The case of Marlene Bird was a brutal attack and sexual assault by a Leslie Black in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan (The Canadian Press, August 2017). In July of 2014, a homeless Marlene Bird was attacked, assaulted, and set on fire in downtown Prince Albert, Sask.; although she survived the attack, later in hospital doctors had to amputate both her legs (McCue, 2017). According to James (2015) After months of recovery and numerous surgeries, Marlene came out alive but missing both her legs and the vision in her left eye. In April of 2015, Leslie black pleaded guilty to the attempted murder and aggravated sexual assault of Marlene when he was identified at the scene (James, 2015).
Writing, as described by E.L. Doctorow, is an exploration. In her novel, Bird by Bird, Anne Lamott explores the writing process, providing her insight on stylistic, theoretical, and instructional points. These points are essential in the composure of a book and are prevalent in many literary works such as Tim O’Brien’s The Things they Carried. In his book, O’Brien relives his time on the frontlines of the Vietnam War, telling fictional stories of life before, during, and post war. The novels are tied together with O’Brien’s use of character development, dialogue, and design setting strategies as discussed in Bird by Bird.
In this book there was multiple examples of technology like how we have computers they had newspappers that told all there news they did not have phones or tv’s. The culture or the town were she grow up in she lived in a village. She was fourteen and married Harriey she had a arranged marrige, and her family had to pay mooney for her to get married to Harriey. In Elia Kazan’s movie On the Waterfront, we see that pigeons and hawks are used to symbolize different characters in the movie. Pigeons are used to represent characters that are weaker and more susceptible to the mob. On the other hand, hawks are used to represent characters that are more powerful and influential to others. Certain individual in the movie begin as either a pigeon or hawk and mutate into the other by the end. Timothy Dugan is an example of someone that remains a pigeon while Terry is one that begins as a pigeon and morphs into a hawk by the end of the film.

Nature is a powerful yet underestimated force. Humans depend on the weather to see if they need to dress warm or dress lightly. What if they weather for today dramatically changed so much that you were so unprepared, there would be a chance of death? In “The Birds,” Daphne Du Maurier uses imagery and foreshadowing to present the idea that people are helpless in the face of nature.
In “There Are Birds Here” by Jamaal May, the speaker, a local from Detroit, defends the city by accepting the fact that there are many negative aspects of Detroit but tries to see the beauty of it. This tells us how there is always hope in something that seems to be falling apart. Jamaal May proves this point by acknowledging everything negative about Detroit. He mentions children a lot throughout and how they live. He says, “I mean the confetti a boy can’t stop smiling about and no his smile isn’t much like a skeleton at all.

Cold Little Bird, a short story by Ben Marcus, is about an intelligent young boy whose parents struggle coping with his emotional detachment. Throughout the story, the boy’s father, Martin, has the reader questioning whether or not there actually is a problem with Jonah or whether he is over-reacting. Through various scenes in the story one may conclude that it is combination of both.

It was apparent by his demeanor he was having a good time. Relaxed spinning around the room in a chair while everyone else made sure everything was running smoothly. She didn’t bother talking to him, she could tell he wasn’t listening to what she was saying, she was sure even if he didn’t have music blasting from the speaker he would still act like he didn’t hear her. The short story was well written and the film was well played, both are very similar. Although, they have a few differences the film and short story have the same mood and theme. Would the differences in the film and the short story affect the suspenseful and frightening plot?Alfred Hitchcock did an outstanding job filming the movie matching it with the short story. In both the short story and film flocks and flocks of gulls, robins, and sparrows join each other.
One night a young girl named Lily Foster is left alone for the night in her very large country house, while her parents drove out of town for a party.
