Fruit flies are annoying and seem to come from nowhere, are hard to kill, and once they appear they seem to stick around forever!
Well, nobody cares where they come from, just as long as they leave! Traditional methods like swatting them, spraying them with insecticide often prove futile.
Because, you can never swat them all and, who wants to spray insecticide over food?
So, what is the solution?
Trapping them!
Yes, trapping fruit flies is amazingly effective way to get rid of fruit flies. Today in this article, I am going to show you different types of fruit fly traps, their construction, effectiveness, and working.
In addition to this, we will also see different types of homemade and store-brought baits/Lures and see their effectiveness.

The attractants like apple cider vinegar, wine, or tequila contain acetic acid molecules and hence the fruit flies are attracted to them.
Apple Cider Vinegar Fruit Fly Trap:
I can bet, you will hear the name of apple cider vinegar traps every time, someone talks about fruit fly traps.
Apple cider vinegar is one of the most popular attractants used in fruit fly traps. Fruit flies have a great affinity towards apple cider vinegar. To use it as a lure in fly traps – Mix a cup of apple cider vinegar with 3 – 5 drops of dish soap.
Dish soap breaks the surface tension of the attractant and causes the trapped flies to sink as soon as they come in contact with the lure.
Another important tip is that – Heating the apple cider vinegar in the microwave for about 10 -15 seconds before using it, makes it more effective. Household vinegar is composed of diluted acetic acid with water.
When the vinegar is heated, the water molecules evaporate, thereby increasing the concentration of acetic acid in the mixture. Doing this releases more of the vinegar’s fragrance and hence attracts more fruit flies.
Apple cider vinegar can be used with any of three traps mentioned
Maintaining healthy cultures is essential in achieving the proper outcome expected for this lab. Before preparation of vials, or observation of flies, the workbenches and equipment, such as brushes, pipets, and measuring tools were wiped down with 70% ethanol ,and fly pads, as well as Co2 guns, were thoroughly disinfected with kim wipes. Hands were required to be thoroughly washed with anti-bacterial soap and completely dry, especially before preparation of food. Distilled water and other required sources were regularly changed in order to maintain
If a pillbug is exposed to bread, then it will be attracted to the bread.
Once they reach their mature years, they help the drone bees gather nectar, pollen, and water for making honey.
In chapter nine of The Real World, Ferris and Stein (2014) describe the construction of gender and sexuality in society. They start out by defining sex and gender are not interchangeable, but sex is biological and gender is defined by social or cultural aspects (Ferris & Stein, 2014, p. 243). Furthermore, gender inequality was introduced into the chapter by expressing that in the past, females had less power in society because of their biological differences from males (Ferris & Stein, 2014, p. 246). Although, biological differences are not the only reason why gender inequality exists in society today. For instance, from a functionalist perspective, certain characteristics make women and men better suited for certain jobs (Ferris & Stein, 2014,
In America there was no secret that owning slaves was a big deal, it was forced labor. The rate at which they worked brought in money which allowed the owners to buy more land and slaves, therefore gaining wealth and power. I believe this picture is a famous one because it shows the price at which the power was paid for, by treating humans like property.
2.Make a trap by mixing a few drops of dish soap with apple cider vinegar--This will trap the flies and prevent them from mating and laying eggs.
They delight in searching your home ... The bugs have to be stopped, or your home will certainly fall under their hands!
House flies are commonly found around homes and businesses. Various method has been developed to attract and trapped these flies either by mechanical or chemical means but hygienic attractant for locally use is the main problems for Malaysian use. This research paper describes a comparative study between local and commercial on the best bait to attract house flies. The food industries, the fish market and chicken farm were selected for conducting the experiments for 6 days. Then, identifying the volatile compound for the most effective baits was determined. This was done by using chemical test, were characterized its active compound with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS; QP2010, AOC-205 Shimadzu Auto Sampler). The finding of the

11 Introduction: This experiment was designed to explore the environmental choices a fruit fly makes. Two choice chambers where constructed, these chambers act as a capture or holding area for both the decaying fruit and the fruit flies.
This experiment involved the testing of pill bugs and whether or not pill bugs prefer fruit over vegetables. The experiment results concluded that the hypothesis was incorrect; that pill bugs do not prefer fruit over vegetables. In the experiment, we observed twenty pill bugs over several five minute intervals. After five minutes, the number of pill bugs near the apple and lettuce were counted, as well as the ones that remained in the center of the container. The experiment was repeated, and the lettuce and apple locations were switched the second time to make sure location was not a factor in the results. In the first thirty-minute experiment, the pill bugs seemed to start off and gradually move toward the lettuce. Near the end of the experiment,
Muscovy ducks have become a popular natural predator in the control of house flies on dairy farms. Many dairy farmers have taken to also raising these ducks to help reduce the amount of House Flies in their dairy facilities. House flies are considered pests to dairy farms because they spread bacteria whenever the land, which is of large concern in the dairy industry. They also are a nuisance to dairy cattle, even though they do not bite. They still disturb the cows when they land on them, and the cows cannot swat them away. (Taylor, Moon, Mark, 2012). In a study done by Glofchekie & Surgeoner, 1993, the efficiency of the use of Muscovy ducks in dairy operations was tested to see if the presence of the ducks was effective in reducing house fly
Insecticidal soaps have many advantages when compared to other insecticides. They are inexpensive to use, are among the safest pesticides, leave no harsh residue, are natural products that are virtually non-toxic to animals and birds, and can be used on vegetables up to harvest (Williamson). Most beneficial insects are not harmed by soap sprays. Soaps are fatty acids that can degrade or dissolve the protective layers of the insect cuticle, causing the insect to desiccate. Insecticidal soaps kill by suffocation. They disrupt the cellular membranes of the insect, and they remove protective waxes that cover the insect, resulting in dehydration (Williamson). Insecticidal soaps are considered nontoxic to humans and many beneficial insects, but selectively kill certain pest insects (Murray 6). Insecticidal soaps breakdown easily in the environment, and therefore they do not stay in the environment (Pundt). It is less likely that resistance to insecticidal soaps will develop as quickly as to the more traditional pesticides. Resistance within the insect tends to develop more quickly with materials that have a very specific mode of action (Pundt). My investigation will expand knowledge in this area by determining what type of organocides are most effective in their killing ability. It

Nowadays, there are always flying insects that are wandering around in a certain place and people seem to be having a very hard time catching them and killing them at the same time. These flies are a nuisance to every person because nobody would want to have flies in the house. People would find these flying insects flying around mostly in their homes, however, they cannot seem to find the source of this problem. This has occurred every year and yet, people could not find the source of these problems. Some factors that could be affecting this problem is the change in weather of every month or season, things that are dirty that may attract flies, etc. The magnitude of this problem may increase if a solution is not implemented to solve this problem as soon as possible.
