I am currently employed by an insurance agency in the long term care industry. We provide home and community based services to Tennesseans who are elderly or disabled. The goal of my program is to provide services to people to assist them to remain in their homes, safely and cost effectively, as long as they possibly can. Because healthcare is ever-changing, it is important that my organization stays on top of current trends and utilizes all method to predict the long direction the company will need to take. The division that I currently work for is a great example of looking towards the future and not allowing the quarterly report to dictate what the company does. There is a new program for developmentally and intellectually delayed individuals that the Bureau of TNcare has theorized and gave to the MCO’s to implement. This program is designed to save the state of Tennessee money by allowing the insurance companies (MCO’s) to manage the care that these members are receiving. It is being modeled after the CHOICES program. Because it is just out of the development and recently into the implementation stage, the program is losing money for the organization, but in the future will hopefully be a very fruitful and beneficial program for the members and the …show more content…
According to Manning & Curtis (2012), continuous quality improvement is an essential ingredient in the quality movement (P. 167). My company takes quality very seriously. We do not make a physical product but we provide care for people who are in need. It is very important to ensure that we are doing this to the best of our ability and saving the state as much money as possible while providing the member what they need and
Tough Love In The Book Thief, a little girl named Liesel moves in with the Hubermann’s, a foster family who live in the fictional town of Molching, Germany. As soon as Liesel arrives she notices that Rosa’s face looks “like a creased- up cardboard and annoyed, as if she was merely tolerating all of it.” In the few days after she arrives Liesel says that “ it was the profanity that made an immediate impact.” The Hubermanns were always swearing at each other, and then the started to swear at her calling her a filthy pig when she would refuse to bathe.
In this essay I am outlining a case study based on a person receiving social care. I will be using relevant theory and will critically discuss the relationship among the service user, carers and family members, and relevant social care practitioners, within the context of working in partnership with service users. Amongst other matters, the discussion will cover issues arising from inequality in society and user involvement.
Another example of weapons in Beowulf references to arms and armor, very accurate to the Anglo-Saxons’ traditional shields and weapons. “Then Hrothgar's thane leaped onto his horse and, brandishing a spear, galloped down to the shore; there, he asked at once: 'Warriors! Who are you, in your coats of mail, who have steered your tall ship over the sea-lanes to these shores? .... Never have warriors, carrying their shields, come to this country in a more open manner. Nor were you assured of my leader's approval, my kinsmen's consent. I've never set eyes on a more noble man, a warrior in armour, than one among your band; he's no mere retainer, so ennobled by his weapons.’... The boar crest, brightly gleaming, stood over their helmets: superbly tempered, plated with glowing gold, it guarded the lives of those grim warriors. ... Their byrnies were gleaming, the strong links of shining chain-mail chinked together. When the sea-stained travelers had reached the hall itself in their fearsome armour, they placed their broad shields (worked so skillfully) against Heorot's wall. Then they sat on a bench; the brave men's armour sang. The seafarer's gear stood all together, a grey tipped forest of ash spears; that armed troop was well equipped with weapons. .... in common we all share sword, helmet, byrnie, the trappings of war.” (Levick, 1)
On Thursday I sat with a group of childs in the library reading him a story child f says that he feels sick and vomits over the carpet I remains calm and follows my settings policies and procedures by called another member of staff to taking the other children away from the area
Understanding the context of Ms. Gilchrist’s life has allows me to make better connections with her and to see her as a human being. Thus, creating a better relationship between Ms. Gilchrist and I. As her social worker I can also explore strengths that Ms. Gilchrist has as a way of engaging and obtaining better rapport. Finn (2016) emphasizes “that each of the content areas of traditional assessments can be areas for exploring strengths as well. He offers the ROPES (resources, options, possibilities, exceptions and solutions) model as one tool for bringing strengths to bear (Finn, 2016, 277). As her social worker I can guide Ms. Gilchrist into identifying strengths that will help her re-engage with her children, motivate her to continue progressing and to increase her self-esteem. By doing strength base assessment individuals are learning their strengths and are not confined to the past and can be successful in the present (Finn, 2016).
