There are millions of schools throughout the world. America holds about 132, 656 schools alone. Majority of the schools in U.S. are coeducational. There are over 540 single-sex schools throughout the U.S. since 2010. However, new up to date studies have shown that separating males and females in school has lead to better overall test scores and career opportunities. Boys and girls should be taught in separate schools to improve educational performance. Coeducational schools do not have the time to focus in on areas that the students may struggle with. Males have been found to be the dominant gender in coeducational schools, making them superior or powerful over the others. Females in coeducational schools feel that males dominate the classroom by receiving more recognition, allowance for misbehavior and encouragement. Girls also no longer have to worry about constantly doing everything they can to make themselves appear better looking for the males. Well, if you feel that you're not ok with that well, In school year 2004-05 122 public schools offered single sex classes and 34 public schools were single sex classes mandatory according to “Old Tactic Gets New Use: Public Schools Separate Boys and Girls.” Article. Close to 70% of kids in single sex classes raised their math and reading scores in “Old Tactic Gets New Use: Public Schools Separate Boys and Girls.” Article. Although this may seem bad and shouldn't happen it's really not. Kids in single sex classes will have more of a chance to succeed than students in non single sex class because of most kids have no problem with this in their school, less discipline, and most of all higher grades.

This can be achieved by attending public schools, private schools, or by doing homeschooling. The most popular school system is the public system where children from both genders attend. According to Christina Hoff Sommers in her article, “The Boys at the Back”, published on the internet February 2, 2013, we are seeing girls in these institutions outperforming boys at an increasing rate.
It is true, but single sex schools are failing due to the fact that more people choose to go to a co-ed school. Gender gap can be related to differences in the personalities of the students, the academic environment and the society’s views. Brooks makes it seem like males are a victim of gender discrimination in schools and that nowadays less males go into career fields that has more reading to do but it is not true. It is the student’s personal preferences and work ethics that lead to their success in life. Since more females are getting higher education and achieving degrees, more females are in the work force, therefore the rate of males hired in a certain career field goes down while the female rate goes up.
