Sheryl Sandberg, a powerful leader and chief operating officer of facebook, once said that “the ability to learn is the most important quality a leader can have” (allusion). Being a close friend of Elizabeth Metz, I can guarantee you that she is constantly learning something new. Between her innumerable talents, which include playing the piano, fencing, and filmmaking, and her profound curiosity, her days are full of new discoveries. Elizabeth and I first became friends four years ago when she discovered that we both enjoyed the same music. We immediately grew close, further bonding when we spent several nights together at sixth grade camp. Those nights cemented a friendship that will last a lifetime; a friendship full of shared secrets, inside …show more content…
These flaws, however, only convey that she is human, just like all of us, with a complex character. For example, she can sometimes be brutally honest, telling things precisely how she sees them. But her honesty only builds on her trustworthiness as she fulfills what she says she will do and keeps all of her promises. When she promises to stand up for human rights, she does so in a multitude of ways, such as representing minorities on the school white board and organizing a walkout against gun violence. With so much care for others’ wellbeing, she is the perfect leader and candidate for office. (Appeal to self interest). Her friend, Gregory Perryman, notes that she is the “kind of person who not only will be grounded in her principles of acceptance and tolerance of others but a strong advocate for people. Someone who is not afraid to show care for others no matter who they are or what they have been through.” Her immense care is what truly distinguishes Elizabeth from the rest of the candidates, and as an activist who honestly cares, she keeps her promises of helping people, being able to entirely match her actions to her
In her work Be Specific, Natalie Goldberg discusses the importance of specification in writing. By taking the time to put more thought into word choice and details in a person’s writing, they are more likely to create a more vivid and realistic image in his/her reader’s mind. Although this may be beneficial to some readers, others may argue that the mystery allows the reader to apply the story to his/her own life, allowing each reader to have a unique experience. Goldberg’s ideas on being specific can help writers who struggle with gaining connection to their audiences. Unsupportive of generic descriptions, Goldberg encourages writers to draw from the world around them to make their stories more animated and lively.
Jennifer Dailey already had her heartbroken in April 2015, on the day she gave birth to her daughter Jerrica Sky, Dailey explained “I had a stillborn baby.”
Elizabeth is often cold and not open towards people yet she changes as
Elizabeth Warren achieved many feats in office but also in her life before politics. Her first known recognition was during her high school years. While in high school, Elizabeth Warren was a well-known debater, earning the title “Oklahoma’s top high school debater” (“Elizabeth Warren”). Even during high school, teachers recognized her strengths. To be a debater, a person must have personality traits that are shown with this title. In order for Elizabeth Warren to receive this title, numerous people recognized her strengths not only as a debater, but as a person as well.
Elizabeth Warren is a democratic senator from Massachusetts who was elected on November 6, 2012. She is known for fighting for the middle class and because of this she is skilled in the topics of bankruptcy and financial pressures that face the middle class (Biography). When she was campaigning for senate in 2012 Elizabeth proposed the question: : Do we want to be a country that thinks "I got mine, and the rest of you are on your own? Or are we a country that believes that we make investments in our future so that we can thrive and our kids can do better than we do? (Issues).” She keeps the middle class in mind when making political decisions. Warren bases her political choices on her upbringing. Her family struggled with medical bills, making her in favor of Obamacare. She grew up with pride in her country, and she wants to allow immigrants to have the chance to feel the same way about the United States.
When Kelley was a young girl, her father, US Congressman William Darrow Kelley, exposed her to many social rights issues, such as women’s suffrage and abolition (Carson and Bonk). Talking about these issues from a young age inspired her to introduce many reforms and change others’ lives for the better when she became older. Many of her successes can be contributed to a lifetime of discussing politics at the dinner table. Had she not had these experiences from a young age, she may not have made so many significant changes to the country.
