Anti-discrimination policies have been employed to combat discrimination in the workplace, however nothing has been done to analyse the policy. This paper explores the discriminatory practices of employers. In this paper I explain what employment discrimination means and how a business can violate an employee’ rights. Some of those rights that I explore are age discrimination, race and color discrimination, and discrimination based on sex, one’s gender. As I explain the two theories of disparate treatment and disparate impact, I support those with several case laws for further understanding of those laws. Knowing that these laws heavily affect business decisions, I propose a solution that many businesses are using and that some may need to start using. The proposed solutions seek to explain why it can alleviate the distrust and fear of the laws for businesses.
I currently work as a server, and recently had 2 jobs serving. I will not name the place for discretion, but one of those 2 jobs I was working with a lot of teenagers. I know I'm a teenager myself until next month, but the co-workers that were teenagers, were very unprofessional with the way they worked. My last day of work at that job I had already witnessed 2 fights between the employees over what they were saying about each other behind their backs. Even though I'm 19, I still am mature enough and have enough respect for my place of employment to know there is a time and a place for everything and at work is not an appropriate time for that.

I applied for a housekeeping job, when attending the interview the interviewer seemed disoriented and disconnected. After the interviewing she proceeded to explain her reason for denying my application. Although, meeting qualified and may possibly be a good fit for the job. I wasn’t of Mexican descent stating asking for a higher grade in pay other than minimum wage wasn’t possible when the Mexican will work for pennies. Another institutionalized racism occurred on my daughter’s job. There had been encounters against other employees, due to being illegal immigrants it continued. Prejudice and inequality have always existed, even in the workplace. Many laws and corporations have been recently created in order to maintain suitable environments in the workplace. For example, the Workplace Bullying institute enforces positive behavior and assists in lawsuits about discrimination and bullying in the workplace. Although many obstacles have been overcome in the workplace, both women and men continue to undergo discrimination. It is a different form of bullying, though, it is biased treatment because of sex and race. For instance, men are rarely given paternity leave; women continue to experience pay discrimination, and both genders continue to face racial discrimination in pay. Both genders should receive equal treatment regarding parenthood and payments.