The profession I am going to base this essay on is Social Work. The standards that this line of work follows are set by the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC). Social workers have to follow these standards so they can provide the best possible care and enable the HCPC to see where improvements are needed to prevent serious issues from arising. Social workers have to follow a number of different acts as part of their job, these are learnt when they complete the initial training. It is compulsory for social workers to complete a certain amount of hours of training each year; this is to ensure they are kept up to date on all the standards and changed in procedures and also to make sure they can provide the best possible care to the
The social worker in this story had many different responsibilities and roles while working in the ER at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. His responsibilities include having to put the puzzle pieces together of who the victim is as they are being treated. This is often a taunting task because the staff is in a rush. The Social worker has to find clues like driver listens or anything else that will allow them to better understand who they are working with. Her responsibilities don't stop there. He was also responsible for working with the victims family to ensure that they were informed and comfortable.
Perhaps one of the most pressing issues faced by women in Many African countries today are the many barriers preventing them from having access to sexual health and family planning services. “The World Health Organization (WHO) defines family planning as “the ability of individuals and couples to anticipate and attain their desired number of children and the spacing and timing of their births. It is achieved through use of contraceptive methods and the treatment of involuntary infertility” (Tessema, Gizachew Assefa, 2). By examining the causes of what is preventing women in areas Africa from taking control of their sexual health, and the number of children they wish to have, possible solutions can be contrived. In Kenya for example, “20.9 percent
Two summers ago, my godfather called me to work for The Heart of St. Louis Adult Health Daycare because there’s someone who really needs me and I answered to him why? He stated to go see for myself. When I arrive at The Heart of St. Louis Adult Health Daycare, the director gave me a tour and I saw the deaf elder man was so confused. I was really upset that they couldn’t help him get what he needed due to his disability. This has really impacted me that no one wanted to help the deaf elder man so I decided to take over activities assistance and interpret position immediately, just for him to represent my deaf community that I can be the person who is willing to sacrificed my time and my work. The point is not all businesses/public services shouldn’t
I don’t believe that religion should play apart in services that are offered. I live in the “Bible Belt” where everything it seems is a sin. Churches provide most of the services that are offered in my community. Everything is “Bless your heart” or “I’m going to pray for you”.
Speaking with the residents and learning about your program really made a lasting impression on me and I am excited to be part of this community. I particularly was impressed by its dedication to remove barriers to care. I also believe looking after patients within the context of their communities whether its local or abroad will improve compliance rates and quality of care.

During my time at the agency this week, I saw many patients smiling. They were excited about Valentine’s Day coming up. I watched the patient’s family members bring them gifts. As I was sitting down talking to a few elderly women, the fire alarm started to go off. I observed many of the staff members remaining calm while advising the volunteers to stay calm as well. I noticed that the laundry room was on fire. Many of the elderly patients begun to cry and worry. I watched as the supervisors directed the volunteers what to do such as the plan to evacuate the building. I observed the procedures that the staff members did while trying to make sure everyone was alright.
I wanted to update you on my clients. The client I was going to see on 10/23 canceled due to being sick. We rescheduled for this Friday at 4:00. I called the new client. She said her local school district is conducting an evaluation, so she does not need an evaluation from UNCO right now. She said if the evaluation was not thorough she would like us to do an evaluation. I told her to let us know if she wants the evaluation in the future.
Screams like thunder, moans so loud like nothing I have previously heard, and grieving eyes looking for answers while no one is there to comfort them. Another family just lost.., and once again, I am standing there choking on my own words with not much to state; I have witnessed people still dying of manageable cases like dehydration and malnutrition in rural areas of Egypt. It is heartbreaking that humans, in the 21st century, still die due to lack of access to care, and limited amount of proficient Intensivists. Life can be unfair for humans all over the world.
