For this week's enrich submission, I chose to do my research on Space Exploration: Apollo Missions. From my selected article, Space Exploration, I read that the motivation that led to this discovery was how people dreamed of spaceflight for millennia before it even became reality. There is evidence from as early as 2D of scientist and famous men telling of flying or having dreams of voyaging to the moon. That being said, space exploration has ALWAYS been a topic filled with curiosity. People have always wanted to know about space. One of the many questions people had and wondered was if the Earth was in the center of the solar system or not. And for several years, many believed this theory. It wasn't until 1,400 years later that that theory
In doing research on space exploration and specifically the Apollo Missions, I have learned a lot about the purpose and significance behind this exploration. The goals set by NASA for these missions was to “establish technology to meet other national interests in space, achieve preeminence in space for the United States and develop man's capability to work in the lunar environment”. The motivation to get a man to the moon (Apollo 11) had a lot to do with the Cold War with the Soviet Union. President John F. Kennedy gave a speech that was aimed to convince the people that it was time to advance and play our part in the world. Thousands of people worked on this project, but it was really a national effort. Several questions arose as each of the

Living in Tennessee we are very close to Huntsville, Alabama where the rockets were developed for the space program. There is a huge museum in Huntsville where there is a Saturn 5 rocket standing up, and in a building, next to it there is one disassembled laying on its side. These are both large man made vehicles that allowed men to go to the moon. In the museum, there is a space capsule that has return from space all burned and scorched from reentry of Apollo 16.
1. The purpose of the article Man Takes Fist Steps on the Moon by The Times is to announce to the audience the greatest moment of time, which is the moment when Neil Armstrong became the first man to take a walk on the moon’s surface. The interaction that the speaker, audience, and subject develop affects the text in a way that it accomplishes the purpose The Times had, and it also makes the text more interesting.
On July 20, 1969, humanity did itself proud in spite of all its wars, sadism, hatred, and insanity. We set foot on another planet. Men walked on the moon. This changed our belief in what we could accomplish.
On the Apollo 11 mission, Neil Armstrong said, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” He was the first astronaut to walk on the moon and this event was a significant point in history for space exploration. Now from the success of the Apollo 11 mission, astronauts will travel to Mars during the 2030’s and I want to take part in the excursion to the Red Planet. In the past couple of years, I have been obtaining knowledge about the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the exploration to Mars. Ever since I was younger, I enjoyed spending time at night stargazing with friends and family as well as watching Star Wars, Star Trek, and other science fiction movies. Over the years my fascination for outer space
“Slavery, Gold Rush, what's next?!” Mom, dad, and I have never known what freedom is. We have been sent from slavery to the Gold Rush, my family has never been treated well. When we were slaves we worked for nine whole years, then we got sent to were the miners worked... It’s November 27, 1861, and the cold weather has already been really bad for everyone, especially miners.
I chose to do the Apollo missions. The Apollo missions we all named the same but with different numbers. Like Apollo 7 or Apollo 16. But there was no real number. The missions to the moon weren't all the same. Some of the missions that went up to the moon were caring people on board and some of the missions were just to get a unmanned aircraft into space to mostly deliver supplies that they might need on the moon. The Apollo 8 was the one that landed successfully onto the moon. These missions wouldn’t have happened without a lot of people. A lot of people just look at the people that went into space and think “wow they did something really cool” but it also takes a lot of work coming from the people that are down below. The people that are
The popularity of and the fascination with Egyptian Art come from the pyramids, mummies, and hieroglyphs. The theme of the exhibition is about racial types in Ancient Egyptian Art it will survey the various naturalistic facial features found in the non-royal sculptures. In contrast, the Royal portraits are extremely symbolic in representing human figures with the combination of human gods and animal forms that tend to portray idealized, conventional faces of Egypt. Utilizing objects from the permanent collection at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, this exhibit will display 25 portraits of nobleman, officials, and local individuals in order to hint at a variety of racial subdivision such as the Hykos, Nubian, Persian and Roman influence in the
During the 1960s the superpowers of the world Russia and the US were in great tension during the space race. And the finish line was the moon. The race ended on July 20, 1969 when Apollo 11 landed on the moon and Neal Armstrong took the historical first steps on the moon. During the Apollo missions many questions were asked from is it even possible? To. Can man walk on the moon or is there not enough gravity so they would just float off in space? But through much research and great people. Some things I learned from my research was there were 2 other mission before the Apollo missions ever started. The mercury missions and the Gemini mission. The purpose of the mercury missions was to put a man in space and the purpose of Gemini was to test
“Nothing since Apollo has come close to the excitement that was generated by those astronauts: Armstrong, Aldrin, and the ten others who followed them”. (“Apollo”). Being launched on the fourteenth of July in the year 1969, Apollo 11 had created a whole new period of space exploration and technology, defeating the Soviets in the Space Race, and bringing the end of the Cold War closer and to our favor. The Apollo 11 Mission had taken a major part in forming what is now today’s science, technology, and society.
For my research activity, I chose the Apollo Missions. The NASA space program is a topic that has always been interesting to me, so I took the time to look a little deeper into some of the facts outside of the more famous near disaster that occurred on Apollo 13.
Those inspiring words of the first man on the moon sure have made their mark in history. Not only did Apollo 11, the first successful mission in landing man on the moon, affect future space discovery, it impacted the world, by helping people understand how much they can be capable. For those reasons , putting man on the moon was and still is a significant moment to this day for all people.
It is important for people to get vaccinated because by getting them you are preventing yourself from getting serious diseases, you also protect other people around you from getting sick and if you have to travel or like to travel its best that you’re vaccinated. Vaccines have saved billions of lives and prevented many diseases and sickness. They are safe medical products and can prevent suffering from these infectious diseases. BY getting vaccines you are preventing yourself from getting serious diseases like influenza, pertussis, and shingles. These illnesses are common and can be spreadable so it’s important to get vaccinated to protect yourself and other people as well. Vaccines can provide protection for a lifetime from these diseases.
July 16th, 1969. It’s a peaceful morning at Cape Canaveral with pleasant temperatures and little wind. All is calm. Suddenly, a tremendous roar shatters the morning as the crew of Apollo 11 blast off toward the moon, riding the biggest rocket ever created. Burning 20 tons of explosive fuel a second, it propels Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins into history. The spacecraft lands four days later on the moon. Millions watched as men took the first steps on a strange place 238,900 miles away, or 9 and ½ times around the earth. After placing America’s flag among the lunar rocks, the Apollo 11 crew lit their engines and headed for the small blue sphere we call home, splashing down safely in the ocean and completing Kennedy’s
