Some significant changes were made by the director by altering the plot, varying with the themes of the book, and the characterization of characters. With these altercations made by the director, it helps the movie move at a faster pace than the book, leaving excess detail behind which result in deviation from the overall purpose of the chapter, character, plot, and theme. The exclusion of excess detail is what makes the movie better than the book.
