Similar Figures In Real World

Identical twins look so similar because identical twins have the same genetic makeup, meaning, the same DNA (same nitrogenous bases). This is because by they are fertilized by the same egg, making them identical.

My mural project of the Jr. Lifeguard logo, is an example of similarity because of the dilations of the pre-image I did on the logo. The original grid was one centimeter by one centimeter grid. The actual mural was one and one-half inch by one and one-half inch grid. The logo directly corresponds to each other in the pre-image and the image although enlarged.

According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary similarity is defined as a quality that makes one person or thing like another. ("Merriam-Webster") Many people tend to believe that diversification is what makes life interesting, this is true; however, humans are genetically inclined to remain with what they are familiar with. Humans are generally creatures of habit, they will continue going to the same coffee shop, order the exact same coffee, every single time they visit: the similar elements bring them comfort. Authors are no different than the average person: they will only write about what they are familiar with. In the Devil and Tom Walker and Rip Van Winkle, we see that the author Washington Irving uses similarities in setting, male protagonists, female antagonists, and mystic characters.

Similarities and differences are present between nearly anything. For instance, two books can be compared in regards to their themes. Likewise, multiple people can be contrasted in regards to their personality. Similarities and differences can be good and bad and they can also help one to clearly see which of the subjects that are being compared are better than the other. People can look alike, yet be very different. One of the best examples from literature of people who look almost alike, but are very different are Charles Darnay and Sydney Carton from “A Tale of Two Cities” by Charles Dickens. Although Sydney Carton looks nothing but a worthless person than Charles Darnay, as the book progresses, Carton seems to be changing.

The first similarity is in the social class.In document a you see that both triangles do look similar to each other.The samurai were in a high social class but not the best.The samurai is in between the peasants and the daimyo.To compare similary,the knights were also in the same position.Their position was between the lesser lord and artisans which is similar to the samurai.

The fact that we link things that are similar and treat them like a group is the Law of Similarity. We tend to group similar shapes together and often times, we try to attach some type of meaning to them. Grouping can happen both visually and auditory.
