“I take it you got my letter.” his deep voice rang “Sure did.” I replied studying the man’s features “How do I get more information? Why are you telling me this? Who are you?” He replies “Only time will tell, but I do know how you can get more information” “Where?” I ask “In a government facility.” He answers and turns to leave. “Wait, which one and how do I get in?” I ask hoping he won’t leave “I’ll be in touch.” He says and leaves, I rush after him but he is gone in the midst of the library. I head back to the orphanage hoping to get a couple hours of sleep. By the time I made it back it was already one in the morning and right away I hit the bed and it's like I was knocked out using horse tranquilizer. The day was the same, the big guy watching me carefully, boring chores, boring learning but after diner I went outside and to no surprise I found the letter with information, I read all the way through it and was about to go inside when I heard a shriek. I ran over to the ally by the orphanage to see two guys standing over a little kid. They were roughly eighteen or nineteen years old “No! Please!” he shouted as one of the guys raised his fist. “Hey!” I shouted and they spun around to face me “Leave him alone.” “Make me.” one of them replied like a two year old “Okay, no problem.” I say and walk over as I size them up, both were only a couple inches taller, shouldn’t be hard. One that does the talking swings but I duck quickly popping him in the gut, but I forgot
The moment we step past the threshold, we're greeted by a sea of people. “How can anyone else possibly squeeze in here,” I say as I glance
“You are, aren’t you?” Such a thing seemed so impossible, but the evidence was lying in my arms. “That’s why there’s two of you. That’s why you speak like you know me... like you know me more than I know myself.” Suddenly, curiosity overwhelmed me. “What else do you know about me?”
“You go up the stairs and take a left. It is the room at the end of the hallway with pictures covering it.”
“Are you a Shadowhunter?” He asks. “How do you know about Shadowhunters?” I ask suspiciously. I look him in his eyes to see if he was possessed or something.
nodded, soon after he said “I’ll tell you everything you need to know, if you can work a deal
“Well, just for the sake of clearing things up, why don’t you tell me his name and where we can find him and then we’ll just politely ask him what he knows?”
“I have a book with your name and address in it. A book on writing memoirs. What can you tell me about that book?”
I turn around to face him. “It wasn’t that hard. He’s the only one who’s been helping you.”
She looks back at me. “Well… above the Tavern are a few spare rooms. People are allowed to stay up there if they need.” I suggest hesitantly with a raised eyebrow.
“Oh, yeah, there’s no stairs down. Helps keep us in,” Jagger says, standing closely behind me. “So now what, angle?”
"What a coincidence," Jean sighed, watching the heavy doors slide shut, "I'm heading there too..."
“I’ll try the one I know,” he said with a put-upon sigh. He stepped up to the door and said, “Arcanus.”
Strange. How strange that boy was. I can still hear his voice inside my head. My dreams that night consisted of him, but they were odd and un normal. There he stood glaring into the downstairs window eviley. Just staring and staring and staring. The next morning I roll off my bed, change into a fresh set of clothes and set off down the stairs to the kitchen. I skip the stairs two at a time before I reach the last couple of steps, pausing to listen to the voices coming from the kitchen. I could hear my sister Reagan talking to someone who must have been Ava. Not thinking too much of it I waltzed out into the kitchen. Not surprisingly, Ava and Reagan sat at the dining room table eating a bowl of Lucky Charms cereal.
Dante crept out of the room and shut the door to his home. The wind blew furiously at his black hair as he tried to keep up with the rest of the people. He let out a sigh of frustration and made his way through the crowds. In the distance, a girl not so young was shouting.
“It was nothing I’ll see you tomorrow. I love you.” Delaney quickly hung up the phone so her mom couldn’t ask her questions anymore.
