Chapters 5 and 6 are great chapters as they really get into the heart of proper communication techniques in the world of business writing. I do think that it is missing a little bit of how to write professionally using social media, which in today’s world is how majority of us communicate.

If I was in charge of the company’s social media, I would address the issue of how the mass media covered the company’s unfortunate accident by issuing a press release conference. The press release conference will be able to assure the friends and families of those that were involved in the accident, that there were no life threatening injuries to their loved ones. The conference will address also the company’s standpoint of being top of the situation by taking care of all damages to the company and their employees. Making a statement to the press shows the media the company’s concern towards their employees are their top priority. Public communication is the key to establishing a trusting relationship with social media. When the company speaks directly to mass media about the incident, it spreads accurate, trustworthy information that will bring positive publicity towards the company. The landscape for communication has changed, and the line between personal and professional communications has been blurred. How will your employer manage the risks associated with the use of social media and at the same time, gain the benefits that this media form provides? While many employers were initially concerned that employees would use company time and equipment for socializing with friends, they are quickly learning that many social networks can also be used directly for work purposes.

Crisis communication is the most important aspect of external and internal organization communication. This type of communication ranges from image restoration campaigns to employee turnover. In the articles that I have analyzed, I discovered many examples of crisis communications and its importance. I will discuss the Bridgestone-Firestone Corporation's image restoration campaign and explain Benoit's theory of image restoration. Also, I will discuss how crisis communications fits into public relations models. Two examples for discussion will be how supervisors should convey bad-news to their employees, and group communication within employee turnover. My last example for this discussion will be Bill Clinton's image repair discourse.
