What schools without sports would come too. The students would not get scholarships that they very much need. There would be absolutely no school pride so there would be no pep rally’s do get everyone pumped up. The students that would play sports grades would drop because there is no motivation or drive to keep them up. If sports are cut from the schools there would be no school pride no chance of scholarships and kids would get really bad grade. No sports means they do not get the chance to get a full ride to collage. Some students depend on scholarships to get through collage because they do not have enough money to pay for it all. If the really smart kids cannot afford it then they cannot go and is a waste of good knowledge when they can play sports get it paid for and have a good life not working a Subway there whole entire life just trying to get by. If the young people of our town played sports they could get full rides from really good scholarships which can help them get very good jobs because they don’t have to pay for their …show more content…
We have a very talented group of students for are football, softball, baseball, band and basketball teams they have won a lot of games and it would be very dumb to cut the programs and ruin these students life’s. If school had no pride then there would be nothing to look forward to because they band could not play to get us pumped up also everyone that coaches and teaches these sports would be out of a job that they worked very hard for. There would be know one to cheer for on Friday night when there used to be Friday night football know one to cheer for in the spring, summer, or winter. Honestly Oakhill is made up by these teams and the sports shop would go out of business and everyone in town would be bored all the time are town is very supportive and would have nothing to do if we did not have sports. Everyone would hate school and would not want to
The impact of preserving sports in high schools has been surrounded by much controversy as people suspect that it is the reason behind the poor academic achievement of students. Opponents to high school sports feel that allowing athletics to be a part of schools sidetracks the focus of the student body, which goes completely against the main purpose of schools. Indeed, this assertion is completely true and based upon plentiful evidence. High school sports undoubtedly come at the expense of student academic achievement since they divert the attention of students away from academics and they come with far too many financial costs, both of which incur negative impacts on the academics within a school. The bottomline is that sports are harming the education of students, so a school must make the decision between composing quality sports teams or providing high level academics; both of these choices simply cannot occur simultaneously.
Students are the future of our world, as one generation fades away, the next one steps up and keeps the world turning. In our society, schools are the vital place where many children grow, learn, and adapt. High schools offer athletic programs that keep kids active and teach valuable lessons. While sports have their benefits, they often end up undermining academics and have a shockingly large cost. Schools should preserve athletics yet never prioritize it and sacrifice academics, and if sports negatively impact academics, cut them altogether.
Everyone knows academics are the main point of school, but athletics have begun to take over and draw away from that focus. Many individuals believe school sports are more important than ever; however, cost is excessive and players often think about upcoming games or matches, detracting attention from homework. Therefore, districts should eliminate after-school sports because they cost tremendous amounts of money, cause academic failure, and are a major distraction.
And just saying guys, college loves when students get in all these activities, this means that kids really pride in something that they love so much. But, if you take this away from them, then they won’t get into the college that they want to. Kids need to do sports to be healthy, have fun, and follow their dreams. Don’t say I am wrong because I know the pros and cons of playing a sport. Yes, sports are easy and hard, you can get hurt while playing it, but if you love it and dedicate for yourself and others then you should do it. No mayor and school board should take this away from you and others. They want us to have a good education than to do something we love to do. They want us to worry more about school work then to worry about what we have to do outside of school. Kids need the sports to know that they have a talent in something and know that it's something that they love to do. Kids need education in sport right? Yes, yes they do. Kids should be able to go to a college for any activity that they are interested with and know that they love. In conclusion, no mayor or school board should take away a sport knowing that is what you want to do in life and
The thought of eliminating sports from schools have become very popular in the last couple of years. Recent studies have shown that sports bring down children academically. Therefore, schools should eliminate sports to allow students more time to study, bring up kids grades, and improve financial issues. People who have gone through school know how important it is to study in order to familiarize themselves with the material taught. In “Should Your School Get Rid of Sports?”, Amanda Ripley states that a former quarterback that attends a school with no sports says, ¨there was all this extra time, you never go behind on your work¨ (11).
