George should have killed Lennie because he hasn’t been able to save a lot of money because of Lennie, Lennie always gets in trouble, and he has killed Curley's wife. One reason why George isn’t able to save his money because he has to watch Lennie. George once said, “ If I was alone I could live so easy. I could get a job and work, and no trouble. No mess at all”. (Steinbeck 11). When Lennie wants rabbits, a ranch, chickens, dogs, cows, pigs, and more. He would be able to save money because Lennie wants to spend it and not work. George should have killed Lennie because he always gets in trouble. George gets in trouble with Curly, In Weed, and in Soledad. “Well, he seen this girl in a red dress. Dumb bastard like he is, he wants to touch everything
In the story Of Mice and Men, George killed Lennie. I think George should have killed Lennie. When Lennie was in the barn petting his puppy Curley’s wife came in and talked to him about soft things and let him touch her hair . When she thought he touched it enough she tugged her head back and Lennie grabbed onto her and shook her until her neck broke.
The title of the story is Of Mice and Men. The author of the story is John Steinbeck. Should George have killed Lennie. Yes, I do think that Lennie should have killed lennie because if not he would have been going around killing others and hurting others, Also if he wouldn’t have then they would be out of places to work because he would have been kicked out of everywhere. Also he shouldn’t have because Lennie’s Aunt Clara asked him to keep an eye on him. Yes, I do think that he should have killed him because if not then the other ranch hands would have and had him and it probably wouldn’t be that nice of a death.“If you find him then kill him or I’m going to and it’s not going to be good.” Steinbeck 103. This proves my point because if
George should not have killed Lennie because Lennie was mentally ill, it was murder, and George could have saved Lennie. George should not have killed Lennie because he is mentally ill. “And then from out of Lennie’s head there came a fat woman. She wore thick bull’s eye glasses and she wore a huge gingham apron with pockets, and she was starched and clean. She stood in front of Lennie and put her hands on her hips and she frowned disapprovingly at him” (Steinbeck 100-101).
Lennie had a long history of getting in trouble, getting fired and making George very mad. Also George would end up getting blamed for a lot of things and If he stuck with Lennie bad things would come into play. So if George still had to take care of Lennie after he killed Curley's wife then they would both probably end up getting tortured by Curly back at the farm. This is the second reason why George should have killed
Would you do anything for a loved one? Would you even go as far as to kill them? Well George Milton killed his closest friend Lennie at the end of John Steinbeck’s novella, Of Mice and Men. George never meant any harm to Lennie, George always cared for Lennie. George did this to protect Lennie from others who were trying to find and harm him. George did this out of love and not hate. Therefore, George killing Lennie was justified by the fact that his acts weren’t to harm Lennie. If George wouldn’t have killed Lennie, Lennie could have got much worse.
Consider the advantages and disadvantages of George’s actions. I personally feel like he did the right thing by killing Lennie himself because George knows that if Curley were to do it he would have made it slow, painful and terrifying. “ I’m goin’,” he said. “ I’m gonna shoot the guts outta that big bastard myself, even if I only got one hand. I’m gonna get ‘im.” (pg 98)
Although George did kill someone, he did it for many reasons; he killed his friend Lennie, he was the right person to do it, instead of Curley and his mob, George is an innocent man and Curley is to blame for the death of Lennie. George is a short-tempered person, but he's a very good friend towards Lennie: “ We travel together”-George, “Oh, so it's that way”- Curley, “Yea, it's that way”-George (80-82). He states that wherever he goes, Lennie goes as well. It's his job to care and love Lennie, he is the only one who truly understands Lennie. George also had a bit of a grudge against Lennie after the death of Curley's wife.
The first reason that George made the right decision to shoot Lennie is because Lennie would’ve been a danger to everyone else around him. If Lennie killed Curley’s wife, he could be capable
“I want you to stay with me, lennie. Jesus christ somebody’d shoot you for a coyote if you was by yourself. No, you stay with me. Your aunt clara wouldn’t like you running off by yourself even if she is dead” - (Steinbeck 13). This quote shows George looking out for Lennie.
In the book Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck I think George should not have killed Lennie because they were best friends, disability, and the murder was unintentional. A reason that George should not have killed Lennie is because they were best friends. A quote from the story that proves they are best friends is “tell me like you done before" a few lines later "about the rabbits" (Steinbeck 13). This proves that they are best friends because it implies that Lennie has heard the story multiple times. This means that he has heard it enough that he could remember it.
Imagine seeing the person your best friend go out and kill another human being. But, now you can't be on his side to back him up. You were obligated to make him pay for what he had done. For many, this may sound fictional or very unrealistic. But for George Milton this was the case. George has been taking care of Lennie for quite a long time, ever since Aunt Clara asked George too. Lennie has always been unintelligent and unaware of his surroundings. However, what lee now had done took his unintelligence to the extreme. Lennie had killed the wife of Curley. George and the guys at the ranch and had found out, and Curley was furious, he wanted revenge. George was obligated to pull the trigger. There is no doubt that George had done the right
Image if you had to kill your best friend would you? John Steinbeck in"Of Mice and Men" shows how important friendship is between two very different characters,How George killing Lennie is wrong, and Why George had no right to decide someone's fate. George was not justified in killing Lennie because George could have had left at anytime. The author is showing how important friendship is between two very different characters.
If you had the choice of doing what is in your best friend’s interest, would you consider it? What if the friend’s death was a factor? In the story of Mice and Men, George may have taken Lennie's life, but he made the decision for the better interest of his friend. He knew that Curley and his men would kill Lennie, he would suffer and/or be placed in jail. George made the justified decision of killing Lennie because it was the better choice of Lennie’s foreseen future. Therefore, George was morally justified for shooting Lennie for merciful reasons.
It has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt at this point, Lennie's innocence is not very accepted with the world because of his size, age, etc. He can’t really learn to change his ways due to his disabilities. Lennie can’t even understand why the bad things he has done are bad. Also, the fate he would meet at Curley's mutilated hands is enough to convince George that his only real option is to make Lennie's death as quick and painless as possible. Lennie would have died at the hands of Curly anyways, which would have been a much more painful and dehumanizing death for Lennie. He couldn't be taken to a mental hospital and in the depression, these were basically non-existent and spending a life in jail would be even more torture for a mentally ill person than death itself. George did what was right because he prevented Lennie from doing anything this terrible again, he stopped Lennie from a more painful death, and he really didn't have any other responsible
George promises Lennie many things once they get their own farm, “’O.K. Someday- we’re gonna get the jack together… ‘Specially if you remember as good as that.’”(15-16). So George killing Lennie was for his own benefit and it was a very immoral thing to do.
