Joan Miró’s Danseuse Espagnole, or Spanish Dancer, is a famous Surrealist painting. The painting gives an abstract, formless representation of the titular “Spanish Dancer” and was originally presented as a part of a set of three Spanish themed paintings by Miró in l945. Spanish Dancer shows how deeply Miró was influenced by his Spanish heritage and shows his dedication to destroying the way his art was previously perceived by presenting an almost unrecognizable abstract form of a familiar subject.

According to the website Biography, “Mexican-born dancer and choreographer José Limón is recognized as an important figure in the American modern dance movement of the 1930s-1960s” (Biography). Jose Limon is one of the Ballet dancer sand choreographers in the 1930s. Even though he is considered to be a Ballet dancer, Limon is well-known for performing and choreographing a great amount of Modern Dance piece. The dance is recognized as the only space of coexistence between men and women. A symbolic representation of the relationship between the sexes where their communication compasses their feet, body and arms. The world was danzon, the dance, not the desire to walk with men. It is consistently recognized that the three activities that devotes her life in Mexico City are totally full of guidelines and rules. Julia’s movements follow a pre-established routine, and danzon, like dancing, is the best example of this pre-established order - the discipline and the inability to improvise. It is a dance, like most, where women must go with your partner, where Carmelo puts his hand on her waist and Julia follows his lead.
The third piece, “Danza del trigo” and “Danza final” from the ballet Estancia, by Alberto Ginastera created quite a few pictures in imagination. What started as a soft and
Edgar Degas’ Little Dancer Aged Fourteen is a symbol for all little girls with dreams bigger than themselves. The Little Dancer is a statue of a young girl made from all natural materials, created by the artist Edgar Degas. The Little Dancer has a small head with small features; Degas was not trying to emphasize her face, but her minute features display an expression of hope, almost jovial in a way. The air of her expression conveys the quiet discipline of a dancer and therefore her passion and love for ballet. The legs of the dancer are long compared to her torso, turned out, as a dancers always are. This turnout becomes natural after working strenuously every single day, trying to perfect the dancer’s art; standing parallel feels abnormal.

Girl before a Mirror, an oil on canvas painting by Spanish artist Pablo Picasso, shows two sides of a girl; one which is illustrated with a dark tone and one with a vibrant colorful tone. This painting is bright; colors are at full intensity and are arranged next to their complements, producing a visual relationship between shape and form. Forms are used to draw the viewer’s eye across the canvas where circular shapes, repeating throughout the work, are compensated by the pattern of diagonal lines of the background. The viewer observes the girl’s profile and full frontal image, looking into a mirror and noticing a different image of herself. In order to achieve this effect, Picasso uses a range of formal elements that highlight the

Through the situation of the protagonist and his lover, Toyotarō and Elise, Mori Ogai’s “Dancing Girl” addresses Japan’s uncertain