Elizabeth Cady Stanton, born in Johnstown, New York in 1815 and died October 26, 1902 had lived a life full of adventure. She had grown up in a wealthy family in a large house with many servants. Stanton was eight out of eleven children, but five of her siblings had died at a very young age. As a child, Elizabeth’s life was always full of adventure. However, she did not have much of a social life, Elizabeth’s best friend was her cousin who had been seven years older than her who had also been an abolitionist that wanted to end slavery. Ever since Elizabeth had been a young girl, women were considered an inferior order of beings, and she had known all about it. That had never stopped her from doing what she is known best for.

Many historians have noted Elizabeth for her switching most arguments into her favors (“Elizabeth I: An Overview,” 2011). For example, in 1566, the Parliament decided to defund Elizabeth until she had a final fiancé. In response to this result, Elizabeth proved her decisiveness and cleverness. She argued that she would marry if the situation became inconvenient (“Elizabeth I: Troubled Child to Beloved Queen,” N. d.). Elizabeth was smart, she knew her people and courtiers.
I agree with Suzanne Krogh’s statement. Naturally, we learn through experiences that involve many different subjects. For example, exploring a sandbox can include math, science, social studies, and the language arts. The class can explore the five senses, where sand comes from, adding water to make the sand stick together, how heavy is the sand, and how can the sand be useful in the community. All of these topics can be covered and followed by a writing assignment, and the whole day can be dedicated to exploring the sandbox. The majority of elementary teachers believe that an integrated curriculum is the most effective curriculum (Parkay, Anctil, & Hass, 2014, p. 461). For teachers to effectively teach, there must be an integration of
“Sit at the Table” The Ted talk called “Sit at the Table” by Sheryl Sandberg is a very touching talk. Sheryl Sandberg is an American technology executive, and activist, and an author. Also, she is the Chief Operating Officer of Facebook.
In the film ‘Her’, directed by Spike Jonze, the main protagonist,Theodore Twombly conveys the idea of alienation via technology and its possible effects, due to his depression via his divorce and his easy going relationship with an artificial intelligence operating system named Samantha. The idea of alienation and technology and its possible effects on human relationships is conveyed via the quote, “Sometimes I think I have felt everything I'm ever gonna feel. And from here on out, I'm not gonna feel anything new. Just lesser versions of what I've already felt.” Theodore recently experienced is his divorce depression, and therefore becomes vulnerable, anti-social from society and isolated himself, by spending time with the artificial intelligence
Her personality is one of a strong independent woman who uses her intelligence. Elizabeth has a very well-built relationship with her father, they are similar in they way the present themselves. She refuses to go against her fathers wishes and takes advice from him. Elizabeth can always hold her own in conversations she shows this when she refuses to marry Mr Collins and when Darcy confronts her with his feelings.
Not only does Elizabeth reject her first marriage proposal from Mr. Collins, but she rejects another marriage proposal from the great Mr. Darcy, the man any woman would jump at the chance to marry. However, Elizabeth is not just any woman, as Austen depicts her throughout her encounters with different male counterparts. Elizabeth has disliked Mr. Darcy since the moment she was introduced to him as she describes him as, arrogant, conceited, and selfish in her rejection. As a result, when Mr. Darcy proposes to her, Elizabeth does not hesitate to reject him. This rejection is, again, against the societal norms and her expected role as a woman.
Despite all her good qualities, we must say that Elizabeth does have some negative ones too. For example, sometimes she is too much of a risk taker and puts in danger thing like her reputation and her future. Elizabeth dares to talk to Lady Catherine de Bourgh in a direct and cool manner, showing less respect than Mrs. De Bourgh is used to and is even capable of deciding not to accept her ladyship’s demand of never marrying Darcy. Catherine de Bourgh notices this and says, in page 335, chapter 56: “Miss Bennet, do you know who I am? I have not been accustomed to such language as this”. This can be seen as positive, as it is showing how Elizabeth is opinionated and strong-minded. Although it isn’t very clever because she is talking to one of the most influential and wealthiest people in the country and it would be
