Similarities Between Judaism And Roman Catholicism

Religion is entwined with every aspect associated in modern society. Religion is defined as the human beings’ relation to that which they regard as holy, sacred, absolute, spiritual, divine, or worthy of especial reverence. Many religions believe in the same God but practice their religion very differently. Judaism and Roman Catholicism are two unique religions that have many similarities and differences, though they both are derived from the same idea of God.
There is a close, but often misleading relationship between Judaism and Roman Catholicism. The discrepancies are excessive, however, there are many similarities because Roman Catholicism emerged from Christianity, and Christianity emerged from Judaism. Though they may have their differences, both religions are rooted together and share the belief of the same God. “I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me” (Exodus 20:2, 3).

During this time, God made a covenant with Abraham and promised to make his descendants sacred people and provide them with a holy land (Genesis). “I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of you, and kings will come forth from you. I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you. I will give to you and to your descendants after you, the land of your sojourning’s, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God” (Genesis 17 6-8). From Abraham, the children of Israel were born; which were Jacob and Isaac, the other patriarchs of Israel. Jacob and Isaac practiced the Jewish religion all the way up to the time of Moses. “The Torah was given to Moses, and he continued with the Judaism religion”
