The motion picture of Singin’ in the Rain by Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly was significant in 1952 when the footage was released into the world. In the film, it explores the idea of showing a romance between an actor and an actress, who at first thought movie production was sort of a laughingstock. Additionally, seeing some of the transitions between a silent picture to voice recording picture. Including how Hollywood assembles some of their movies in the paramount studio. Don was the one who did all the talking that night because Lina actually can’t pronounce certain words. So, she talks kind of funny. When Don was finish both him and Linda walked off stage and were congratulated by R.F. Simpson [ Millard Mitchell], Cosmo, and Roscoe Dexter [ Douglas Fowley] for doing a good job. Next all the actors went to R.F.’s house to celebrate their success on the production. Don and Linda had to ride in different cars because Linda had been reading a bunch of the fan magazine, which says that Don and Linda are going to get married because they do so well in the films that they both have created. But in really Don does not love Linda at all, in fact he hats her because she fools with him by saying certain things that Don has to process a little to make sure Lina is not telling any lie or nonsense from those magazines. As Don and Cosmo were heading out of the theater to Cosmo’s car to drive up to the after party, the two boys get going on the road for a little while then all of a sudden Cosmo’s car gets a flat. Soon after Cosmo’s car gets pulled over a rush of fans recognized Don and they started screaming and shouting at Don. In fact, they started to rip up his suit. Don realized that he had to get out of their fast, so he did a spontaneous move and jumped over a car, then a trolley, finally into Kathy’s car. At first Kathy
In Singing in the rain, sound is used to express emotions, setting the mood fitting with the scene and drawing the attention to a change in the movie industry. The movie is set in 1920`s Hollywood and shows how the film industry went from silent movies to “talkies”, a film about filmmaking, that uses both diegetic and non-diegetic sound to show this change. This is shown several times in the movie, example wise while Don talks about his life, non-diegetic Orchestrated music is played, that goes along with the dialogue, stating the old-school Hollywood—style. While diegetic sound is used in dialogue between the characters, music coming from instruments and the musical numbers. This shows a big change in the way they used to make movies, before
The films Singin’ in the Rain and La La Land are similar in many ways. Both movies can be placed in the musical genre. These movies could also be placed in the romantic comedy genre. Although these movies are similar in there genres and conventions of romance, they have almost polar opposite endings. The main couple in Singin’ in the Rain, Don Lockwood and Kathy Selden, share a typical happy ending. This typical happy ending of a romantic comedy consists of the two main characters falling in love and living their “happily ever after” life. In contrast to this perfect “happily ever after” ending, La La Land ends in a very different way. In the movie La La Land the main couple, Mia and Sebastian, do not end up together at the end of the movie. By using the two stills provided, domestic happiness in films can be discussed.

The film, Singing In The Rain, directed by Stanely Donen and Gene Kelly, uses many themes, camera angles, and overall simple techniques to engage its audience within the movie and yet still manage to symbolize plentiful acts. The movie mainly focuses on the new era of ‘talking pictures’ and how it affected Cosmo’s career and film, The Dueling Cavalier. Within the many scenes, I chose to focus upon the famous, “ Good Morning,” scene/melody.

The iconic number “Singin’ in the Rain”, introduces the scene with Don (Gene Kelly) giving Kathy a good night kiss, and then begins to sing about his joy of being in love. Which is why the song is carefree and has an upbeat sound, showcasing the songs vibrant and happy mood. The song is in a 4/4 time signature. The tempo of the song is moderato and allegro. The dynamics in this song first starts out quite soft and then it gradually gets louder and stays at that level. It eventually gets louder, mainly the instruments, at sudden points and goes back to a quieter sound. The dynamics goes through many changes from loud then soft then it ends on a soft point. Since the song is sung only by Don (Gene Kelly), the pitch of the song is at the alto.

Whiskey Lullaby is a song sung by Brad Paisley (ft. Alison Krauss) which narrates the story of a soldier coming back from war to find his wife in bed with another man. After this, the man drinks away his life trying to escape the pain until he commits suicide. Then the song continues to talk about how the woman follows down the same path after hearing about his death. In the end of the song they both get buried next to each other which symbolizes how they are finally together. The audience for this country song is those who have served or who have had family members serve. The unexpectedness of how life will figure itself out when the soldiers return. Also, how hard it is for families when their loved ones are out fighting, and they are

“Singin in the rain” by Jerzy Cichecki is my imagination of the final piece of the theme “Art and emotions”. Rain is normally used to demonstrate depression or horror. However, it can possibly use to demonstrate happiness by using bright colours, curved lines or the movement of the people in the rain. In this piece, Jerzy Cichecki has succeeded in using art elements to demonstrate its effect on emotions. The bold red of the dress with the possibly careful walking of the woman lighten the rain.
