The SmarterMeasure assessment is used by Jefferson College to assess whether or not a student is prepared to take an online course or a class where technology is readily used. The test analyzes five different areas of readiness: life factors, personal attributes, technical competency, technical knowledge, and reading recall. Within each area, sub areas are used to tell the student where their strengths and weaknesses are. A student is measured on a scale of one to four in each of the areas, with four being the highest. For example, a student scoring a four performs well with that skill, but a student scoring a one may want to seek improvement in that area before taking a college online course.

Across the United States, standardized testing is a popular method used to measure a student’s academic ability and their college admission. These exams have multiple-choice questions and sometimes a writing section, which the examiners must complete in a certain amount of time. Taking the Smarter Measure assessment allowed me to learn so many interesting things about myself, stuff I didn't even know. A fact that took me by surprise was the fact that i’m an aural learner, which means that I learn through listening. I always thought of myself as a visual learner, but being an aural learner makes sense since I have always correlated memories with music. One result that didn’t really surprise me was that I can read 307 words per minute, as a kid I have always loved to read. In elementary school, I used to read in a fifth grade level while being in third grade! Now when I read a book, I can finish it in either a day or two. My reading recall was at 70%, which to me, I think its bad. I need to improve on reading and remembering what I read, a way that helps me remember stuff better is if I read out loud a part of the passage that I think is important, which makes sense since I am an aural learner.
In the Fall 2016, HIT 101 course, one student received an A and two students received Bs The lowest score of all students in both midterm and final exams was 76 percent and the highest score was 95 percent.
The reliability of an assessment in a perfect situation should produce the same results if marked by another tutor or if that examiner unknowingly receives the same paper again. If different marks are given the assessment is consequently unreliable and proves that this assessment is subjective.
This report summarizes my findings after evaluating the curriculum of Natchez-Adams School District. I was granted access to the curriculum by Dr. Delarious Stewart, Curriculum Director for the Natchez-Adams School District. This report is designed to reflect how the curriculum is aligned with state and district standards. A curriculum is vital to promoting the success of all students because it is the content that is being taught in the school district. For this reason, the person or persons designing and developing the curriculum must understand the many different facets of an effective curriculum. I will present my findings in the following paragraphs.

Epic's assessment website started having technical issues during the second assessment. Because other test takers were also experiencing problems with the website, the ProctorU supervisor decided that he would stop the exam and contact Epic about these internal issues. I hope ProctorU informed your department about these issues. Not a problem, I will reschedule as soon as possible.
Pupils learning and progress needs to be measured against objectives using ongoing assessment methods. Formative assessment methods are ongoing, they are used to check progress continually during learning . These techniques include using open ended questions which encourage pupils to think for themselves and use their own ideas rather than being influenced too much or led by the adult. Observing pupils is a formative assessment method which allows us to gather lots of knowledge about how pupils are progressing. It reveals how they work, interact with others, preferences, strengths, weaknesses etc over a period of time. Observations can be informal and take place on an ongoing regular basis or can be formal direct observations. Listening to pupils describe their work and reasoning, to hear about pupils understanding
Through encouraging learners or athletes to act out a strategic activity or skill, the learner learns the drill in an informal manner. This also helps aid memory retention and muscle memory retention, especially for improving motor skills or conditioned behaviour.
I would first like to say that I’m not a good test taker and I don’t like the whole concept of it. I know this is an assessment and not a test but, judging someone’s learning capabilities on how well they score isn’t accurate and shouldn’t be that way. I’d say I did fairly well with the assessment. Given the name “Smarter Measure” could be offensive to some.
This self-assessment focuses on attendance, knowledge acquisition, and academic achievement. Since this class is based online the score would be based on online participation in Zoom sessions and completion of assignments. I have not missed a Zoom session and actively engage in the discussions presented. Also, all of the assignments due have been completed before the end of the due date. Therefore, according to the rubric I would be considered proficient in the category of attendance. The next category is knowledge acquisition; at which I would be considered competent in this area. I engage between two to four hours average a week on Blackboard and the Connect site. I try to complete the Learn Smarts at least twice a week to understand the material
The Smarter Balanced Assessments has similar attributes to Sternberg’s visions of assessment. Each one emphasizes and creating a safe learning environment and give students the opportunity to test their knowledge. Sternberg’s vision assessment focusses on creating wisdom and creativity. Sternberg’s vision allows students to be more resourceful rather than just having kids memorize a bunch of information and get tested on it. The Smarter Balanced Assessments focuses on students solving real world problems while testing their critical thinking skills. This would fit perfectly with the Common Core State Standards.
