I believe that six hour work days should be ok for jobs but only if it is going to benifite the company. because you are not wanting to pay them for there time and they either be more six or get less done i belive it should depend on the job like part two saying more people were being sick you dont want to have to worry about always finding replacements you want to have a reliable list not constanty calling for people to come in to work because not every one is always free to come in then things and production wont be meeting standeerds causeing comanys to have problems and not be as successful and i think is should be a yes but only as a trial to see if it will help the copany if it works then not only do workers get out early but you get
Times have changed since 1914 and we are still having issuses when it comes to the work environment. Both articles have made strong arguments; on what would be the best solution and how it would benfit not only the workers but the employers as well. However I agree that six hour days would not work. Either the workers lose two hour wages everyday or the employers hire more wokers for the jobs that are not being done due to only having six hours. All of the employees that they are forced to hire would not get a quarter of their pay because they are not full time. The people that only work the six hours would not be able to get health plans the full time workers are entitled to. Not having health care is stressful; that is living with the worry
It is not recommend moving the employees from the current 24/48 schedule. The current schedule seems to balance the workload placed on the employees with the department’s functional needs. In terms of economic benefits, we find that the department would realize no major cost savings because of a schedule change.
Also workers must focus on there jobs to make money for there families not for fun or short hours a day its not helping bye taking peoples hours down. Everyone has to beable and willing to do there jobs if they cant do there 11 plus hours jobs find somone that will get in there and do there job the way it needs to been done. Only working six hour jobs its making a living for the family its just wasting time so no I dont think
I think that the United States could go to the six hour work day. People in the past have done it and it was a huge success. During the Industrial Revolution people had to work 11-12 hours each day with little pay. Later on in the 1900s, Henry Ford changed the work hours for his employees and they showed great amounts of success. Ford doubled their pay and they did the work 2 times faster and more efficiently.
Adolf Hitler was an Austrian man who fought in World War I (WWI) as a German soldier. After Germany's defeat, Hitler tried to illegally take over the government. He was promptly arrested, and was sentenced to five years in prison. He only served nine months. In that time, Hitler wrote a book titled "Mein Kampf", whch translates to "My Struggle". In "Mein Kampf", he speaks of his ideas for Germany's future, which he titled the "Final Solution". After his release, Hitler joined the Nazi party, and a few years later, he controlled it. He slowly gained power in the German government, and in 1933, he was appointed chancellor of Germany. He eventually removed the position of president in Germany (after the previous president's death), which left
A six hour shift would allow employees to intensely focus on their work and be able to have the endurance to complete the work. Instead of taking more breaks in between the long eight hour shift, workers will began to manage their time more effectively to be able to productively finish the work in fewer hours.
I feel that if you tell an employee that they are responsible for completing so many hours in a week that it would make it easier for instance if I say I need you to work 32 hours this week if you can’t work on Friday Saturday or on Sunday then that means you need to work those hours Monday thru Thursday. If I know you are unable to come into the office to work but I can have you remotely or sign in from home then this can benefit you because you don’t have to make the travel but I still can get you to do the work
The 4 day work week is not a new idea. It is one that has had its share of controversies over the years. Introduced in the 1970’s the idea of the 4 days work week has been making a comeback as of lately. There are several issues to look at here. One of the main statements in regards to it is that productivity will decrease because of fatigue. A 10 hour work day is too long. On the flipside, another of the main issues pointed out by proponents is that productivity will increase because you will have a workforce with higher morale. In this paper, we will discuss
I found your article selection very appropriate considering we will be graduating in nearly five months. In the past I have worked eight to nine hour shifts in a retail store, with the vast majority of that time being spent standing. I am interested to see what twelve hour shifts are like this next semester when I am in preceptorship.
Weight lifting does help you become a better athlete. Certain sports require less weight to lift. With that being said, most of the weightlifting programs I see are similar to a bodybuilder. Those athletes each have a weight in mind that they want to lift or weight limit. If you not a bodybuilder, it’s best not to train like them. While lifting weights you also strengthen connective tissues the ligaments and tendons that keep your body preforming well every day. Make your connective tissue stronger will help you continue to perform in peak condition and protect your body from injuries.Lifting weights also make you feel better about yourself. Along with different types of exercises helps build confidence
I think that the six hour work is a ok idea but i would prefer to work eight hours or more. Sure the six hours will give you more time off and could increase productivity, but it will decrease pay. The original eleven to twelve hours a day during the Industrial revolution was a bit much, it is great that the time was set back and the pay doubled. That was a great way to motivate the workers to do more as well as give them more energy. But dropping the hours to six a day will just start to make the employees lazy and work less on the job.
The Civil War came at the beginning of the end of the nineteenth century. With the end of it came new thoughts about American ideals and where they ought to be. Railroads began to sprout out of the ground, and workers unions began to form, beginning with the National Labor Union. The Unions also brought along the appeal of the eight hour work day, which allowed people to split up their 24-hour days into three equal parts: “‘Eight Hours for Work, Eight Hours for Rest, Eight Hours for What We Will’” While some more conservative people argued that this would bring unproductivity to the country, many believed that this was for the best; however, what would they do during those eight hours for “What We Will?” New York offered a wide selection of
For the children and adults working in factories, everyone could benefit from shorter work hours. Giving shorter work hours allows for children to have a long about of time in school being taught. For the coal workers, give occasional breaks, make the environment safer and possibly find other sources of energy in not so dangerous areas. In rural areas, to make up for the job decrease, create more jobs and provide more living spaces so not everyone is living in the
For example, if all employees are offered this four day schedule, the company could shut down for an extra day. This will save money on building services such as electricity. An extra day without employee wear and tear on the building can also help the building’s condition in the long run. Less hours equal less payout to employees. Since employees aren't working as much, companies don't have to give the employees their old wages (the wages received when on a five day work week). (Pinsker, Joe) This action however raises much dispute. The whole point of working it to get paid, and employees tend to not want lowered paid. An alternative solution that I have came up with is to pay based off what is accomplished, not by hours. Instead of getting paid a hourly rate, companies can pay their employees based off of what the employee did that day (week, month, etc.). Companies can also earn some of the extra time they've given to their employees back by offering less vacation days as part of the deal. These companies find that employees do not want to leave them, but they also find
These researchers found that 8 hour shifts use to be traditional for nurses in hospitals and other healthcare centers, but today longer shifts especially 12 hour shifts are common for nurses. The long shifts appear to be popular with nurses for many reasons. Working 3 days a week leave nurses with more off days for other non-work activities. This tends to lead to a better work life balance and more flexibility. Long work hour shifts are combined with overtime, “nurses are at risk for fatigue and burnout, which may compromise patient care” (Rogers, Hwang, Scott, Aiken and Dinges, 2004, p.2501). This study investigates the relationship between long shifts and nurse outcome on the one hand and patient outcomes on the other. The authors used secondary sources and direct sampling of nurses and patients. The secondary sources are multi state
