Medical advancements are very important for extending the quality and quantity of life, however a strong moral compass is needed to make sure, in the name of science, ethical and moral science are not crossed. Brave New World, written by Aldous Huxley, and the movie Gattaca propose a technologically advanced society that challenges these ethical and moral views. Although Brave New World and Gattaca relate in the aspect of genetic discrimination, they differ in the limits and powers of technology and the effects of human spirit.

It seems to be as if cloning is the new topic society can not stop talking about. Some people do not know what it is or they confuse the difference between the different type of cloning. There are two types of cloning therapeutic and reproductive cloning and there is a big difference between the both. Reproductive cloning is cloning a whole new organism while therapeutic cloning focuses on cloning an organ such as a heart, a kidney, a liver, and so on. Cloning of a body part is extremely helpful and essential to the survival of the human race. Cloning body parts also known as therapeutic cloning is the key to live a longer happy life because this procedure creates vital organs that can help people from suffering, it prevents other diseases, and it is much safer than reproductive cloning.

There is also overpopulation. If cloning is widely done than that can lead to overpopulation of animals. If there is an overpopulation and animals that means that people may be driven from natural resources. Without natural resources we can't make more clones because all the other clones you made will be eating everything that the new clones are trying to make will need. if we clone humans then there is a great chance of those humans reproducing, then those children of the Clones will reproduce and there will be a larger population which will mean we will have to put laws on having children and on making clones. in conclusion clones are bad thing if we want to keep the Earth's resources and we don't want

Cloning is done when a cell is replicated by using asexual reproduction and turns out to be the exact same as the host. Most people believe that cloning is very harmful and weird, while some believe that cloning is good for the environment and, it helps the world become very successful. I believe that cloning is horrible because it causes large offspring syndrome, has a very high failure percentage, has unknown consequences, the economy is affected poorly, causes an abnormal population increase, makes a non-diverse population, clones are socially unaccepted, it destroys the value of life and family, it causes diseases to spread, it causes premature aging, provides security issues for people, and increases the abuse of cloning.

McKibben, Kurzweil, and Sagoff all agree that the new technology can save lives. McKibben states, “Somatic gene therapy is, in other words, much like medicine” (9). McKibben and Kurzweil have different views on what is acceptable when using this technology to help save lives. Somatic gene therapy and germline engineering are misused according to McKibben if they increase performance of the individual, while Kurzweil thinks anything is acceptable when it increases performance of the human species. Another thing that both Kurzweil and McKibben believe is that people will accept this new technology with open arms. McKibben gives the example that people inject Botox into their bodies to make themselves look and feel better, so he thinks that people will have no problem injecting nanobots and other forms of technology into their bodies. This new technology according to McKibben will rob us of meaning, he even states, “We look at the same world and see either silent landscape or pile of resources; either it has gone mute, or our hearing is nowhere near as sharp” (44). When he says this he is talking about the meaning of life. Our early ancestors looked at everything in nature as living, and everything had purpose, but now we look at all of nature’s beauties as resources. Technology is robbing our lives of meaning according to McKibben, while Kurzweil thinks the exact opposite.
