Understanding the feeling of the character and the music that surrounds the production is important to what the spotting session members are trying to relay to the viewer. During silent films, the music and sound effects were the only way to understand the message, was it sad, happy, scary, or funny and these are created by different instruments. The some of the examples of these types of productions are Tom and Jerry, Lion King and Shrek 1. These examples have various types of Source music or pre-existing types of music in bedded into the production. Source music is music that is heard on the screen from different sources. Pre-existing source music is music that a spotting session that is already created by someone else that is used for the …show more content…
This series is pushed to children because they have many scenes where it hits the action and keeps the attention of the audience which is what is needed to keep the attention of a child to the screen. The different scenes in which Tom gets hit in the head the music needs to hit the action so that it creates laughter to the crowd and makes the audience want more. Without the music the cartoon would be difficult to understand and so the instrumental is important. As the cartoon begins in full orchestra and having many different types of instruments playing once it switches scenes it slowly works into a small ensemble which creates suspense of what will happen next. While Tom and Jerry was an animation it was created using traditional animation, which is, where every scene was drawn by hand. In addition, the cartoons Tom and Jerry were speechless and needed to have instruments play for how they spoke, which is called playing the psychological subtext, examples of that during the ‘Tee for Two’ episode was when Jerry whistled at Tom after he missed the ball to get his attention, the whistle was an instruments to show that Jerry was speaking to Tom. This clip brought back many memories from my past of watching Tom and Jerry and now after understanding the reason behind the music and it makes the …show more content…
Elton John and Hans Zimmer are the composers of this work of art the Lion King that was made in 1994. This work of art is intended for both children and adults, the production is exciting with dramatic parts, as well as funny parts to keep everyone entertained. Movie is based out of the wild in Kenya giving the producers the opportunity to find different types of music to fit the setting for the movie such as the ‘Circle of Life’ that had to have some cultural backgrounds to the music to give it the feeling that the setting was in Kenya. Another example of the music in ‘The Lion King’ was ‘I just can’t wait to be king’ was performed by Simba as he is the going to be King of the Jungle and that gives ethnical background of the setting. Geographical features help the setting of the where the film is taking place and during the score of ‘This Land’ where it plays in the background of all the different areas in Kenya tells the audience that it is majestic and holds life. A song that is an original source music for “The Lion King” is the song ‘Hakuna Matata’ this is the scene where Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa are in the jungle where they are being relaxed and they sing “It means no worries, for the rest of your days” not only does this add ethnical background to the movie where the phase comes from the country
Along with background music, sound effects play more of a role on the way we feel than many moviegoers think, and "although the function of sound effects is primarily atmospheric, they can also be precise sources of meaning in film" (Giannetti, 225). When the
Have you ever realized that The Lion King is actually based off a tragic play called Hamlet? The producer of The Lion King is Don Hahn who got his inspiration from Hamlet produced by David Barron. Hamlet, and The Lion King don’t seem similar at first, because The Lion King is an animated kids movie, and Hamlet is not. There are many similarities including the plot. Both of the characters have no father, and have felt trapped at some point.
Many things can contribute to the comedy of a movie, the cinematography, narrative and even the editing. However, Scott Pilgrim Vs the World shows us that there are many unique ways to use the different forms of sound to create lighthearted entertainment.. Diegetic, non-diegetic, sound bridges, and offscreen sounds are just a few examples of the forms of sound that can be used to create a specific genre or mood and get different reactions from both the audience and the characters involved. Most people do not notice how much detail goes into the sound design of a movie. Each and every sound we hear during a film has a purpose, rather it be just to fill in negative space or to make a scene more realistic or unrealistic, or even to add or change the mood of the characters and or the audience.
Tim Burton uses music and sound to give off the feeling of how the character feels. This sets the mood of a certain scenes. In Edward Scissorhands he uses ominous music to a create a feeling in the scene. For example, when Peg walked into the garden looking at it, the music in the background played as she continued to walk in. This draws the viewers in wondering what might happen to the character. In Corpse Bride, the director uses dramatic music. For instances, he used dramatic music in the background when Victor was running away from the corpse bride, Emily to emphasize Victor's fear. This creates how Victor fears seeing the corpse bride, Emily coming up the ground and

As told before Julie Taymour was the director for the original Broadway show. Taymour was pulling from centuries-old presentational styles from around the globe, her fusion of African rhythms, movements and masks with western popular music in the telling of this well-known Disney tale was very new to mainstream Broadway goers. It was an automatic hit. An Associate Director of Taymour’s, John Stefaniuk said “She has taken all of these aspects of storytelling from Arica, Asia, the Philippines and all these other parts of the world she has traveled upon, and she incorporated them in a new way.” Since The Lion King was already a popular movie it was important to make sure the musical was different in its own ways so it would succeed.
Almost everyone in the world is familiar with the infamous Disney movie The Lion King, but very few have gone into detail and analyzed the rhetoric within the film. Each scene is filled with a sense of pathos that tugs on the emotions of the audience and inevitably pushes them to one side over the other. It is interesting to see how the voices, color, and actions of each character have such an effect on their personalities which then has an effect on the audience and leaves them judging the morals of the characters. For people who grew up watching the original Disney movies, this is a great film to watch in depth and really figure out the meaning behind each scene.
Although “The Lion King” is filled with talking animals, their situations and characters is able to showcase the reality making this film to be

Shakespeare in the Savanna Although the traditional Shakespearian language of the movie Hamlet may be confusing, there are unmistakable relations to the Disney classic, The Lion King. This movie produced by Disney was supposed to be similar to Bambi but set in Africa. As the movie's creation progressed, many of the screenwriters noticed its distinct similarities to Hamlet. While the original inspiration for The Lion King was Bambi, it is now known as an adaptation of the classic play Hamlet suitable for children.
The Lion King is an example of a creative reenactment of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Through different characters, Disney told the story of the prince who lost a father murdered by his uncle. Although there are some twists that give the two some differences, almost all of the play and its themes are covered in the movie. The characters in both of these stories are
Also the song brings foward the idea that throughout the film the circle of life is going to continue. No matter what happens, Simba will be King and he will have a heir as his father and ancestors before him that guarantees their legacy as kings of the jungle and that
Unlike Tom and Jerry, the scores that occur during the “Lion King” are not playing through the entirety of the film it comes in goes in different forms. Although it does not have the score completely through the entire film it does hit the action in many of scenes in the “Lion King” like in “Tom and Jerry”; for instances, the fight scene between Scar and Simba, right before the fight there is brief silence meaning that something was about to happen then Scar hits the ashes into Simba’s face as he does that it hits the action with loud brass and then the intensity picks up as they start to fight. There was no psychological subtext throughout the Lion King unlike in Tom and Jerry because The Lion King was not a silent film so the characters spoke for themselves. These two productions are considered CAPS, which are “is a proprietary collection of software, scanning camera systems, servers, networked computer workstations, and custom desks developed by the Walt Disney Company, together with Pixar in the late-1980s” (Computer Animation Production System). Directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, The Lion King is one of those rare movies that actually makes people get goosebumps at the opening scene when they hear the song with vivid nature scenes the footage presented. It’s a Disney animated film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and nearly everyone knows that all Disney movies come with beautiful pieces of songs. Although the film itself is kind of vintage since it was released in 1994, the music from The Lion King far surpasses any other movies in Disney’s history. As a matter of fact, it should be categorized under the “animated epic musical film” since the music is so amazing that could even match another musical movie called The Sound of Music, but composes in a luxurious balance of nature and philosophy. In a nutshell, The Lion King manages to tell a great story with splendid music presented.
