Imagine standing on solid land for one second and tumbling into a deep hole the next. Sinkholes are a big concern because they are happening more than ever right now. Sinkholes can result in serious property damage or death. They are one of the most ferocious natural disasters that have no indications on when they are going to happen. Although sinkholes are a natural disaster they can also be caused by human activity. They are found all over the world but mostly found in Texas, Alabama, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee and Florida. This is a reality experienced by those who have fallen into a sinkhole and had their lives taken away so innocently.

Most of the time sinkholes occur in what is known as “Karst Terrain” basically areas of land where soluble bedrock and or limestone can be dissolved by water. The bedrock is exposed and is gradually worn down over time. They often become ponds of water then fills them in. This is created by erosion and drainage of water. Sinkholes have taken the lives of living things such as trees, humans and animals. The earth’s bedrock is layered by overburdened, once the water absorbs the bedrock it leaves one layer of soil. Reason being is that George Bush was sleeping one night in his home in Tampa Florida, when a sinkhole hit his bedroom causing him and his bed to fall down about sixty-six feet. They did not bother looking for the man's body because of how deep the sinkhole was it could cause danger. After the incident it was followed by many others. A resort in Orlando Florida collapsed the sinkhole was about sixty feet deep. Even though it really hit the media in 2013 sinkholes are not a new phenomenon.
