I find that interesting because I never knew anything about my name until today. This information sort of makes me want to strive to do better, and to do more. I do in fact have a nickname. It’s one that originated from family. My nickname for family ONLY, is Mimi. There’s nothing special behind that name, it didn’t come from a brave ancestor who saved the lives of many. It was just “easier to say,” as stated by my mother. A fun fact about this nickname is that it’s actually Mexican slang for sleep. No one outside my family is allowed to call my by that nickname. It makes me extremely uncomfortable when they do. Others, such as friends or educators, are welcomed to call me nearly anything. Some of my friends are calling me “Mitch” or an odd sounding way to pronounce my actual name. “Grandma Mitch (an inside joke),” and “Mom,” also stuck with me for awhile.
