Sri Ganesha Temple of Utah The Sri Ganesha temple of Utah opened for worship on May 2, 2003. They are still adding on to the temple which I witnessed on my visit on November 9, 2015. The ethnic Hindus of Utah used the Dream Circle until the temple was ready for worship. There are around 10,000 Indians in Utah today. The history of Hinduism does not involve a person who started the faith. The Hindus came to the United States for the excellent jobs here. They immigrated to Utah in the beginning of the last century. There was great difficulty in coming up with the money to build the temple. A couple of years of searching went into locating the perfect land parcel for the temple. The temple design is different from that of a normal

The temple has several of the various Hindu deities that I saw, though Ganesha is their main focal point of at the temple. The temple was painted the to match the climate of Utah. “Granite Goddesses Sri Lakshmi and Sri Saraswathi adorn the entrance of the main sanctum giving special importance to wealth and learning, the main quests of Hindu immigrants to USA”(Skantharajah 33). The addition of a parking lot is probably unusual nowadays for a Hindu temple. There is a cultural center directly attached to the Sri Ganesha temple. Removing shoes is not required to enter the center, only for the main temple as I learned.
They were building something in front of the temple when I went there on Sunday November 8, 2015. They created the temple to the best of their ability while cutting costs along the way, and construction still

One Hindu, Preeya Prakash is just as normal as the next person. She is obtaining an education like most other people. Some people inquired of her of where she came from even though she was born in the U.S. Preeya was encouraged by her parents to do more than just school all the time. She doesn’t feel as if she had ever been harassed here. Like others, Preeya doesn’t want to feel out of place, she wants to be like everyone else. She feels other religions need to know they are not superior in any way, shape or form. Like most others she would like to marry to someone with her
A church was needed, one that could do double duty as a school, a real building to replace the bush arbor that had served that purpose in the past. A kind land owner, one of the Fouche family after whom Fouche Gap is named, offered to deed ¾ acre to the congregation as a location for their church. A fire thwarted their first attempt to build, but undeterred, they made a second building in 1879, naming it Glendale Chapel. The men cut down white oak trees to be used as sills. You can see the axe marks where they squared off the logs, and sawed planks were used for the walls. It still stands today, but only just barely.
Hank’s physician assistant Divya Katdare, is of Indian decent, who’s parents to do not approve of her working in the medical field. Instead, her family sticks to the traditional Indian cultural roles of arranged marriage, which eventually falls apart and becomes shunned by her parents for a time for not obeying their wishes. In this instance, we can see the cultural values of the United States beginning to shine through. Freedom to choose and marry whomever a person wants is a cultural norm and something that is prided upon by Americans. As a culture, we tend to look down on cultural traditions where individuals are forced into arranged marriages. This also goes along with stereotypical views of Indian culture. If their children do not obey the parents, they suffer from being shunned by their
Description/Source: The ruins from the temple show religion in Mayan culture because this is where the Mayans went as a place of worship.
They utilized these large structures and built around them. The structure was built from surrounding red rock which appear to be somewhat flat in appearance and held in place with a type of mortar. Obviously, they were very knowledgeable with building these type of structures and used the material around them with great consideration. The structure was huge and would have had multiple stories which could have consisted of 100’s of rooms which could hold multiple families. In the center of the building there is a roundish “room” that looks like it was very tall. I have heard that this room was for garbage collecting but I personally do not believe this. I do not think they would have thrown their garbage in a room in the middle of their structure. I believe that this could have been some type of ceremony room or maybe even a common room of some kind. Towards the right of the structure there is a natural down ground where you can see pottery shards just lying on the ground. I believe this could have been midden but it was a large amount of pottery. I also believe that maybe the broken pottery could have also been a sacrifice of some

