The definition of honor is high respect, privilege, regard with great respect, and fulfill. My definition of honor is someone with great power, someone you can look up to. Sir Francis Bacon invented scientific method. Sir Francis Bacon whase also now as lord Verulam and the Viscount St. Albans. Sir Francis Bacon whase non as many things he whase a English lawyer, philosopher and a champion of modern science. Sir Francis Bacon lived from 1561-1626 he lived for 65 years. From 1572-1598 he was a powerful man in England. He was twelve when he got into Trinity College. 1579 his dad passed away wall he was in France. 1582 he was get his degree in law. He says "I like not such grinning honor as Sir Walter hath: give me life, which if I can save, so; if not, honor comes unlocked for, and there's an end." (V, iii) Thus, honor is, as Falstaff says, nothing more than a word, for it expresses a concept, which can be conveniently twisted to support whatever side of any battle that one is on.
"What is honor?" That question is one of the central themes from Shakespeare 's Henry IV. Throughout the play Shakespeare provides many different views of honor, but never directly states what honor is. Which makes sense because honor is a rather abstract concept that seems to vary depending on who states their opinion. There are some universal ideas of honorable deeds but the word itself is rarely defined by individuals. Two of the characters within the play have very different ideas of honor and vary greatly in their desire for it. They are Hotspur and Falstaff, Hotspur appears to have a very clear idea of what honor is and he pursues honor with great fervor. However, Falstaff questions the very existence of honor and has little to no desire for it. The ideas of Falstaff and Hotspur about honor are vastly different.
Honor means the respect given to someone who is admired. My definition of honor would be similar but to me honor is given when that person earns it and then they become admired. Jack Horner has done many things in his life to deserve honor such as creating new ideas about the dinosaurs, and even helping create one of the best movie series ever!
The definition of the word honor is high respect for someone. My definition of honor is someone who did something very important and should be respected.
For example, say you are known for being very helpful to schools and the community, and then you are earned the title of an honorable person. Many people are known for showing honor. The soldiers in the army and military are much known for being honorable and role models to people because they fight to protect us. Having honor does not take much, you do not have to join the military or save the world. It’s what in the heart that counts for earning honor.
Sir Francis Drake, age, 55 passed away on January 27, 1596 at Portillo, Penama. Sir Francis Drake death was caused by dysentery which is a type of disease. Sir Francis Drake was a nobleman, trader, and explorer! He was the husband of Mary Newman for 12 years until she passed away in 1581. Two years later he then married Elizabeth Sydenham in 1585 for 11 years.
Honor is defined as esteem paid to worth and is associated with reverence, dignity, distinction, reputation, and a good sense of what is right, just, and true. The key part to honor is having respect for others and for yourself, the two must act together because without both one has nothing. In this regard, I uphold the characteristic of honor in the classroom, at home, and on the track. Running track has been a benefit to
Webster’s says that the word honor means, “Esteem due or paid to worth ; high estimation; respect; consideration; reverence.” To me honor means someone is being truthful, respectful, hardworking, and someone with high morals. I have chosen to write about Bill Nye a famous scientist, and to see if he is also an honorable one.
The definition of honor is a keen sense of ethical conduct. As George Bernard Shaw once said, “A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.” Similar to the quote honor is portrayed by Cyrano De Bergerac. In Cyrano de Bergerac, by Edmond Rostand, honor is a key element in the play which is shown through Cyrano’s deeds of honor, how it is based in society, and because Cyrano’s outstanding traits of honor outweigh other characters honor.
What exactly is honor? Honor is a sense of integrity and responsibility. Honor is doing what someone believes to be the right thing to do. To some people honor even means putting others before themselves, and doing what is best for everyone in the situation. In the story The Crucible by Arthur Miller, John Proctor was faced with a very challenging decision at the end.
Sir francis was a kid that loved to read right. in college he took law classes at grays inn. but his studies where interrupted for about 2 ½ years. his father was a lord keeper in england. he died in june 1592 people don't know how he died. his mother stayed at home and took care of all his kids.
A person of honor has dignity, high public esteem, and honesty. It is no surprise that Shakespeare doesn’t make the concept of honor simple, specifically in his play King Henry IV: Part One, the word becomes ambiguous. The value and interpretation of the theme changes with each character; some consider the framework as praiseworthy while others argue it is completely insignificant. The characters Hotspur, Falstaff, King Henry IV, and Prince Hal present their own understandings of honor which mirror their personalities and consciousness. In comparing and contrasting each of their translations, the character’s true being is better understood.
There are billions of people struggling every day to have enough to eat, and billions of tons of food being tossed in the garbage, food waste is gaining increasing awareness as a serious environmental and economic issue. Research shows that about 60 million metric tons of food is wasted a year in the United States, with an estimated value of $162 billion. About 32 million tons of it end up in landfills, at a cost of about $1.5 billion a year to local government this economic crisis is worldwide! My research estimates that a third of all the food produced in the world is never consumed, and the total cost of that food waste could be as high as $400 billion a year. The food discarded by retailers and consumers in the most developed countries would be more than enough to feed all of the world’s hungry people, but it is not just those countries that have problems with food waste, it is also an issue in African countries like South Africa. The problem is expected to grow worse as the world’s population increases, unless actions are taken to reduce the waste. Food waste is not only a social cost, but it contributes to growing environmental problems like global warming, experts say, with the production of food consuming vast quantities of water, fertilizer and land. The fuel that is burned to process, refrigerate and transport it also adds to the environmental cost. Most food waste is thrown away in landfills, where it decomposes and emits methane, a potent greenhouse gas.
As defined by the dictionary, honor is a high respect that is earned through deeds and reputation. But, what is honor, and how does one receive it? Honor is like many things that are hard to put into words. Along with that, honor can be totally different, depending on your perspective. In the play, A Few Good Men, there is a central theme based around honor, who is doing right and who is doing wrong.
