The heroes that make up our armed forces often suffer from terrible experiences in battle, some of which severely impact their mental and physical health, including suffering from post traumatic stress disorder or PSTD. Unfortunately, this has caused many of them to turn to drugs, whether prescription or illicit, to treat these problems. In fact, recent statistics estimate that one in 10 soldiers returning from Afghanistan and Iraq suffer from a substance abuse problem. Thankfully, health insurance programs such as Tri-Care exist to help these veterans get the drug rehabilitation help that they need. First of all, it limits them to centers that have undoubtedly already treated a lot of people from the military in the past. As a result, they will better understand the unique factors that contribute to their addictions. That focus means that people in the military suffering from addiction are more likely to get the highly specialized treatment that they need to recover from their addiction. For example, if they suffer from addiction to a pain medicine commonly used by the military, these centers will be better equipped to treat the problem. It also means that the centers will better understand the complex approval process that drives rehabilitation in the military. They will understand how to contact a regional contractor, what paperwork needs to be signed, and how to process everything in a quick and timely fashion.
