Taj Mahal
The globalisation processes conduce to the blurring of boundaries between nations. The modern life let us feel ourselves the global citizens, according to the concept of global citizenship. Every year, tourists totalling two times the population of Agra pass through its gates to catch a glimpse of one of the most magnificent and spectacular buildings in the world. Few leave disappointed after seeing this beautiful site.
One of the most famous and beautiful architectural monument that attracts the masses from all over the world is Taj Mahal. Built in the 17th century, a great example of the Mughal architecture. Its marble dome, tilted minarets and majestic tombs has become a source of wonder and delight for millions of people.
The Taj Mahal was ordered to be constructed by the Indian ruler Shah Jahan, from materials including lapis lazuli, jade, amethyst, etc. The Taj Mahal complex includes a main gateway, a garden, a red sandstone mosque, and a building called the “jawab.” Shah Jahan had desired to build a second mausoleum across the river, to have his own remains buried there and the two mausoleums to be connected with bridges. Unfortunately, these plans never took shape.

On certain occasions, the Taj Mahal is reflected in the water. This monument itself stands on a marble platform, with the Yamuna River to its back. Purely decorative 40m-high white minarets embellish each corner of the platform. These are not quite perpendicular and may have been designed to lean outwards. The reason behind this is being that, in the event of an earthquake, these minars they would fall away from the Taj rather than towards it. The red-sandstone mosque is a famous gathering place for the Muslims in the city of Agra. A similar building in the east, the Jawab, was built for

The first piece of architectural art to look at is the Taj Mahal. It was constructed as a mausoleum for the wife of Shah Jahan’s favorite wife after her death following complications of childbirth (Kapadia, n.d.). It became so famous that its design was even replicated as a casino in Atlantic City, although that became a mausoleum for the cash of its investors. When someone looks at the Taj Mahal for the first time, the thing that stands out the most is the use of white marble in its construction. Almost everything in the Taj Mahal was created with white marble. Next to be noticed would be both the domes and minarets that make up the monument. These are key tenets of the Mughal style that was used in building it. So too is the calligraphy that adorns almost all of the gateways and

As my chosen work of art is the The Mihrab, it was a remarkable experience to visit the The Metropolitan Museum of Art. After a two hour long commute, which includes two train switch and one wrong train, my friend and I were finally able to locate this museum. As lavish as it is on the outside, it also does not disappoints on the inside. The Metropolitan Museum left me spellbinding with its aura of artistic treasures from multiple eras. However, my favorite work of art belongs to the Islamic art period, the Mihrab. The Mihrab is a semicircular niche in the wall of a mosque that indicates the qibla—that is, the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca—and it contains typical patterns and calligraphy from the Islamic art period.
Arabs symbolized their religion through architecture, knowledge, philosophy and medicine. They constructed buildings with Islamic worship facilities, and they treated these places as a place of worship and they did religious practices. One of the most recognized examples of Arab influenced architectures was “The Great Mosque of Córdoba”. It was known for its notable worship features. Each feature explained how a task should be done and by whom. The facilities demonstrated the full task of worship and prayer that Muslims do. These features included the prayer niches and prayer hall, each characterized by its unique
We all come across with the term globalization. The developing countries have battled with increased globalization. But be careful, the effects of globalization are very complex as well as far-reaching. No doubt there are certainly some positive effects, but one cannot overlook the negative consequences of globalization over the area like cultures in the widespread developing world. Globalization is a nothing but the concept that symbolize the contested visions of a worldwide identity. In America, the heritage, culture and individuality has been compromised by this globalization. The face of this region has been changed and not always for the better. Nevertheless, there are the issues like social as

The Taj Mahal is located on the right bank of the Yamuna River in a vast Mughal garden in the Agra District in Uttar Pradesh. It was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal with construction starting in 1632 AD and completed in 1648 AD. The existence of several historical and Quaranic inscriptions in Arabic script have facilitated setting the chronology of Taj Mahal. For its construction, masons, stone-cutters, inlayers, carvers, painters, calligraphers, dome builders and other artisans were requisitioned from the whole of the empire and also from the Central Asia and Iran. Ustad-Ahmad Lahori was the main architect of the Taj Mahal. The management of Taj Mahal complex is carried out by the Archaeological Survey of India and the legal protection of the monument and the control over the regulated area around the monument is through the various legislative and regulatory frameworks that have been established, including the Ancient Monument and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act 1958 and Rules 1959 Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains which is adequate to the overall administration of the property and buffer
Whereas, the Mughal Empire expanded their empire in almost all of India. One of the Ottomans great architecture is the Mosque of Suleyman built by Sinan. Taj Mahal, regarded by many as the most beautiful building in the world, built by Shah Jahan. Shah Jahan built it for his wife, Mumtaz, who died at the age of 39. He built it for Mumtaz, making Taj Mahal as beautiful as she was.

The most beautiful building among these is the Mosque. The Mosque was built in early 1990's and is American built, almost entirely by local architects and local artists. There is a fountain in front of the Mosque and a second fountain inside the vestibule. These fountains have come from as far away as Egypt, Syria and Saudi Arabia and are merely for decoration though in older times fountains were used for washing before prayer.
Focusing on the decoration of the chamber, the hierarchical ordering of the entire complex reaches its crescendo in the chamber. Mumtaz's cenotaph sits at the geometric centre of the building; Jahan was buried at a later date by her side to the west — an arrangement seen in other Mughal tombs of the period such as Tomb of I'timād-ud-Daula. Marble is used exclusively as the base material for increasingly dense, expensive and complex parchin kari floral decoration as one approaches the screen and cenotaphs which are inlaid with semi-precious stones. The use of such inlay work is often reserved in Shah Jahani architecture for spaces associated with the emperor or his immediate family. The ordering of this decoration simultaneously emphasises the cardinal points and the centre of the chamber with dissipating concentric octagons. Such hierarchies appear in both Muslim and Indian culture as important spiritual and astrological themes. The chamber is an abundant evocation of the garden of paradise with representations of flowers, plants and arabesques and the calligraphic inscriptions in both the thuluth and the less formal naskh script, Shah Jahan's cenotaph is beside Mumtaz's to the western side. It is the only asymmetric element in the entire complex. His cenotaph is bigger than his wife's, but reflects the same elements: A larger casket on slightly taller base, again decorated with astonishing precision with lapidary and calligraphy which identifies Shah Jahan. On the lid of

The Taj Mahal is actually a system of buildings that consists of a mosque, an extensive flower garden, a reflecting pool, and a variety of burial buildings, including one for Emperor Shah Jahan himself .
