" Into The Wild", created by Jon Krakauer talked about how Chris McCandless was rash, " but wasn't a nutcase, he wasn't a sociopath, he wasn't an outcast." Chris wasn't none of those; he was something else. It was hard to detect what Chris really was, but truthfully he was precisley better than that. McCandless was honeslty a intelligent human being; graduated from Emory University in Atlanta with a 3.72 grade-point average. He distinguished himself to have a history and anthropolgy major.
A similar theme was developed between The Sniper and Ambush. The Sniper’s theme is Stay Focused, What has happened… Happened. Ambush’s theme is Don’t Dwell on the Past.
When he was drafted into the NBA by the Denver Nuggets, the players knew about his drug issue. Therefore, they tried to help him stay on a clean path to a drug free life. His teammates would all take turns staying with him and making sure he didn’t drink or do any drugs. He was clean for over a year, however, that was all erased after he was traded to the Boston Celtics because he relapsed again. While with The Boston Celtics, Chris used painkillers such as OxyContin, Vicodin, and Percocent. He was released by the Boston Celtics because of a season ending knee injury. After he recovered from that injury, Chris went to play in Europe and Asia. There he would have dealers send packages of painkillers, so he would always have his drugs. However, he was caught using drugs and sent back to America. A few months later, in the parking lot of a Dunkin’ Donuts, Chris was found unconscious and was charged with possession of heroin and driving under the influence with a revoked license. Soon Chris started to purchase and use crystal meth. While under the influence of crystal meth, Chris overdosed and crashed his car into a utility pole. The paramedics on site at the accident said he was dead for thirty seconds.
Chris was judged by many people who thought he was insane but really, he just had a troubled childhood. Chris and his father had many conflicts, mainly because his father lived a double life with another family and tried to hide it from Chris’s family. When Chris was a teenager and learned about his father’s past “[he] could not pardon the mistakes his father had made as a young man,
He started off by burning his money that he could've given away or gave to charity. Chris’s journal states "Chris piled together his paper arranging the money accordingly, from ones to fives to twenties and then put a match to it. One hundred and thirteen dollars was turned into ash and smoke." (Krakauer 29) As a human when I see or think of someone burning money it makes me sick to my stomach. The fact that he could've given his money to someone or gave it to charity makes me feel like he doesn’t care about anyone else but himself. Walt also claims that "Chris was very cocky and stubborn about certain things."(Krakauer 120) When a person or a human says things that are cocky and stubborn it makes them sound very narcissistic. Chris’s journal also claims "In the spring of 1989 Chris took his Datsun on other prolonged, extemporaneous road trip. When he abandoned his family and set off to certain death." (Krakauer 124) The fact that Chris left his life and his family to go on a journey that would just get him killed, shows me that he is a very narcissistic human
He really became fond of Chris over time, evidence to that, "He was the hardest worker I've ever seen", "if he started a job, he'd finish it", he also talked about how intelligent and smart Chris is, "He read a lot. Used a lot of big words. I think maybe part of what got him into trouble was that he did too much thinking", "he always had to know the absolute right answer before he could go on to the next thing.". Wayne was very much a father figure to Chris but really on an intellectual level rather than actually having an impact on Chris's course of
Heroically, Chris finds that the only way to free the black host from their white parasite and release them from the sunken place is by the flash of a camera. He uses his phone to unveil undercover racist just as phones have recently been used to do the same thing. Now,more than ever, when we look on social media, we are overwhelmed by the cruel acts of police brutality to the black community that are fueled by their outdated, racist mindsets. Due to this, we have furthered our fear and distrust for white policeman rather than our comfort and assurance. At the ending of the movie, once Chris has killed Rose’s chauvinist family, a police car arrives to him being surrounded by dead white bodies. Instinctively, I feared for Chris because I knew that a black man surrounded by dead white people, would surely end with him dying as well.
A major theme in Jack London’s classic book The Call of the Wild is that adaptability is essential for survival, which is what buck has to do to during most of the book. At the beginning of the book, Buck’s appearance changes, In the middle, his mental thinking changes, and At the end, his senses change so he can adapt to his new life in Alaska.
Chris was a very stubborn person who always wanted to feel self-sufficient, and his father Walt, was the kind of person who was constantly obligated to be superintended. Therefore, their incessant quarrel was inevitable. "I'm going to divorce them as my parents once and for all and never speak to either of those idiots again as long as I live.” (47) This is a part of a letter that Chris wrote to his sister, Carine McCandless, explaining to her how he was going to traumatize their parents and discard them from his life. Chris was always critical of his parents and their lifestyle, but that criticism turned to outright anger when Chris learned that his father had lived a double life with another family for a
and convince them that his death is on their hands. Not only did Chris complete what he was trying to
Jane Addams in most famously known for her making of the Hull House in Chicago. The Hull house was the first settlement house in Chicago and it provided services to underprivileged people. Jane Addams helped establish social welfare and social work through her contributions to Franklin’s New Deal. Addams did much more than that. Jane Addams was also an organizer for the labor unions, an early feminist who understood the importance of equality, an author, and a noble peace prize winner. Jane Addams saw that we as a nation had large problems when it came to poverty and unfairness. It was unseen to most Americans so she created social reforms and forced these issues to be more seen by the public eye. I will discuss how Adams became a social worker,

If his parents had a more normal and peaceful relationship, the outcomes would not have been so extreme. For example, having a stable family creates a healthier, more open and secure environment. Instead, Chris started to develop a distant relationship with his parents because of one of the choices the dad made, maintained two relationships. In addition, when a family relationship is in a chaotic stage, it will affect how the person treats other people. The person would be more distant, distrustful, self-sufficient, etc. That is, what Chris ended up to be when he decided to
