Should Boys and Girls be in Separate Classes? Separate classes? No, no. Children shouldn’t have separate classes for many reasons. A few of those reasons are because of the different thinking patterns, working together in the workforce, and because separate classes can lead to gender-extremes. Boys and girls have different set thinking patterns. By studying together in the same classroom, they allow themselves to learn from each other’s thinking skills and points of view. Boys usually think with the left side of the brain, which is the logical side and they use knowledge and information that is accurate and certain. Girls usually use the right side of the brain, which is the creative side, it controls artistic senses and emotions. Although
If I were to ask you what class in the United States you were, would you want to, or be able to answer that? This is a very relevant topic put forth by Gregory Montsios in his work, Class in America. Montsios argues that the United States should either recognize class, or recognize that class is not relevant to the betterment of our great nation. He continues this argument by putting forth several myths and explanations for the way that class is seen in America. After this, he talks about different realities that are put before us, and how it affects our nation. I believe that in America today, class is not important, but can be skewed to make it to where some people have to follow different rules for different reasons, so I think class shouldn’t be recognized due to this.
Differences in brain structure between males and females result in important differences in perceptions, emotional expressions, priorities and behaviors. (*) Relationship traits, problem solving approaches, mathematical abilities, reactions to stress, language, emotions, brain size, pain perception, spatial ability and susceptibility to disorders are just some areas in which men and women react differently because of their differences in brain structure. (*) To some scientists and theorists these many influential biological differences between men and women make gender roles inevitable. (*)
In the book the male brain, the author makes a point that there are many differences between boys and girls ; its all about the brain and hormones that makes the differences. "Hormones can determine what the brain is interested in doing. Their purpose is to help guide social, sexual, mating, parenting, protective and aggressive behaviors (Brizendine)" . Men were born to be different than girls ; ever since a boy is born without the influence and pressure by surrounding, boys can act different than girls naturally. The author of The Make Brain has developed nine topic regarding to the male brain. The nine topic consist of The Boy Brain, The Teen Boy Brain, The Mating Brain, The Brain below the belt, The Daddy Brain,
The first essay I picked is “Computer Vision Syndrome Affects Millions” by Jane E. Brody. In this essay, Brody introduces a disease called “computer vision syndrome” that people who spend three or more hours a day in front of computer monitors may suffer. He states “Studies have indicated 70 percent to 90 percent of people who use computers extensively, whether for work or play, have one or more symptoms of computer vision syndrome. The effects of prolonged computer use are not just vision-related. Complaints include neurological symptoms like chronic headaches and musculoskeletal problems like neck and back pain”. Similar to Carr’s perspective, Brody believes advanced technology brings negative effects on people, but his essay focuses more
In ancient Athens, women had a set jobs inside the home and men were completely dominant. Fathers and future husbands arranged marriages strategically so that the husband would benefit in some way, whether it be through the property, money, or other means of payment . Women did not financially benefit from this agreement, and the dowry transferred from father to son-in-law was the only way women indirectly inherited money . In fact, daughters created a sort of economic risk for the sons, because the more money needed for dowries, the less money would be inherited by the sons . After the agreement was made, there was an elaborate wedding and in the process, the young woman passed from under the control of one man, her father, to the next, her
Rivers, Caryl, and Rosalind Barnett. "The Truth About Girls and Boys." (2013). Print. analyses of women, men, and society. They tackle a new, troubling trends in the idea of gender: learning styles, brain development, motivation, and "natural" inclinations of girls and boys being so different.
According to Jean Anyon, schools in different social classes get different educations and get treated differently at school. How the children are taught will affect how they do in the future. The children who are in school now will be our leaders in the future, so we need to invest in our students. The Working Class students are taught that the process and following the rules is most important, not the answer. If we have government representatives, military leaders, and possibly presidents focusing on following the rules we will not be able to better our country. Children should be taught that they are valued and that their opinions matter, so that later in life they can continue to have confidence in their own ideas. Gaining this confidence starts in school. Anyon studied how the students are treated and taught at schools who are teaching to only one kind of social class. I believe that, most schools are a mix of at least two different social classes. In general, Affluent Professional and Executive Elite schools have students learn from thinking for themselves. On the other hand, Working Class and Middle Class students learn by the teacher thinking for the them. Most schools are a mix of these different teaching styles.
If boys and girls learned in separate classes growing up at school it could cause many problems later on in their lives. For example, if boys and girls were in separate classes all throughout elementary,
Widely known as one of the best American authors of all time, Harper Lee managed to make herself a household name with only one novel. To Kill a Mockingbird, Lee’s recordbreaking novel, won many different awards, such as The Presidential Medal of Freedom, The Pulitzer Prize, and Best Fiction, not to mention the translation into nearly 50 different languages worldwide. It also spurned a play version, and a move (both of which managed to win many more awards) (“Harper Lee”). One of the major reasons her book was so successful is that she wrote from personal experience, to the point where the book could be considered a fictional biography. This caused the main character and narrator, Scout Finch, among many other characters, to seem so real and
I believe that boys and girls should not be in separate classes. When children are young the boys and girls do not always get along and it would be nice to them to be separated. I think it is part of growing up to have boys and girls in the same class and you learn to work with people you may not always like. If boys and girls were separated through their whole life, what would happen when they go to college? It would be a huge jump socially and academically. It would be to many changes at one time. I feel that it is also good to have both genders in the class to dip your feet into the dating pool. If you begin dating when you start working or start college it could be a while before you find what you are looking for. When you start dating
Co-education originated in the 19th century in english speaking regions of North America. Co-education was originally was practiced in New England, this region had the best developed schools. After the American Revolution there was a rise in the interest of female education. The first coed school was the Oberlin Collegiate Institute in Oberlin, Ohio. The debate of co-education came back during the 20th century after the rise of high school students. Schools should be coed instead of single sex.
Studies have also been carried out into whether or not there are differences between male and female brain size and whether this affects how we relate to each other in terms of gender. Simon Baron-Cohen believes that male brains are wired towards systematic understanding and females are wired towards empathy. In addition he says that this is not necessarily always the case but the majority are wired in this way: “Both sexes have their strengths and weaknesses. Neither sex is superior overall.” (Baron-Cohen, S. 2003).
Knowing the differences in the brain begins to give some understanding on how and why females and males learn differently. There are many basic differences in learning. Like stated previously females are better at verbal skills which makes them better at reading and writing and causes them to use words as they learn, and males are better
In today’s society, education has become a very important factor in a student 's life. Everyone tries to do and implement whatever is best for the student to learn and become successful. Therefore, as a result, society tries to separate schools based on gender. Schools should be separated by gender for many reasons. The first reason is that gender separation will help eliminate bullying. It has been demonstrated that boys, in general, tend to be more rude and violent than girls causing the boys to “bully” girls. Another reason they should be separated is to help break down stereotypes. An example of this is that girls are free of the pressure to compete with boys in male dominated subjects such as math and science. Another reason they should be separated is that it makes it easier on the teacher to use different learning techniques that are geared toward specific genders. It is a great idea to separate students by gender at schools if they want the students to have a better education. This will help prevent bullying at schools, help breakdown stereotypes, and encourage teachers to use different educational techniques.
According to Science the Brain of a Male & Female is dissimilar. A Women have four times the number of brain cells connecting the right and left side of the brain while men have connections running front and back of same side of brain. Males tend to use left brain more to solve one problem one step at a time. Women focus on more than one problem at time and prefer to solve problems through multiple activities at a time using both the brains.
