HI! Im Tony, and I love music. Ever since I was little I have been exposed to all different types and styles of music and I have always had a true passion for it. Ive played many instruments like Piano but the one that really stuck with me was percussion, specifically Snare Drum. So, since 6th grade, Percussion has been my instrument of choice and ive had the privelage of learning and performing at many levels in my drumming career! I was Drum Captain at my local high school, Lewisville High School, and even after highschool I continued to persue drumming. Therefore I have had the privalege of being able to perform with many percussion ensembles including The "Cutting Edge" Drumline which is The Drumline for the BIGGEST Haunted House in the World. The one and only Dallas Cowboys Drumline, the official drum group for the NFL's Dallas Cowboys (That was a fun gig) and Finally, "Vigilantes indoor Percussion" a Winter Drumline group …show more content…

Ever since I saw my first Drum Corps show it has been my Dream to spend a summer performing with such prestigous groups like that. I started off playing the synthesizer for the middle school jazz band and eventually progressed to the electric bassist by high school. I began performing as the only bass soloist in the region of 2-A bands that performed at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX.
As my high school years come to an end, I've realized something about myself. Since I stepped foot in this school as an up and coming freshman I've noticed that the drum major truly captured my attention. It was like when little kids see someone cool on tv and think, “When I grow up, I'll be exactly like them.” That's exactly how I felt, when I became a senior I wanted to be that person. Finally the time has come for me to show that I am capable of being the best drum major Orland has ever seen.
The achievements of the Edgewood drum line has lead my transition from childhood to adulthood in many ways. My director has shown me how to be not only a good percussionist, but also a good leader. From these leadership qualities, I was able to lead our drum line to success in 2016. The the indoor drum line finals at the MEPA finals in 2016 where the Edgewood Drumline was awarded first place for our performance. This accomplishment was many years in development after getting third and second place for 3 years in a row. This achievement meant a lot to me and my peers at Edgewood, as it is one of the most major endeavors that Edgewood's music department has accomplished.
In high school I was a part of the Northgate Marching Band Drumline. I auditioned my freshman year and was put on top bass. At the time the line was dominated by girls, so I felt very comfortable and made a lot of friends. During the winter season I auditioned for snare. In drumline, the snare drum is the most exposed drum, therefore it is reserved for the more advanced players. I was told to go home and work on some things, and so I did. I practiced for a few hours and the next day after practice I was told I was on snare. I marched snare from then on, freshman year all the way through my senior year. Although this was a main goal of mine, it was not my only goal in the drumline. In marching band we had roles called Section Leaders. A section
I worked hard and showed how much I wanted to be in charge of leading color guard and that's what I did. I would stay a little later to help pack up, did what I was always told and even did things to help without being asked. I would like to expand and improve my leadership skills and becoming Drum Major would be a great way to so. My skills that show my leadership abilities include: working well with others, highly motivated for the best, enthusiastic about what I’m doing and good communication skills. Last season, being one of two Flag Captains meant I had to work together with someone. We would talk out any ideas or conflicts either between us or something happening among the guard. Then we could work together on portraying our ideas or concerns to the guard and they could communicate back to us which is always
Hi, if you didn’t know I’m Morgan Fish. When Shave was talking about getting a new drum major this year I got excited because ever since my oldest sister, Alison, was in marching band I had always been fascinated by drum majors. I went to all of the football games so I could watch the field show. The field shows were and still are the most exciting part of the football game to me and now that I am actually a part of the show it is much more exciting. I absolutely love marching band.
Band has become my second home and my drum has become my heart. They have shown me that I am capable of more than I think. I’ve been able to discover more about myself being in percussion than I was while playing flute. My family is the people I go and spend 9 days out of the week

“Drum major is your band ready?” if you haven’t heard this you must not be in marching band, and you most definitely haven’t lived in the color of music. Music has brought color in my life like you wouldn’t believe! I finally realized this at state. Crowds roaring for their home band, band moms screaming their lungs out for their kids, it’s where everyone gets to participate no matter how good you are, and you finally find meaning through music. Yeah it’s pretty great, and I’ll share my wonderful experience with you.
When I first joined marching band after seventh grade, I missed the first summer practice to see a concert. At that time, I had no idea how much band would come to mean to me nor the unexpected amount of dedication needed. Before marching band, music was merely a casual thing, but it has transformed this old hobby into a greater priority. After just one season, this shift was noticeable. I certainly did not consider missing two days of a Disney World vacation to march at nationals when first reading the schedule. But this beloved sport worked its ways in a few short months. Through two marching seasons and a winter concert, band became one of the most prominent activities in my life.
If there are any other fundraisers for National Convention they will be posted to the chapter facebook and put into the newspaper. Thank you for supporting the students of Surprise Valley and helping them go on a once in a lifetime trip!
It is important to make it a habit to assume the correct sitting position every time you sit behind your drum kit. This reduces the chance of any form of injuries because your muscles will not overstrain but rather support your body as you play your instruments.
After my visit to Penn for the Penn vs Princeton football game, I dreamed to be on the field playing my saxophone. To intertwine my major and musical interest, I am interested in starting a community service club. This club will have students volunteer to teach underprivileged kids in West Philly. No child should be deprived of a musical education due to financial
I believe the greatest thing to ever happen to me was my snare drum, and I want to thank my teacher, Mr. Cantu for teaching me the correct techniques and teaching me how to practice. One thing that helps me in school was practicing because thanks to that I learned how to manage my time in studying. As a student in college I go back and I think about all the crazy times I had with my drum, and I enjoy thinking about them. But thanks to my parents who
I first joined the band in the fourth grade playing the drums. I played for about two weeks then I quit because I didn't like it, mostly because of the teacher. In the sixth grade we got a new music teacher and told me I look like a trumpet player, so I gave it a try. I was taking music lessons but after the first one my music teacher told me she had to leave because she
