Making sure students have self-esteem is critical when it comes to physical education. Many students tend not to like physical education, so as teachers it is our job to implement strategies that will help students build self-esteem, develop problem solving skills, tech cooperation and challenges in physical education. One strategy to accomplish these goals is to make small reachable goals. Students tend to “give up” when they cannot perform a skill, so implementing small reachable goals, students will feel successful which will ultimately give them the determination to do better in physical education. During one of my observations, I was able to see a prime example of a teacher implementing a small reachable goal to had every student participating. The objective of this lesson is for the big balloon to not hit the ground. Students would hit the balloon in the air and they would have to run under it before the balloon hit the ground. Many sports and skills require memory and problem-solving skills to be put together. According to the website Brain HQ, “The usage of physical exercise in conjunction with BrainHQ brain training increases your chances of increasing cognitive functions within parameters, including time of exercise and style of exercise” (BrainHQ, 2017). The brain needs exercise to function at its best. When the body gets exercise then the brain becomes happy which will contribute to making you a happy person. One way I would advocate health and physical education in my school would be to have a “Fitness Olympics”. As a Physical Education teacher of Year 9 and 10 students, it is important to take steps to achieve prolonged participation in sport. The experience that a student has in HPE is likely to determine whether that student continues to participate in sport both at school and once they graduate (Penney, 2006). I think that the kids need to learn how to stay fit. The kids get shortage of exercise during their school day. Therefor the students need to get physical movement during their day. Physical education provides the students with varieties of workouts for the kids. The students love to go to PE because they get to be with their friends and they get learning they need to get about their body. Being mobile is vital to these kids they like active and they would be more alert in class.
After reviewing the data about inadequate physical activity from the survey, I noticed that students are losing the lack of motivation to be physically active. Nationwide, 48.6% of all students had been physically active doing any kind of physical activity that increased their heart rate and made them breath hard some of the time for a total of at least 60 minutes per day on 5 or more days during the 7 days before the survey. Nationwide, students are more focusing on playing with technology rather than going to the park and playing. It is one of the major reasons why the majority of the nation is not physically active for 5 or more days. One suggestion would be to implement physical activity games. For example, Wii has designed games where anyone can participate in physical activity games like dancing and tennis. Currently, kids in high schools are becoming fatter, slower, less intelligent and less motivated than past generations. We know that many teenagers would rather be sitting in front of a television than be doing something physically active. Teenagers believe they do not have enough time, opportunity and freedom to engage in physical activities. I believe the first way we can solve this issue is by starting in the high schools themselves, as students are able to receive an adequate among of exercise as well as receive guidance from instructors. School is filled with many extracurricular activities, such as clubs, F.B.L.A, F.C.A, and of course, sports. There have been many remarks from people worldwide about the fact of sports should be banned from schools and just be about learning. Teachers and parents say sports are a distraction from the real reason student are at school, to learn. Other opinions, as well as mine, might disagree from the previous statement. Sports allow students to get in shape, be healthy, and interact with many other different people.
For instance, students in physical education need to learn how to work as a team, learn how to be leaders, and exercise at the same time. Let alone, the sport that would do give the students these skills and exercise is paintball. Why paintball would help students is because they will be on two teams and will have to cooperate to eliminate the other team and not run and gun as they think can do in video games. Alternatively, students will also exercise by having to run and climb to reach cover and not be shot. They will also have to pick a leader to help them make plans to either flank the enemies or how to set up a defense to defend.

There are many changes that can be done to implement different goals and developments. One can start by trying to humanize physical education. A truly humanistic approach to physical education embraces both formal programs and the physical activities that people typically engage in, and has a number of specific goals, all of which are under the objective of moving each individual toward social and emotional well-being. Once again there are four goals to try to humanize physical education, these go along with the other humanistic theoretical goals. The first goal involves elevating students’ self-perception of one’s physical ability to the point that self-esteem is improved, at least in relations to physical ability. A student’s physical ability is related to how they feel about themselves, which means a student that is actually winning or doing well is feeling better about themself, and if a student is not doing good then they would feel worse. The second goal is self-actualization in those dimensions which can be influenced by physical education experiences. In this goal a student is figuring out what they can do, and trying to actualize their own potential through physical education. It is really important to me to have strong core for what I believe about teaching physical education and health. I believe that the most important things is that the students is physically active and I also believe that the students should have at least one thing or activity that they interested in that they can do for the rest of their lives in order to ensure that love to be physically active has become part of their lifestyle. Therefore, I would like to have a variety of physical activities, sports and fitness method in my curriculum and I would like my students to develop their skills and increase their knowledge of different skills and activities because it can provide a fun and enjoyable of physical activity, as well as build psychomotor and cognitive. I will try to safely provide the students the enjoyment of physical activity, become more confident with their abilities, increase their knowledge of health related fitness, and help them to find things that they love to do to continuous to be physically active. Physical education should be a fun class, but fun does not have to mean chaos. I believe in a structure that will allow the students to have fun in a safe way. My lesson plans will be structured so that students are constantly engaged in physical activity. I feel that if I can keep students moving and learning, then the chances of misbehavior will decrease. In elementary school I feel that Instant Activities should be used to get students moving when they get into my class. High school is a little different. I feel that students at the secondary school level should be introduced physical fitness activities that will help keep them in shape later on in life.

Traditional team and competitive sports may promote healthy activity for selected youth. The opportunity to be active on a regular basis, as well as the enjoyment and competence gained from activity, may increase the chances that a physically active lifestyle will be adopted.”

They help students experience and build skills that may help them in their future, like interpersonal and time management skills. Education may kindle the light of knowledge, but sports help to maintain the proper physique. Sports are also an important means of entertainment and a use for energy after long hours of study.
