As a child, in elementary and middle school, I enjoyed reading many books. The last time I read an engaging and fascinating book was in sixth grade. But as time went by, my interest in reading decreased, especially when I took AP Literature and Composition and was forced to read five literature books, unfortunately. However, one book became notable and important to me for the reason that the book was compelling on the subject of sex trafficking. Do you know what sex trafficking is? Sex trafficking is when traffickers use force, fraud, or coercion to lure victims into commercial sexual exploitation (Homeland Security). I did not know either until I read The Sex Trafficking of America’s Children by Alisa Jordheim. Did you also know that it …show more content…
My table is about sex trafficking and I am selling jewelry and a book where my story is told.” Kate informed me.
“Wow. I am actually working on a sociology project about sex trafficking in the United States.” I told her.
“That is good to hear, I am glad that you will be educating your peers on this topic.”
Excitedly I asked, “Do you happen to have any resources where I could obtain some facts and statistics?”
She replied enthusiastically, “Yes, of course! I have a couple of websites that I can send

“I would also recommend this book, The Sex Trafficking of America’s Children it includes facts, statistics, and real experiences of sex trafficking victims”
I purchased it. “Thank you and nice to meet you.”
I had met a sex trafficking victim. Not to mention that in the beginning of my project I had no clue on where to start. I would research sex trafficking in the United States but I was not sure on the information that was presented to me. This book influenced me to come up with exceptional ideas to present my topic. After purchasing the book I was thrilled, and immediately went to go tell my sponsor, Ms. Lindsay who already knew about my project. “Ms. Lindsay, guess what !?”, I hollered from two feet away. “What’s up ?” Lindsay responded with her beaming smile. “I just purchased this book about sex trafficking that will help me with my project. I am so happy that I was able to come to the event!”, I stated. She responded, “Yay, your project will come out
The author talks about being in brothels, massage parlors, street corners, and apartments across the world. Instead of making the book a narrative the author decided to recount a life-altering journey, one that motivated in a newfound mission to contribute to more successful international efforts to abolish sex trafficking and all other forms of contemporary slavery. The author mentions the slavery still exists may surprise some readers, but the practice of violently coerced labor continues to thrive in every corner of every

A woman and her child decided to go out for a small date. She is shopping around and all of the sudden she feels herself being pulled away with her daughter. Her and her child are in a dark van not knowing where she is going. When she arrives at the location you are forced to do unimaginable things, the child included. Now this may not be a reality for you, however this has been for over 20.9 million people. That is people 800,000 a year (Do something Para 5).Young girls are especially targets right now. Not many people are aware of this horrible business but today I plan to make you aware of the horrors of sex trafficking. Sex trafficking needs to be stopped because it has a negative effect on people in the society.
There are many people in this world who hold great reputations. There are far fewer people who posess great character. A reputation is built in just moments, and reflects what you do in front of people. Character, on the other hand, is built over years, and is reflected in what is unseen by others. Of all of my friends, one exemplifies great character more than any of the others. His name is Chris.
There are many myths involving human trafficking. One myth is that human trafficking is not a modern problem (Richmond, 2015). When people are asked about human trafficking, they may say that it is a Trans-Atlantic issue, not a problem in the United States. To help people understand what kind of problem
Human trafficking doesn’t happen in third world countries only. It doesn’t just happen to poor people and it certainly doesn’t solely happen to women. It is present here in the USA but it is hidden, and even worse, so are their victims. They are everywhere yet invisible. They are silently crying for our help through their eyes and smiles. According to Polaris, “…the prevalence of sex trafficking in the United States is still unknown, we do know that women, children, and men are being sold for sex against their will in cities and towns in all 50 states”. Human trafficking can happen to anyone even to Theresa Flores, the author of “The slave across the street”(“Sex trafficking” 2015). An average 15 year old American girl, coming from a privileged background and a respected family became a victim of sex trafficking and through her book, she convinces us that human trafficking doesn’t have a specific demographic.
Instagram is destroying Snapchat at the moment with over 250 million daily active user. The power of the Instagram story is becoming greater and greater. Marketers are salivating at new features Instagram continues to put out for it ’s stories and one of the greatest features was released recently.
Children within the United States who are being trafficked are part of what is called, domestic minor sex trafficking. These adolescents are citizens who have been forced, coerced, or misled to become a part of the commercial sex industry. Some of the most common ways to force minors into trafficking is through exotic dancing also known as stripping, brothels, porn, escorting, and massage services just to name a few (Minor Domestic Sex Trafficking). It is disturbing to know that there are children who are going through this. In order to create prevention and intervention programs for trafficking, it is important to understand what a sex trafficker is and the strategies they use to recruit children.
Images of foreign lands usually conjure up when the thoughts of human sex trafficking come to one 's mind. The United States of America is not immune to this type of horrific behavior. America is the land of the free and yet something as awful as human sex trafficking occurs in our very own backyard each and everyday. According to the Department of Homeland Security the definition of human trafficking is “modern day slavery that involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act” (“What Is Human Trafficking?”). In this research paper the reader will experience the savagery that comes with human sex trafficking and how it has expanded in the United States over recent years. Within this research
Slavery is a modern, pervasive problem. Human trafficking has been found in every state in America (humantrafficking.org). It seems that most Americans likely live within a comfortable drive of someone who is being exploited through human trafficking. There is a growing trend in human trafficking toward sexual exploitation (Bennetts, 2011). The Information Age has helped to create new opportunities for sex trafficking to flourish.
When some people hear the expression “child sex trafficking” inevitably unspeakable thoughts come to mind, others are unaware this is even happening. Sex trafficking is a serious criminal issue taking place within the borders of the United States, but on the outside of these boarders this crime stands as a reliable source of income for those who participate. Although child sex trafficking is a local crime it is obvious that multiple nations have different viewpoints on the topic. The problem at hand is meeting in the middle where this situation can exist without creating a riot with residents and eliminating the destruction of young children’s lives. Though this topic is a sensitive one, there are ways to allow it to coexist in everyday

Jessica was very open to the idea of speaking with the researcher. She illustrated that “prostituting was a life she could never have imagined. It was a world so dark that not even the smallest light could penetrate it” (Personal Communication, November 21, 2015). She disclosed that she was raised in Monterey, California, and was the oldest of three children. She reported that she came from a middle class family. She felt that her physical needs were met, but that her emotional needs were not met. She considered herself an “outcast in high school”. She was loved theater, and was also involved in band. She had graduated high school with decent grades, and had been accepted to San Luis Obispo. After she graduated from San Luis Obispo, she applied to graduate school at Arizona State University. She was accepted, and moved to Arizona immediately hoping to obtain residency.
At the height of the Athenian Empire, 5th century BCE, one of the greatest temples of all time was erected, the Parthenon a temple dedicated to the cities patron goddess Athena Parthenos. Built on the hills of The Acropolis between 447-432 BC, The Parthenon was made to an all-encompassing formula creating perfect proportions and dimensions. This perfect temple celebrates the magnificent power of Athenians years earlier that had successfully defeated the Persians during the
What stood out to me was how many women are forced into Human Trafficking and how many little organizations are to help women in those situations. Annie Dieselberg has an organization in Thailand, where former prostitutes come in and try to forget their past by making then move forward with their lives. The Uzbeks have threatened her numerous times but continues to offer her services to help those women. In 21st Century Sex Slavery Dieselberg mentions, "These women do not know what they are getting themselves into, they can be murdered, ganged rape, and even abused.” Women end up going through a lot of other situations when being forced into sex slavery.