In most of the USA, schools would offer a variety of sports programs to their students in order for them to have a chance at becoming an athlete and competing against other schools. On the other hand, there are schools in various other countries that do not give their students any opportunities for school athletics. In a nourishing school environment, we all know that academics and in-class abilities count first when it comes to learning. In this world we live in people argue that after school sports might be the reason for poor academic performances and dropout rates in sports-featured schools.
It is Friday…game day. The entire school is buzzing with excitement. We all know that feeling (Pathos). Unfortunately, many schools are beginning to consider cutting funding for sports programs. As a student that has played sports my whole life, I know how detrimental this could be, not only to students, but also to education (Ethos). Sports get students involved and bring the community together. Playing sports teaches you many things that you may not learn otherwise. Public schools should fund sports programs.
If we get rid of sports then we can get rid of things like all of the parent pressure and injuries such as concussions. Replacing sports with academic clubs would solve all of these problems and we could further all of our students education even greater than
Students will not worry about about getting a low grade for their project or for their homework. Also teachers don't have to worry about their students not paying attention in class (10). If there were no sports after school, kids would pay more attention to their homework this is important because kids have to get good grades but they aren't paying attention to their homework and this is affecting their grades. This is important for schools to quit sports because it can lead students to not pay attention to their homework in can also have students stressed on they are going to do their
Amanda Ripley states that, “In the spring of 2012, Premont Independent School District threatened to take out all sports,” she goes on to say that, “sports are embedded in American schools in a way they are not almost anywhere” (10). Amanda Ripley states that, ever since Premont took out sports, “80% of students passed their classes, compared with 50% the previous fall” (Ripley 11). It shows that without school sports, students pass more classes. Clearly, without sports students pass more classes and are able to focus on school.
I do not like this idea about cutting sports from the school program. Our school has a big deal about sports. We live it to be honest, most of the kids are in football, baseball, and basketball. One big reason is cheerleaders will be cut out also, because they have nothing to cheer for. Another reason is our school will not be able to get sport scholarships for playing these sports because, we don’t have them at all to get the scholarships. The last reason is the school will be very less outgoing because there’s nothing to be hyped up about. That’s why I disagree with cutting these sports off.
To begin, the school board shouldn’t cut the athletic program because students benefit from sports in their future.According from researcher Kevin Kniffin, students that played school sports, tend to get better jobs with better pay rather than those who don’t.This means that when student athletes play sports, they gain lifetime benefits of becoming a successful person. Sports on a person’s resume makes it look as if they have lot of confidence in them which is what companies look for.Researcher Kevin Kniffin stated,"If a teenager plays sports, they tend to get paid better and get a better job even if they don't go pro.”It doesn’t matter if a student athlete doesn’t get a scholarship or doesn’t make it to the big leagues because they will most likely
With sports, districts could struggle to get students to their highest level of education. It is easy to see that with no athletic activities, schools can save money, time, and students could focus on their academics. Therefore, it is essential that schools dispose of sports so they can thrive in the long run of
Oh great. Another bad day at school. Good thing we have basketball practice, today, to ease my mind. This is how some people think about sports. However, some do not think the same. Therefore, middle schools are deciding on whether to keep sports the same way they have been or scale back some on sports. Principals and superintendents should not scale students back on sports because it helps them prosper in many ways.
Imagine you’re a teenager in a high school who is involved in athletics, and sports are the one thing you love doing the most. Now imagine that one day out of nowhere your sports team was cut, and the one thing that you so deeply loved you are no longer able to do. A lot of people wonder if sports are too much of a priority in schools, and whether or not they should be cut. Students disagree that sports are too much of a priority, and claim athletics make them the person that they are, and that they wouldn’t be the same without sports. School districts should not cut sport programs because they benefit students, they bring in money and publicity to the school, and it gives the students a fit and healthy lifestyle.
