.
Gabriel is one of the three angels mentioned by name in the bible. Even though Jewish tradition identifies Gabriel as one of seven archangels, the Bible does not actually state that Gabriel is an archangel. Yet Gabriel clearly has a high position among the angels since his name is mentioned in God’s Word along with Lucifer and Michael. The angel Gabriel is mentioned in Daniel 8:16-26 and 9:20-27. Gabriel, "one who looked like a man," interprets Daniel's visions, and Daniel "was terrified and fell prostrate". Gabriel speaks to Daniel while he is in a deep sleep, and Daniel is tired and sick for days after being with Gabriel . In Chapter 9, verse 20-21, Gabriel again appears to Daniel as he was praying, giving him insight and understanding
Lucifer had powers that could easily overwhelm any opponent that was foolish enough to stand in his way. He could kill with a glace, destroy with a thought, and obliterate anyone or anything with just a snap of his fingers, but just as all angels, he needed a vessel before he could do any of that. He would need one special human to say yes to him, so he could take over their body and start the apocalypse. Just like his brother, Michael had all the same abilities, but he used the more helpful ones for diviner purposes. He could heal any wound, cure any sickness, and teleport anywhere in space and time, but if he chose he could be just as destructive as his
The L-formed tract of arrive on the south and west was possessed by the administration structures. The Cathedral of Saint James was more than just a cathedral, it was also a destination pilgrims desired to have seen, perhaps because it held the body of St. James. the cathedral is entered through large double doors at the end of a transept rather than through a western portal. However, though other entrances had been designed, all welcomers once inside entered a transept which mirrored the nave in height and structure. The nave and transept both contain two stories, and compound piers with attached half columns support the barrel vault on all four sides. The entrance does not have a clerestory, instead light enters the nave and transept indirectly through windows. According to pilgrims, the cathedral was large, spacious, admirable, and beautiful.
