Determinants of health are many factors combined to affect the health of individuals and communities. Health Starts within the environment we live in, the kind of work we do, the schools we attend, our neighborhood and surrendering communities.
“HealthyPeople.gov” (2017), defines social determinants as conditions in which people are born, live, work and age. All of these factors affect our health. Physical determinants of health impact a wide range of health, functioning, and quality – of – life. It is also explained social and physical determinants of health are often results of decisions made at higher levels of society.

Living in a housing project is a social determinant of health. The public housing is not kept up to its potential living conditions. There have been 11 young people killed from disease because of poor access to health facilities, money and transportation options. Poor urban minority neighborhoods are unhealthy. These people have a tendency to not take good care of their health growing up causing lifelong health problems.
Neighborhood Fights against Toxic Emissions
Living around chemical plants is an example of a physical determinate. Living around these types of toxins can cause health problems for children and even our adults because they are stuck in these communities and have been since they were a child.
