For years and years, there have been many cases that police officers use unnecessary force on citizens. Citizens have reported the incidents, taken the incidents to court, and as well as people starting protests because of this. Instead of people feeling safe that the police is around people fear them. There has been a solution that involves police officers now having to be required wear body cameras. The use of body cameras on officers will reduce the use of force and will reduce dishonesty on incident reports; however, officers should not wear body cameras as it is an invasion of their privacy. To start off, police officers should be required to wear body cameras because it will reduce dishonesty on incident reports. For example, the footage of a body camera could reveal the misconduct of what actions the officer committed and officers would look foolish if they decided to file dishonest reports on the incident. This could solve many cases in the future by the use of body cameras and will reduce the amount of complaints by citizens based on what the decision was by the jury and judge. To illustrate, in the year 2014 in the state Missouri there was a shooting on an unarmed black teenager and which the case was taken to court; as a result, the jury did not indict the police officer. After the public heard about this, people started to protest across the United States demanding that every police officer needs to be equipped with a body camera.
