When faced with a dangerous or life-threatening situation that needs law enforcement, it is not a problem to pick up the phone and dial 911. This number has been around far longer than recent generations, so it doesn't often come up in is not often given the glory for how much of a luxury it is. This system was created to ensure public safety and should not be taken lightly. This paper reviews the history and origin of 911 and discusses the basics of working a dispatcher.
Chapter 401 is broken down into three parts the emergency telecommunication systems, emergency medical services grants, and medical transportation services. The emergency telecommunication systems are intended to provide a system of regional emergency telecommunication that can effectively use radio channels to provide emergency medical service to the population. These telecommunications include voice, data, signaling transmissions, and receptions between the emergency service components. The emergency medical telecommunications system is coordinated and developed by the Department of Management Services. The second part is the emergency medical services grants. Intentions of this legislation are to provide all citizens with adequate emergency
The activation and staffing of physical and web based emergency operations centers (EOC), provides situational awareness and warnings that support ongoing hazard prevention and protection efforts during disasters. Additionally, it requires continuous coordination between multiple agencies. In order to ensure that the EOC is effective it must be able to incorporate survivability, security, sustainability, interoperability, and flexibility. In 2012, the Federal Emergency Agency (FEMA) established and activated its National Business Emergency Operations Center (NBEOC) twice, with the most recent disaster being Hurricane Sandy. Did the federal governments web based NBEOC demonstrate organizational excellence before, during, and after Sandy? To
Also an analog one-line back up phone should be placed on each desk for maintenance reasons or if for some reason the ACD (automatic all dialer) system goes off line agents can still accept calls. All call center agents will also use a laptop computer with dual monitors to all them to be flexible and have the ability to test wired and wireless issues a customer may have. Each agent will have a unique and secured user account. The only person who should be able to access an agent’s account is that agent. After the implementation of the call centers it is necessary to train the center managers on the systems that will be used in the call center. There will be a 3 day training class offered at a centralized location for the 3 call center managers and the assistant mangers.
There are several positive advancements that have been realized in fire emergency response over time. Benchmarking on the current status, the Houston Fire Department is likely to evolve in three key areas. First, technological advancement. At the moment, Project Ethan has brought a revolution in emergency response service. Project Ethan has been rolled out across the firehouses in the city. Project Ethan is a solution where people used video chats to communicate with medical doctors on emergencies and receive emergency care services. At the moment, referrals are made between 10am and 6pm on weekdays. From the trends seen with this product, many people are adopting this technology. As a matter of fact, there is a
The emergency operations plan will assign specific city agencies within the jurisdiction orders and responsibilities they must take on during an emergency. Each of their tasks will be clearly explained and will be assigned to that specific department or agency so they will have the capability to perform them accordingly. As well as the type of assistance will be needed from the state, North Carolina, surrounding countries, federal government, and private entities. The emergency operations plan will include and prepare the cities agencies and departments that will be needed in an emergency crisis. Homeland Security, law enforcement agencies, the fire department, emergency medical services agencies, and hospitals will be the main agencies and departments on scene, each
. My research indicates that for a lot of schools they follow the Standard Response Protocol. The Standard Response Protocol was created by the I Love U Guys Foundation. The I Love U Guys Foundation was started by Ellen and John-Michael Keyes who had “devoted their skills in design and packaging, and critical thought. Their twenty-five year professional careers proved essential building blocks for the Foundation.” The Standard Response protocol was made for “not on individual scenarios but on the response to any given situation.” It is not a computer based system, it's a protocol for administrators and staff to follow when in an emergency like an evacuation or a lockdown. On their website it is stated that “ (un)like the Incident Command System (ICS), SRP demands a specific vocabulary but also allows for great flexibility. The premise is simple - there are four specific actions that can be performed during an incident. When communicating these, the action is labeled with a "Term of Art" and is then followed by a "Directive." Execution of the action is performed by active participants, including students, staff, teachers and first responders.” My app will greatly help the Standard Response Protocol to help with the response time of an emergency, the time from the start of an emergency to an end will be smaller, and it will greatly help faculty with getting the
Another key development for this modern world is the new phone app designed for children. The “Help Me” app is designed specifically for children in unsafe situations. Pressing the app sounds an alarm and sends two text messages to pre-installed safety numbers. Included in the text is the GPS coordinates of the location the text is sent from. Considering 80% of all stranger abductions occurs within 500 meters of the child’s home, this app is a must have for all children. The “Help Me” app has already been successfully used for this
Today’s technology has enabled communication to various parts of the world a 24-hour service, which means that, in any emergency response circumstance, there will always be a continuous claim for information (Haddow & Haddow, 2013).
Counselor assisted the with a fire safety worksheet as described in “ phoning for an emergency”.
2a. WEA’s, or wireless emergency alerts, are the computing innovation that I chose to represent in my computational artifact. WEA’s are the alerts that appear on your phone like text messages when there is information that needs to be spread to the general public. They provide severe weather alerts, amber alerts, as well as presidential alerts. My computational artifact showcases the purpose of my innovation on the left, and the potential repercussions of implementing the innovation on the right side.
Stanley wasn’t always the way he is now, he wasn’t always a good person. Stanley yelnats was a strange and shy individual who was sent to camp greenlake to build a better character. He had a rough life and always had someone bullying him that’s why he became the way he is. Not only did he have to deal with being poor but his family was also cursed along time ago because of a mistake his grandfather made.
Communication, in regards to some kind of emergency, has been something that has been around since the day the earth was created. The cavemen communicated with one another about a danger by grunting or throwing rocks at each other to get the attention across, the dinosaurs made noises of distress when something wasn’t right, the cowboy era had guns to shoot in the air or a simple yell for help would suffice, and with the invention of the telephone and television the warnings of emergencies were on their way to what we have today through the internet, television, outside alarms, smart phones and aps. This paper will focus on a little history of the emergency management programs that have evolved over decades into where we are today, as well
The scope of this project is to develop a mobile app to help the common man to take safety and preventionery measures when an accident takes place. Accidents occur suddenly and unexpectedly. We cannot prevent the occurrence of accidents but we can create an app in favor of the victim. “Near Miss” is a mobile app which runs on all mobiles having a camera irrespective of the configuration.
During emergencies, the importance of our country’s communications systems becomes clear. These communications systems include the wire line and wireless telephone networks, broadcast and cable television, radio, Public Safety Land Mobile Radio, satellite systems and increasingly the Internet. For example, in an emergency, we may dial 911, call our family members to make sure they are safe, and turn on our televisions and radios to get breaking news and important updates (FCC, 2012).
