Kenli Cox is one of my best friends and lately she has been acting different. Something that is emotionally wrong with her and she avoiding all our friends, her grades are majorly dropping, and getting very tired all the time. Shes not wanting to just do anything like she did. One day after school i finally asked Kenli what was wrong and what had been happening. She said nothing at first but I kept pushing it to get it out of her. She finally sat me town and talked to me on how she doesn't feel the same anymore. She feels out of place and like she doesn't belong. I tried to help her and tell her that she does belong and how all of us love her. She is one of the closest friends I've ever had. Over the next few weeks/months I
my ASU’s and stood in front of Drill Sergeant Himes for the last time. He handed me the
Each of us have done a thing or two that churn our stomachs to even slightly remember them. The time you split your pants. The time you fell down while walking at graduation. While each of these instances are absolutely horrid, they shape who one becomes over time. The short story, “Eleven” by Sandra Cisneros, follows an eleven year old girl named Rachel who has to cope with one of life’s sucker punches on what would have be a wonderful day; her birthday. The terrifying incident involving a disgusting red sweater that Rachel describes as “raggedy”, “old”, and smelling of “cottage cheese”. The emotions that these events evoke in Rachel, coupled with various literary techniques and choices such as stream of consciousness style writing, decisions
In the short story, “Eleven”, by Sandra Cisneros, the main character, Rachel, feels upset with both the teacher and her fellow students because she feels mistreated, she feels made fun of, and she openly weeps in front of the entire class. Rachel, throughout the story, feels mistreated because the teacher, Ms. Price, will not accept the fact that the red sweatshirt does not belong to Rachel. It can be inferred that other classmates also show this kind of behavior to Rachel, even though it is not directly stated in the story. On multiple occasions, the teacher, along with other pupils, repeatedly say that the sweater belongs to Rachel. For example, the teacher states to Rachel that, “You put that sweater on right now and no more nonsense.” A
Basically best friends. We would Facetime and message each other every day. Time flies by and it’s 8th grade. Everyone had already formed their cliques. Hannah and I weren’t in the same clique, and didn’t sit at the same table. Hannah wasn’t very popular and hung out with the “lame people.” I encouraged Hannah to sit with me. My friends were absolutely rude and mean about it at first, but then they got to know her and she felt like she belonged. I felt overjoyed for her. One day, something terrible had happened in math class. These two kids named Joey and Peter who were popular jocks, called this girl named Brianna ugly. It was because Brianna stood up for this kid named Eric, who was being bullied by them. Hannah told them that it wasn’t nice. Then they continually called her loser and dumb until she started crying. Hannah went up to me and I asked her what was wrong. She told me what had happened, and I felt so anxious. What I was going to do took guts. I marched over with my friend Adaora. “Stop it! Bullying isn’t okay! Shut up!”“Yeah, cut it out. It’s not cool. You’re hurting her feelings.”, Adaora said. They then stopped and were quiet the whole class period. Hannah was about to leave school, but I told her that I was always going to be there for her, no matter what happens. I felt courageous. It beyond doubt made our friendship so much stronger knowing that we would always be there for each
In the short story, “Stray”, by Cynthia Rylant, a young girl named Doris Lacey was shoveling one day when the protagonist saw a dog that was walking alone and shivering. Doris picked the helpless dog up and took the dog into her warm, cozy home. The theme of the story is that persistence pays off. Doris was persistent in the story by feeding the dog and the main character was also persistent by repeatedly asking her parents to keep the dog.
Secondly, the innocent part plays a key role in not seeing much of the world. Barton was much older with more of an understanding on how the world worked. For all the readers know this might have been her first time ever being into trouble. Barton fought the idea of killing Marilyn in his head. He tried to call and get the protocol changed, but in the end failed dramatically when he was turned down.
By eighth grade, I managed to bring her into the group of friends I was in and by that time we had formed a true friendship bond that we knew, or somewhat thought, would last forever. She had become my best friend, the main person I could count on to be there for me through the good and bad times. No matter what anyone would say about us, we stuck by each other’s side. We made the best out of our eighth-grade year. When it was time to get ready for high school, we both decided to apply for Townview Magnet Center. I applied for Business and she applied for Health and Professions. The biggest joy of all was to find out we had both been accepted there and could go together.
She is such a sweet girl and it hurt me to see her treated like that. My friends and I always try to include her and make her feel included. We all made sure to attend her birthday party this year, even though I wasn't feeling great because I wanted her to know that she had friends she could count on. One of my best friends, Megan, came to Coastal in the 10th grade. I remember meeting her at a baseball game before the school year started. I made a point to go talk to her and let her know that we were excited that she was going to be coming to our school. Ever since the day she and I had our first conversation, she not only became a part of the Coastal family, but a part of my
Queshya slowly strolled across the dirt covered, school grounds. She was late, but she didn’t give it a second thought. Queshya is fifteen years of age, and her full name is, Queshya Rae Caroline. Her nickname is Shy, trust me she is the total opposite. She continues to go with the flow everyday of her life, which could be a good thing, or a bad thing.
I am pitching an evergreen story that highlights a former death row inmate exonerated with the help of DNA evidence. This profile is 1000 words and paints a picture of a man who should never have been convicted of this grisly crime. I can include pictures with this piece that give more breadth to this man. Ray Krone was sentenced to prison based solely on bite-mark evidence, which you quickly learn is junk science. This profile puts Krone on display, paints a picture of his life, and reveals how these events changed his life forever.
“I can't imagine life without that child under my feet,” said Sara Chickering in Witness. Next the people in Vermont had to face hatred when the K.K.K threw a stone through a woman’s window, her was Sara Chickering. Then her job is a farmer however the most important person in her life a little girl named Esther. She is a six year old who is Jewish. Next the K.K.K had thrown stone carried a letter and Sara was pacing back and forth and was worried about Esther. Next in her mind was “I can't imagine life without that child under my feet.” Next this shows even kids are being affected by the hate in their town. Then the people in both in Vermont and Montana went through racism, but there was a a solution and it was the community coming together to stand up to hatred.
Kacy Briggs was kidnapped on march 3rd 2016. The day after there were signs printed with “MISSING”, and “UNKNOWN.” I wish I was there to help you, I wanted to be there and save you… but I couldn’t find you. But after all this time you were right under my nose. And I had no clue.Im ready for the truth to come out what about you Kacy. Oh and it’s Hailey, Hailey Briggs.
While I was going out for a stroll, I saw Rachel crying on the park bench. I walked up to her and said “Are you ok”, “ I am so sorry for not being your friend Melinda”, “Can you forgive me” Rachel said. ”Yeah, as long as you be my friend”. We hugged it off and we caught up with each other and finding out what we have been doing. It feels nice to be Rachel’s friend again, I feel like I can tell her anything
This story needs to be told. A heart-wrenching tale of teaching and loss that, while over a long period of time, makes no difference to how much it will touch any reader’s heart. I, Kelly M. Hoffman, have taken the honored words of the soon-to-be Doctor Grant to tell this fateful story and make it known to the world, but especially to Mrs. Kelly’s third hour American Literature class. (Mostly) in the words of Dave Grant, here is the story of the ages:
Hi Kacy, great story and I'm sorry for your lost. It's very sad to lose someone close to you and uusaully we tend to turn our backs from God in a time of a tragedy like death. Those deaths that take place suddenly and unexpectingly are the must difficult to grief. I’m glad that you regained your faith after