I believe that God commands it because it is already right or wrong. This could possibly mean that whether or not God exist, those right or wrong actions were already right or wrong instinctively. The only difference is that, some people believe that they need a creator or God to tell them what is morally correct or wrong to believe it is.
Sacred spaces or places are found in many sectors of the early twentieth-century. Italian American Catholics regularly had altars within the home and, in a time of clean living, were often discouraged from using them in tenement housing. Mexican American Catholics, on the other hand, created a sacred-secular space within their community where tradition and religion could merge harmoniously. Alternatively, Latter-day Saints constructed their own sacred city near Salt Lake City, Utah. Whether in the home, community, or an entire city, sacred spaces existed in many facets of early twentieth-century America.
The Synagogue is located around a historic area on St. Charles Street. The synagogue is located across from homes and a street car. When you look at the temple you can tell that the architecture might have been influencing from the time it was built in. The temple is big and beautiful. From the outside of the temple, you can see the dome that has these diamond designs on the top. Also, in the front of the building on each corner of the buildings, they have the Star of David symbols. When walking up the stairs to the temple, you see these three brown oak doors and two
2). The Church History Library was created in 2009 to house records for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the building contains materials that chronicle the history of the Church from 1830 to the present day (“Temple Square”, 2017 - 10 Church History Library, para 1) . Utah is known for its many outdoor activities and beautiful National Parks, but Temple Square attracts three to five million people every year, this makes Temple Square Utah’s largest tourist attraction (Pledger, 2016, “Discover Temple Square: 8 Interesting Facts”, para. 9).
Architecture comes with many significant meanings, including religious significance. The Pantheon, built from 118 to 125 CE in Rome, Italy, was a temple made to worship the Roman gods and goddesses. This temple is one of the most important buildings both in history and architecture, influencing many other monuments with its form, such as The Dome of the Rock. The Dome of the Rock, built from 687 to 692 CE, was the first great Islamic building. Located in Jerusalem, it is a shrine still very significant to many religions, such as Judaism and Christianity, today. Though not resembling each other in appearance, these buildings are extremely similar, in terms of religious meaning. The Pantheon and the Dome of the Rock, through their own distinctive form and similar location backgrounds, illuminate religion as the most important factor in each society, as these monuments symbolize a sense of unification throughout the city.
I not only looked forward to, but also welcomed it being a tedious program packed with lots of challenges and restrictions. I now knew that the past programs didn't fail me: I failed them. Regardless the task, I believed I had already experienced my last failure. Besides, this rehabilitation program consisted of an immense support system that reached out and provided support around the clock. I'm sure the previous programs did as well; however, I never permitted anyone within close proximity of me to provide such support. I stayed isolated most of my time there, and whenever there were group gatherings, I was present in the physical form only. That is precisely why I departed those programs equally unequipped and unenlightened about
The city of Petra was built to illuminate special statutes and monuments (Ancient). The people of Petra worshiped the sun and other ideas related to it such as, equinoxes and solstices (Ancient). During the winter solstice, the sun aligns with the statues and illuminates them during the day (Ancient). Their religious traditions have impacted modern day ways of worshiping the one true God. Recently, people have constructed statues and places of worship. For example, Christ the Redeemer, located in Rio, was assembled for people to worship and admire. Furthermore, modern day monuments are used to express religious
marriages that occur in India and the United States have several dramatic differences. Marriages in India are based solely on parental decisions, whereas in the United States a marriage is based on individualism. Who, why and how the spouse is chosen, is very different in both countries. Most Americans date to discover who their future spouse is going to be, and they know the person very well before marriage. In India, dating is not something that occurs. Most individuals in India do not have any interaction with the bride or groom prior to their wedding day, therefore, they do not personally know who they are marrying (Nanda 624). Though these differences exist, pros and cons reflect on each of them.
Meanwhile the articles “Multicultural community organizing: a strategy for change”by Gutierrez, Lorraine and “Multiculturalism and "American" religion: the case of Hindu Indian Americans” by Kurien, Prema relates to each other on the perspective of the voices of those within the multicultural community and what the disadvantages are living in a society that has not completely conformed to different cultures and religions. For example in "American" religion: the case of Hindu Indian Americans” Kurien touched bases on how Hindus were treated so unfairly that it was time for them to speak up so they wrote a letter to the president at time saying “ Hindus are very much a part of our nation…….. Hindus are a peace-loving people. We never
Around the inside of the building were candles, incense, and different statues of what I'm sure were a multitude of separate Hindu deities. Of course, being relatively new to the Hindu gods and goddesses, I wasn't able to identify too many, but I did recognize the remover of obstacles, Ganesh—for what I figure is one rather obvious reason. I could only assume other popular divine figures including lord Vishnu and the mother goddess Devi resided with these other statues.
