WH9 Kaulike Jansen Africa DBQ January 6, 2016 Before the Europeans arrived to the empires, kingdoms, and cities of Africa, the African civilization flourished in many achievements with Art, political status, trade, and culture. The Africa we know today is not like the Africa we knew before the Europeans arrived in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Africa traders have used their skills to trade with other lands. Beautiful cities were built with an advanced political structure like the city of Kilwa. They even maintained a thriving culture.
In District 9, there is no sign of the South African Poilce Service, but instead, the government hired MNU. For this purpose, MNU will be seen as the 'police' in this case. Police brutality is very evident in District 9. The MNU soldiers feel that they will have no consequences for their actions. During the eviction notices, one officer gets frightened by an alien, and proceeds to shoot the alien due to his own fear of getting harmed by one of these creatures. Another example of this, is in the MNU headquarters when Wikus get restrained and MNU decides to harvest his organs for money. This was inhumane and no human rights were considered when deciding to do this to Wikus. The MNU soldiers force Wikus into the hospital bed where they proceed

Africa, like many other continents, was a very tremendous and a very diverse civilization that is very complicated to introduce due to all its wonderful but also diverse features and beliefs. From the differences between its society and language to its religion and politics, Africa always had the reputation that its empires, cities, and kingdoms never progressed in the developments and achievements for their civilization. Many people believed that the Europeans were actually the cause of Africa’s achievements and advanced developments for their civilizations. However, this is further than the whole truth. Before the arrival of the Europeans between the 15th and 16th century, African kingdoms, empires, and cities had many achievements and accomplishments
History is subjective because it is a subject that is based on a person’s knowledge and opinions. While some events have obvious causes, other events must be analyzed to find their true impetus. One complicated era from history that has a debatable cause is Apartheid. While some historians cite complex causes for Apartheid, most people in the general public simply believe racism was the root of the institution. While racism did factor into later practices of Apartheid, racism was merely a byproduct of the social and cultural effects of the institution. When evidence is examined, the real cause of Apartheid becomes obvious. This era of South African history was not simply based on social practices such as racism; Apartheid was rooted
The movie invictus portrays a very controversial issue that has been presented throughout history in many ethnic groups and is seen in societies up to these days. The apartheid is clearly pictured in the movie through many of the attitudes and actions that people take towards the other race they live in their day by day. What is more, Mandela constitutes one of the most important figures in South Africa, especially for the black race as he liberated them from the apartheid. From those days Mandela has been recognized worldwide as a major symbol of the rainbow nation; a reality of distinction between the black and the white people and its establishing differe nces.
The rain pounds against the pavement, the periodic roar of thunder startles me and I am caught alone on an empty street that seems to go on forever. I’m shivering in the frigid, cool breeze. Mr. Reaper said he’d be awaiting me here. He says Miss Freyja, a goddess, is joining him today, and they will come in a chariot pulled by two giant cats. The cat’s names are Bygul and Trjegul, I am to treat them with the most respect. I’m just as excited as I am sad. You see my cat, who happens to be my best friend, died, and Mr. Reaper and Miss Freyja are about to determine her fate after death. I’ve also been waiting ages to meet Miss Freyja, I just wish I could have been under different circumstances. Grim Reaper talks about her often. I think he has a thing for her, you know. His eyes get all googly, and he non-stop smiles when her name is brought up.

Have you ever wondered how it would feel to be considered inferior because of your race? The people of South Africa had to endure racial inferiority during the era of apartheid. The apartheid laws the government of South Africa made led to an unequal lifestyle for the blacks and produced opposition.
Many of the contemporary issues in South Africa can easily be associated with the apartheid laws which devastated the country. The people of South Africa struggle day by day to reverse “the most cruel, yet well-crafted,” horrific tactic “of social engineering.” The concept behind apartheid emerged in 1948 when the nationalist party took over government, and the all-white government enforced “racial segregation under a system of legislation” . The central issues stem from 50 years of apartheid include poverty, income inequality, land ownership rates and many other long term affects that still plague the brunt of the South African population while the small white minority still enjoy much of the wealth, most of the land and opportunities
