Most common types of injuries: First, there are three most common types of soccer injuries, which are ankle sprains, hamstring and muscle cramps. Ankle sprains are the most common injuries that occur in the sport. This injury occurs when the foot suddenly twists or rolls, which then forces the ankle joint to be out of its normal position. As a result, the ligaments around the ankle stretch or tear. The number of ligaments torn or disrupted determines the degree of the injury. The more ligaments affected, the worse the injury is.
