Time waits for no one. When a paper is due on a specific date it must handed in however and whenever the proctor demands. When playing a sport, it calls for you to attend at the designated time, you’re sacrificing time to do your homework. Time does not, will not and never will stop for you. Constantly, humans are racing against the clock which we all revolve around and thus calling for time management. Being able to manage our time wisely is a skill that is always improving, but never perfected because we cannot predict what time has in store for us. Juggling high school flag football, family financial issues, rigorous assignments and personal interests takes its toll on time management. Attending school for nearly eight hours, from seven in the morning to 2:45 in the evening, envelopes an immense amount of time, but all for a beneficial cause. With just under seven hours left to myself, including the bus ride, what such things can get done? Living far from the school campus, it costs an hour on the bus, deducting an entire hour meant for educational work. Except, that would be the results if the school had no flag football, which it does. Therefore, costing me two hours after school to attend practice, build chemistry and lead the team as their quarterback. Managing flag football and homework is undoubtedly challenging because I want to excel in both areas; education and athletics. Game days are most difficult to manage time; arriving home 8 at night and still having
The initial shock of the significant workload and expectations can take their toll, but good time management skills can prevent multiple late nights in a row to get assignments done on time. Kelci Lynn Lucier has worked in higher education for ten years, and has experienced students struggle to try and find the balance between extracurricular activities, personal activities, and education priorities. Luckily, Lucier has four tips to help best use the time provided in a day. Lucier’s first step focuses on managing ones academic time and how it needs to be the top priority above all other curricular activities, stating: “It's important to remind yourself why you're in college in the first place: to graduate” (Lucier). Lucier’s second step is be able to manage personal time, she talks about how unrealistic it is to always be working, studying, or learning, she wants students to try and find time to do something fun with friends or a club. Lucier’s third step is to wkeep the students health in mind, it does no good to stay up until two in the morning studying over a history mid-term, only to be half asleep for the test anyway; sleep is important and without can only increase the stress. Lucier’s fourth and final step is to not be afraid to seek help with your time management, she states: “The most important thing to have for time
Mark Rowh, the author of the article “Beat the Clock: Students share time-management strategies that can work for you,” talks about the struggle that students have when it comes to time management. Rowh introduces us to the topic of his article by mentioning a high school senior and her daily life. He goes into detail about how her day passes by, and how she struggles to find time devoted to her well-being. He did a good job when he provided us with an example that we can all relate to. “Life is a balance of both busy moments and time for yourself,” says Rowh (2006, p. 24). I totally agree with him on that statement and I always try to make time for myself after I complete my responsibilities. The author collected five strategies from busy
One of the most important self-management skills involves controlling and budgeting your time. Gaining control of your time and your life involves identifying time wasters and determining your peak energy level. Managing time also involves identifying goals, setting priorities, and creating an action plan. Determining what tasks should be done first and overcoming procrastination are major factors in creating success. All these steps and issues involve critical thinking skills. Use critical thinking to
Instructions: Your outline should look EXACTLY like this one (i.e. same numbering, same sections, same spacing, etc.). Simply delete the blue text and replace it with your own black text.
3. Managing time can be quite stressful for anyone as busy as the modern day college student. Many students lose sleep or feel as if they just don’t have enough time to accomplish what they need to accomplish.
Attention Getter: So I’m pretty sure everyone here has had an important assignment to complete before like a project or essay. And most of us usually plan it out where we do a portion of it every day. For example, something like this chart here. But then the next thing you know, the deadline is fast approaching and you still haven’t come close to completing your assignment. And we end up somewhere like this. Well, I believe that we can all relate to this and we have all done this to ourselves before. I’m talking about procrastination.
So, today we are in New Year 2016 and I hope everyone has their own new year resolutions or goals, such as thin people wish to gain weight, fat people wish to lose weight, some wish to spend less to become rich so that they can spend more, and some they wish to quit bad habits. So, I would like to wish good luck for your resolutions to be achieved.
Similar to the study by (Author 2), a study by (Author 3) looked at time use and academic outcomes. Good use of time can be related to motivation, while academic outcomes can be seen as a students GPA. The study found that the number of hours studying was
It is said that “Time and Tide waits for none”. As an upcoming college freshman I need to understand the value of time to succeed in life. I have to understand that everything needs to be prioritized no matter the case. That being able to manage my time correctly will teach me discipline which is exactly what I need to get through college with the goals I have set for myself. Individuals who stick to a time plan are more likely the people who realize their goals and objectives within the shortest possible time span. This will help me get my work done before the deadline instead of working on it the night before.
Macan et al. (1990) [1] done a study on 165 students to find out the effects of time management on students’ stress, self perception of performance and Grade Point Average (GPA). Their study revealed major findings. One of the most predictive independent factors of Time Management Behaviour scale was perceived control of time [1]. Students reported significantly higher evaluations of their performance, much work and life satisfaction, least role ambiguity, least role overload and fewer job caused tensions, who perceived control of their time [1].
Attention Getter: We all have been there when we wait until the last minute to write a paper or study for an exam. We struggle to get these things done and this struggle is called procrastination.
Time management is something teenagers can learn while working while in school, or if they also in sports or other extra-curricular activities. They will have to balance their time between work, school, and everything else that they do. This will put them in a position where time management skills are needed to perform well at all there tasks including working and school.
Hi, my names Sarah and I would like to inform you on something myself you and many Americans have problems with. I chose to do this speech on something I do on a regular basis and I know I’m not completely alone. Whether you’re a person who puts things off to the last minute or you’d love to get things done with right away, I have to assume that all of us at some point has become a victim to procrastination.
You may have heard me say, “It’s better to aim for the stars and miss, than to aim for a pile of crap and hit it.” The original saying is from Michelangelo. He said, “The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we hit it.”
How I manage time is a reflection of what I value. Managing my time corresponds to how successful I will be in college and throughout life. Knowing and setting priorities to meet goals, carrying out plans, taking control of time, and staying focused are some events that are involved with time management. For many of us, balancing school with work and family is the greatest challenge involved with prioritizing. Good advance planning will help in meeting these challenges. Staying focused is usually difficult, especially for first-year students. Staying focused entails remembering and dedicating to the most important purpose for being in college. Sacrificing unnecessary commitments and keeping my
