Choosing Social Work as a professional career choice was something that I had to really reflect on as a helping professional. Since, it did not just happen overnight, my first career choice was an Educator. I knew I wanted to be around children and educate them in any way I can because I have a love for children. But, shortly after choosing Social work as a minor and enrolling into introduction to social work, I changed my major indefinitely. Growing up in my younger years, I would work at my grandmother childcare center. She has owned her childcare center for over 35 years, and working there was one of the causes as to why I loved children and wanted to educate them. Nevertheless, my grandmother childcare center was designed to provide

Working in the social services field was always my dream. Whether working with children, family, adults, elderly etc. this career path is so broad it instills the hope of a career opportunity. My first year working in this field was in 2010 when I interned as an intake specialist in an outpatient drug treatment facility, while completing my bachelor’s degree in human services. Thereafter, I was able to branch off in various areas such as a case manager at a domestic violence shelter, housing specialist, substance abuse counselor and now a family services specialist.

Social workers deal with a wide variety of people from all walks of life. There are challenges that people in the social work field deal with that most people do not take in to consideration. Whatever job position social workers are in; they connect with a lot of difficult experiences and deal with a little bit of everything.
Social Work has been my primary career choice for years and no other path has caught my attention. I cannot remember a time in my life that becoming a social worker did not seem right. I feel like my whole life I have wanted to be a social worker and, as cliché as it may sound, each year this unexplained feeling has become stronger. More specifically, my personal interest in the social work field was solidified when I lived with my aunt.
A lot of people aren’t fans of social work for multiple reasons but personally I have always been interested in it. I think that being able to help people in a way that a lot of others can’t is very interesting and being able to have a wide range of places where you can work from hospitals, schools, and nursing homes to police departments or courts. Social work to me is very interesting because you never know who could walk through the door and what that person may need help with.
Starting from being a certified nursing assistant, to becoming a unit secretary for a hospital that specialize in wound care, I have always known that I wanted to help individuals in need. However, I noticed that I was not happy with helping individuals in medical need. It wasn’t until I decided to continue my education that I introduced to the world of social work. Going up with a single mother that suffered from drug abuse, my family depended on social services for a lot of assistance, from everything such as food stamps to family counseling. This life experience helped guide my thoughts on pursuing social work as a career. I know that I want to help individuals that are down on their luck, but I want to take it one step farther, by providing individual counseling to adults that may need more one on one time, than what is normally given from a social service agency. Counseling will also give me a chance to do what I love most and that is to talk and get to know the individuals that I am helping make like changing decisions. Working as a clinical social work has my interest because it does not put limits on what I can do or who I can help, and it will set me up for my future goal of becoming a licensed clinical social worker. Being my own boss and changing my community is my dream job, opportunity and goal. I am currently on my way with changing my community and living my dream, because I am currently working for a non-profit
When I started thinking about my future, becoming a Social worker was never in my plans. I knew that I always wanted to help people; I just never thought I could make a career out of it. When was younger, I spent time working at a nursing home serving them dinner. During my time working there, I was able to get to know the elderly patients and began to enjoy spending time with them, and just being someone, they could talk to. I also worked at a summer camp and an after-school program, which was the first jobs that sparked my interest in wanting to work with children. After working both of these jobs, I strongly felt that I wanted to become a teacher. My academic concentration during my first three years of college was Early Childhood Education,
There are many different areas associated with social work and that leads to many career options in the future. I have always been interested with working with children but over time I have acknowledged a passion for families and the community which led me to social work. Social work is my career choice because I want to help improve the quality of life and well-being for individuals,

The interest of pursuing social work developed when I was earning my undergraduate degree. I wanted to help others with a rewarding job that would allow me to empower others. Family has always encouraged me to gain a degree in a field that I would be passionate about and that would give me satisfaction. My friends have always thought that I would be an excellent social worker.
I chose social working as my career because many other people go through tough situations and have a difficult time talking to relatives or friends to help them through a tough situation. Many families and children don’t feel comfortable talking to just anyone about obstacles they have faced in their lives which is why
